Who: Generation X!
When: Wednesday, after training
Where: Rec Room
What: Team Bonding!

Sean didn't often reach into his bag of teacher privileges for much, but he'd made today an exception. He'd kicked everyone out of the Rec Room except his own team. He'd been nice about it, but definitely firm. He insisted on having the Rec Room all to himself and his team for at least an hour (and hoped that no one would raise a fuss if he made it two hours if all went well). He had a cooler stocked with water, juice, and cola, some pizza, and was content to do whatever the kids wanted to do. Though he kept giving the pool table a meaningful glance, hoping the kids would pick up on it.

The meeting wasn't really as much of a celebration as it seemed. Cassidy wasn't throwing this as a party, or even as a reward for their hard work (something he was very proud of, even if they didn't always do so well in the head-on challenges, it seemed), but a chance for the group to get together more. He liked their team spirit - Jubilee had made fantastic shirts, Angelo was always looking out for everyone on the team, Paige was always full of suggestions and causes, Megan was absolutely adorable and always looking for ways to help out, Hope was new but giving it her all, and Jono was being more social with his team than Sean would have ever guessed he would. There was always room for improvement, though, in Sean's mind. There seemed to be awkward tension between Jono and Paige, for one, and Jubilee and Megan could both be a bit overbearing in their personalities, and Hope was, well, still new.

Thus... games? Sean had proven to be a lot stricter about training than he was about classes - which, considering his classes, didn't say very much, but anyone who had never gone to Sean about power-training before was probably surprised to see that his ex-Interpol status wasn't just some title that floated around the student body. The kids had powers that could be very dangerous, and he was very serious about them getting the proper training that they needed to control those powers. This party was his way of pulling back a bit to show that they hadn't lost the fun-loving Cassidy. He reared his head outside of training all the time still, but Sean was worried that he wasn't seeing the students enough outside of training to keep that cemented in their minds (his office door was always kept open... but he was often bored in that office). Besides, games often instilled great senses of team-building, bonding, accomplishment, and a slew of other benefits the players often overlooked in all but their subconscious.

Besides. It beat making them dance.

Luckily for Jubilee, Sean was also wearing his shirt, so they had a couple of examples in the room. The professor chuckled, folding his arms as he watched his kids (or most of them at least) file into the room and waste no time in kicking up conversation and making themselves comfortable. It seemed like Hope would fit right in! "Well, iffen Megan's gonna be takin' care o' tha introductions, I think ye'll have a much grander time gettin' ta know tha lot, lass!" he insisted in his lilting accent. "Don't ye worry, there's less blowin' up than ye'd think, considerin' tha kids we got runnin' around here." Seeing as how he'd already met and talked to Hope at length, he was more than happy to let the kids handle the introductions themselves. It made everything much more personal.

He took a moment to glance back to Jono, arms still folded as he shook his head. "I know tha pizza ain't in yer taste, boyo, but ye don't wanna see tha pretty lassies waste away ta nothin', do ye? Gotta get some food in 'em," he said with his usual kindly smile, though he had been hesitant to include food for just that reason. He didn't want to exclude Jono from anything - but at the same time, it was all circumstances Jono had to learn to live with, so it was just extra training in its own way. Besides, Sean figured the English boy had plenty of practice considering the vices his roommate indulged in - and Sean only knew about a quarter of what Remy wound up doing.

To say that hope was overwhelmed by everything would be the understatement of the century. Megan, with her bright pink hair and faerie wings. Jono, talking inside of her head among other things. Jubilee, with her glittered shirts and gigantic gestures. Hope had never really been around other mutants before, especially ones with such obvious physical mutations. So she wasn't sure how to react to it all. She just let it all sink in, not saying anything as Megan word vomitted everywhere. Hope could barely keep up with what she was saying given the speed she was talking and her accent. She thought that she had picked up everything she was saying. Something about people trying to blow them up. "Oh...Great....Grand....Wonderful..." Hope sarcastically said, suddenly feeling very apprehensive about this whole training business.

Before Hope even had a chance to come down from meeting Megan, Jubilee came into the picture and dashed any hopes of this being a normal team. Hope tried to be excited about meeting everyone but if the rest of the team were as glittery and hyperactive as Megan and Jubes then Hope was turning tail and running for home at the first chance she got. Seeing Jubilee produce the shirt from her bag, Hope said "Oh. You shouldn't have..." She turned the shirt over in her hands, getting a close look at it, "I mean....You....really.....shouldn't......have...." Thankfully Jubilee wasn't a telepath otherwise she would be picking up on a string of curse words about what Hope knew she had to do next.

Glitter. Hope hated glitter. It was the work of the devil. Once it's on you, it never comes off. It's like a shiny barnacle from hell. Hope swallowed her pride and donned the glittery shirt of doom, trying her best to not get any of it on her skin or hair. She knew it was a losing battle though as it seemed that there was more glitter than fabric. But alas, manners were important to Hope and she wanted to make a good first impression on her teammates, especially seeing as they would be spending quite a bit of time together. Hope glanced toward the couch at Jono and gave him a pleading look. She hoped that he would do something to pry her away from the "Glitterati" as Hope would now call Megan and Jubilee. He seemed resolute in his apathy sitting there on the couch, looking like somebody just kicked his dog. Hope couldn't blame him, if she had to deal with those two on a daily basis, the only option she could see would be to seek refuge in a friendly foreign nation.

"So...What have I missed?" Hope asked toward Sean.

