She opened the door, hoping that it wasn't Ian, not yet, she needed to brace herself for that. she sighed in relief. "Max, hi, thanks for coming," she said, moving aside so he could move inside.
He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Of course, honey, you know I'd drop everything for you. Luckily there was nothing to drop." He looked into her bedroom, shaking his head at the half empty boxes and stuff being thrown randomly into them. "We need to teach you how to pack, no wonder you called me. Texted me, whatever. What's this about? Breaking up with Ian? What happened?"
She sighed, "yes, I can't pack worth shit, that's why I called you and Jake. You'll like him. He's taken, before you asked," she then went on to explain what had happened the day before, everything from the kidnapping to forgetting something for Ian. "I even got you a bloody pair," she said, grabbing them and shoving them on his head.
"You know I have a pair from Disney World Mars, right?" He chuckled. "They're holographic, really nice, I'll show you them sometime." Leave it to Max to brush past the kidnapping like it was nothing. "So, finally realizing what I figured out the night you showed up with the cutie pie?"
"I'm not leaving him for Owen!" She said, firmly, but a part of her wondered, was she? Was she ending this now so she could be with the guy she'd been fucking since August? She pushed it away. No, Owen and her were just best friends, that's all. Best friends with really awesome benefits.
Max nodded, he knew beter than to press it. She was in one of her moods. And things were probably confusing enough for her. "Let me show you how to really pack, honey." He said, as the door they left ajar opened more, both turning to look.
