I'm 30, Ithaca NY

I miss being in my 20s cause I didn't do as much muff diving as I would have liked in that time.







1) Give your name and a little about yourself, including interests and hobbies.

I'm a font designer, I'm 30 years old. I'd like to begin a hobby of muff diving and am currently looking for candidates. Particularly I'd like to put into practice some of the techniques I've seen at Abbywinters.com.


2) Tell us why you came to InsaneJournal. Did someone from IJ tell you (and if so, who)?

Wanted an alternative to LJ. Greatest Journal wrote a notice on their site one day that they don't do a lot of maintenance anymore and advised people to check out IJ.


3) What is your favorite thing, so far, about InsaneJournal?

It looks like they try to make a point of being more welcoming to people than LJ and the site layout looks neat and tidy.


4) Have you joined any other asylums? If not, would you like to?

Definitely looking for asylums to join. I really like the shitty advice community at LJ, I might try to start one here. I've joined [info]off_topic_cafe.


5) Is there a certain kind of asylum or type of friends you are looking for?

Well I do like humor. For friends I guess just people that I have things in common with. Though people who are different in some way are interesting.


6) Do you want to be an active member of InsaneJournal? (Meaning, do you want to promote IJ, update, and get involved in asylums?)

What you want in an IJ friend: I don't think I have any prerequisites at all. I've grown used to that due to the many years at LJ and I'm trying to keep up on writing more as time goes on. :)
What you don't want in an IJ friend: Those who treat any Asperger's/autistic person like myself as a second-class citizen, or worse.

Other Tidbits:
I tend to write about what goes on during my day, depending on when I write or so I just manage to write about the week along with what I've seen going on in my town. :) I also tend to write about my dreams when I can here too, as well as the visits I receive from my deceased dad within them, or outside of dreams. Sometimes I write what goes on with current events and my thoughts on them and along with it, thoughts about my own Asperger's/autism. I try not to show my bad days on my journal, because to me that would depress people. (That and I've gotten into it with some on LJ who were snippy of everyone's little bad days thinking it was just drama) Along with it, I write about the music I listen to, as well as asking for more musical input, hehe... I just tend to write what's on my mind when I can.

Other Tidbits:
I joined IJ in December. Most of the posts that are currently available in my journal are old posts I've archived from LJ. I started at LJ in 2001 and my posting habits are generally as follows:

- I don't write about politics often, but I do vote and have been known to give my reaction to the outcome of elections and such on a few occasions.
- I don't talk about my spirituality much either, but it may pop up from time to time. I'm out of the broom closet, so-to-speak, online and in real life, but it's just not something I share a lot about except with my significant other and my daughter. Personal, internal journey and all that.
- I do post about my daughter, significant other and two cats quite often during the course of sharing about my day-to-day activities.
- Cancer awareness and research is important to me. For example, my hair is currently pink and has been since October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I also participate in St. Baldrick's and shave my head completely bald each March to raise funds for childhood cancer research.
- I also post about my adventures in gaming when I find time to indulge. Games of choice include World of Warcraft, The Sims 2, Neverwinter Nights and various Nintendo DS titles, to name a few.
- I sometimes find myself on a haiku posting spree.

About me: I'm 36 and I've been married for 13 years. My husband is 50. We have a 6 (almost 7) year old son and 2 eleven year old cats. I'm into Anime and some computer games like Sims 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog. I also like to read a fair bit. I find myself reading a lot of fanfiction (mainly Ranma and Naruto based), but I also like Manga and other books. I love reading Terry Pratchett (alzheimers, woe) and general SF-fantasy based fiction.

What you want in an IJ friend: I'm cool with just about anyone although sharing at least one or two interests would be good. It's interesting to meet all sorts of different people. ^_^

What you don't want in an IJ friend: People who think they are superior, Stirrers, people who judge based on lifestyle choice, race, religion or anything like that.

Location: New Mexico. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think New Mexico = Mexico.

What you want in an IJ friend: I would love to meet anyone else that has similar interests or is just an all-around sweet-heart. People that can tolerate reading my random entries that usually include, but are not limited to: rants/gushes about my day and my kids, Rping babbles, fangirl giggles, and the occasional whining about how dissatified I am with my life at any given time, haha. Someone that occasionally comments to let me know they're still around would be swell, too. Oh, did I mention my potty mouth? Yeah, someone that can tolerate that, too.

What you don't want in an IJ friend: Drama llamas, people that get off on tearing other people down to make themselves feel better, hate mongers, and people without a sense of humor.

I identify as queer and live with my partner of 2 1/2 years & our fur kid (dog). Here on IJ, I moderate or co-mod the asylums evildeadfamily, girlgamers, transandallies and tallwomenrule.

I create music, although I'd much prefer being behind the mixing board than being the vocalist; I do the vocalist bit because I'm kinda particular about my music... that and it sates my muse. :-) I'm a console gaming geek (PS2) who was into gaming before it busted out of the arcades back in the late 80's.

I pretty much welcome anyone to read my journal. My life is an open book to those I'm friends with and I hide nothing from them. Not that I end up with deep thoughts or giant revelations or anything. Right now, I'm all about chillin' out and getting used to being domestimicated and whatnot. ^_^
