He shook his head at her stammered apology, realizing that he hadn't met the girl yet. He remembered seeing her around, but they'd never been introduced. Well, no time like the present. He was trying to make himself at home at the school, right?
"No, don't apologize. I should have been watching where I was going," he said, waving off the apology. "I'm David. Uh, David Alleyne. I'm new here too." Why was he so nervous all of a sudden? He relaxed a bit when she backed away. That was weird. He was a little bit shy, sure, but he didn't usually have a problem with meeting new people.
At her question, he looked down at the flashlight and shrugged. "I was bored inside, and the Rec Room's so crowded...I thought I'd try to find my way through the maze. But it's getting dark soon."
