Who: Stephen Strange and Open
When: January 02, evening
Where: The Holodeck
What: Testing the Holodeck's ability to withstand magic
Warning: Magicky magick is magickal
Since Rogers had announced the teams he'd decided to make, Stephen knew it was time to test the holodeck to make sure it had the capacity to withstand full-throttle magical work. It was one thing to perform a tracer spell to find the source of Cupid's curse on him. It was quite another to unleash the Winds of Watoomb or the Bolts of Balthakk in a confined space where the consequences, should the Bus be damaged or retaliate, could be catastrophic. He may have had a tendency to be reckless with his own life, but he would not endanger others unless absolutely necessary.
After dinner, he decided to visit the Holodeck to test out how much magical force he could apply to the room before it reacted. He didn't bother calling up a training scenario for this exercise, preferring instead to see the effects of the casting within the empty space itself. He began by conjuring some training dummies and working through some basic hand-to-hand forms of the Kamar-Taji brand of martial arts, striking and parrying, turning and shifting in fluid motions from one set of movements to another. If slowed down, it would resemble Tai Chi, but Stephen went for speed and accuracy.
Once he felt sufficiently limbered, he began by drawing out an whip of eldritch energy between his hands. He grasped its handle and struck the nearest dummy, wrapping the whip around its neck and yanking it forward until it toppled on the floor. The bus did nothing. Perfect. So apparently, as long as the strikes didn't hit the bus itself, things were fine. Good to know.
It was time to start the real test. He fired blasts of eldritch energy at the walls, enough to push an adult male off his feet. The bus did nothing. Then, He cast two Tao Mandalas of orange eldritch energy over his hands, but altered their shapes so that they were opened fans instead of circles. These he threw at the walls of the holodeck, where they struck with a shower of sparks before returning to his hands. The walls remained unmarked. Basic attacks, then, were also no problem.