Jono couldn't help but arch an amused eyebrow at Sean's glittery t-shirt when he turned to him while Hope seemed less than thrilled with her own and with Jubilee and Megan's overwhelming welcome. Jono had learned long ago that there was no stopping or quelling those sparkley girls and had thus simply learned to tolerate them in small doses and eventually they would get bored and move on to something new. They were good kids and they meant well so he didn't hate them by any means. They were just...a lot to handle and on the opposite end of the personality spectrum from himself, as their newest teammate was finding out rather quickly. If Jono noticed Hope's pleading glance he didn't show it. She would also have to learn that Jono wasn't the person on the team one should turn to in social situations as he would be of little to no help.

Instead, he focused his attention back to Sean while the "Glitterati" made their introductions and chattered amongst themselves. "Suppose you're right," he conceded. "Maybe they'll grow a bit if we feed 'em," he added, feeling like he was always towering over all the younger girls on the team. He'd had nearly two years to adjust to the fact that he couldn't eat, he just generally avoided situations that involved food because sitting through meals was usually a bit awkward for not only himself but whoever was eating.

Late to the party, SORRY D:

Angelo was running late, which wasn't really uncommon in general -- no matter that he'd been out east for more than five years, he still had a California sense of time, which meant that he was rarely on time for anything unless it was something fun. This probably qualified as fun, but, well, he couldn't be perfect. So, well, he was late, especially since he'd had to find his bright and sparkly team shirt from Jubes. (Hey, a guy had to make the girls in his life happy. Sorry, Jono.) He was still tugging the fabric down over his skin folds in the back when he sidled in with a sheepish grin and a wave to Cassidy. "Hey, tìo," he greeted him, and without even thinking about it, stretched one arm the few feet across to the couch to thump Jono on the shoulder in greeting. "Lo siento. I miss some of the fun?"

He apparently had, as there was now a new girl wearing one of Jubilee's shirts. He'd heard that they were getting a new member, and apparently today was the day. Angelo put on his usual grin and approached Hope, holding out one big grey hand to shake hers. "Hey there, chica," he greeted her, as welcoming and friendly as he knew how to be. "You our new girl? Me, I'm Angelo. I the leader for this crazy team, so you need anything, you come to me, ¿entiendes? Got it?" he translated considerately -- new people got the benefit of the doubt that they didn't understand his Spanglish way of speaking, whereas he wasn't so careful to be sure his usual audience understood.

Paige was sitting toward the back of the room, against the edge of the billiard table, watching the scene unfold with a bemused expression. She got a bit of a kick out of watching Jubilee and Megan flop down on either side of Jono on the sofa. It made him look so uncomfortable, and Paige nearly laughed at it. And then the two girls jumping at the chance to meet the new girl... She merely lifted her hand and waved as others did the introductions. While Mr. Cassidy was talking, and Hope was looking at her new t-shirt (and the expression on her face and the tone of her voice made Paige actually giggle out loud), Paige crossed over to near where Mr. Cassidy was so she could grab herself some pizza. All this talk about pizza and making her grow made her tummy grumble.

Paige normally wasn't the type to fade into the background, but it seemed right to let Jubilee and Megan take the spotlight. Putting the three of them together made Paige feel a little less forward and outgoing. She was still just as friendly as ever, just a little reserved lately. And especially after making such a stupid mistake at their last training exercise... Paige really didn't want anything like that to happen again. After grabbing a soda (with no caffiene, as she'd kicked that habit) and her pizza, Paige made her way back over to her spot at the billiard table to wait for Mr. Cassidy to take over and give them the what's what. Wasn't that the reason they were here, anyway? For instructions, or something?

She turned at the sound of Angelo's voice and broke into a bright grin at the sight of him. He was wearing the t-shirt! How adorable! Paige loved it. "Hey Angelo! I love your shirt." She said, pointing to her own. She had to wear it. She was all about team spirit.

"See, you joined the most awesomely awesome team ever." She smiled at Hope. "None of the other teams get t-shirts. Just the uniforms that Professor Xavier gave us. But our uniforms are cool too. Not as comfy as our shirts though."

She looked down at her shirt. "Thanks, Jubilee. They're really, really cool. Though I almost messed up your design cutting wing holes in the back. But it's still awesome."

She turned her attention back to Hope, completely oblivious to how overwhelming she could be. "So, where'd you come from? I mean like where'd you live before you came to the institute. I bet it was some place cool, like Alaska or something." Megan was excited to make a new friend.

Sean grinned over at Hope. "For this meeting, nothin' much, lass." He leaned against the couch, leaving his arms crossed. "This isn't gonna be anythin' serious, sorry ta any hopin' for somethin' like that," he said, giving a glance to Jono. "Teamwork is 'bout juss as much bein' able ta have fun with each other as it is bein' able ta hold yuir own in any fight." He didn't want to have to point out that every game trained them in some way, especially the two plus player games, which constituted most of the games in the Rec Room. Team building wasn't just about honing powers and punching things in the gym, nor was it all about earning those points. Though the points were a nice addition.

Putting up with the hyperactive teammates in a more casual environment would probably help too, he hoped, giving Hope another grin before turning his attention on the new addition. "Howya, lad!" he called. "Late is always better than missin', so no worries." He was glad to see half the team suited up in their shirts. Much more comfortable than the training uniforms, and it helped team spirit. Even when the more level-minded of the group, like Jono, tended to opt out of wearing it.

Jubes bounded away from Hope and back toward the couch, scooping up a slice of pizza on the way. Nothing fueled her more than a big gathering of friends and delicious food! She beamed with pride seeing everyone wearing the shirts she worked so hard (read: not very hard) to create, all in the name of team bonding! Even with the absence of Jono's, it was all okay, she knew he had a reputation to uphold; she had an idea as to how to include him, anyway.

She flumped beside her broody friend again, pulling her knees to her chest and taking an enormous bite out of the slice she had in her hand. With a nearly full mouth, she mumbled nearly-incoherently toward Cassidy, curious about the activities planned. "Fho, prof, whuhz goun on?!"
