Who: Stephen Strange & Tony Stark
When: Jan 07, late afternoon
Where: The Holodeck, then the Mirror Dimension on the Holodeck, then who knows?
What: A showing of things most magical
Warning: Double entendre teasing (so far)
Stephen paced his room and checked his appearance for the sixth time. Freshly-showered and dressed in his navy blue robes, everything looked fine. So why did he feel like he was going to faint? He was only going to meet Tony at the Holodeck, take him to the Mirror dimension, and show him some shielding spells. That was no big deal. He'd done similar things many times before back home and even a couple of times since he'd been on the bus. So what was the big deal anyway?
The answer was obvious, even to him. The big deal was that he was showing Tony.
They hadn't had much interaction since his arrival on the bus back in November, save for the conversation at the North Pole and when he delivered some painkillers to Tony some days later. But that meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. When it all came down to it, Stephen was still haunted by the truth that Tony had died to stop Thanos and reverse the Snap, and Stephen had been the one to set him on that course.
It was the only choice he could make. Out of 14,000,605 futures he'd seen in the Time Stone, only one showed them victorious over Thanos, and that one future required Tony to sacrifice himself to save them all. Countless beings throughout their universe owed their continued existence to Tony, and most would never know it. It had been the only choice, yes, but that didn't make it easier to Stephen to bear.
Perhaps that was why he'd offered to show Tony some magic, as a way, however feeble, of trying to apologize for what he'd had to do. Or maybe, he just wanted to spend some more time with him and watch his incredibly sharp mind whirr with possibilities when he saw something so radically different than what he knew. Maybe he just wanted to show Tony something cool, like a teenager trapped in a middle-aged man's body.
Whatever the reason, he slipped on the Cloak of Levitation and made his way back to the Holodeck.
