Jay Guthrie had finally gotten enough rest between the extra training sessions Emma Frost liked to instill upon them and built himself up to finally go through with that small-scale concert he said he's put on. Of course, he hadn't really told anyone. He had no problem getting up on a stage to play, but around the mansion, it just felt a little more awkward. He settled up on a stool, guitar resting in his lap, and had set up a microphone stand and some small speakers. People could come if they heard and felt like hearing more clearly. He didn't put it up too loud, not wanting to bother anyone, but he hadn't practiced in front of a microphone in a while, so he figured it would be good to work on before he found another gig. If he could get the time away from training.
He started before anyone arrived, singing one of his most personal songs first, a sad ballad that could only hint at hope. His song for Julia. By the time anyone had arrive, he had gotten more than halfway though the song. He'd have more for them, of course, and he really hoped people would request songs. He only had so many that he had written himself so far.
He strummed at his guitar, head bowed as he sang into the mike. "She lies with angels and loved them more than heaven’s heart could hold. She lies with child then left his care and both would weep from cold. Child to youth remembrance dims but passion still must hold. Two angels lie too bold. Two angels lie so bold. She returns to the heaven that missed her love," he stumbled a little at these words, still having a difficult time with the lyrics despite six months of moving on, "her memory spun to gold. May she ever lie with angels."
