Laurie was still staring up when she heard someone directly behind her. She was startled momentarily as the person almost ran into her, and took a step forward, swallowing a lump in her throat nervously. Turning around, she saw it was a boy she had not met yet- which, honestly, was not surprising since Laurie tended to hide away so much- and he seemed as surprised as she did. Okay, well, maybe a little less, but Laurie tended to be constantly nervous when around people. "Oh, uh... um... I'm the one... I mean I should say... I'm sorry... I shouldn't have... been... in the way..." Her voice was quiet, as always, and her nervousness was making her speech a little more broken than normal. She also had the feeling she was starting to release pheromones, though she had no way of knowing for sure yet, and took a couple of steps back, not sure of the distance needed to ensure she did not affect the boy.
Taking another step back, just to be safe, Laurie starting picking at her fingernails as she noticed the flashlight in the boy's hand and asked, "Umm... are you... looking for something?" She gave a tiny smile, calming down a bit now that the initial surprise was passing. "I'm... um... I'm Laurie... I'm kind of new... here..."
