Who: Lacey and Max
Where: Lacey's soon to be old dorm room
When: Midafternoon the day after the kidnapping attempt.
Why: She's breaking up with Ian
Open: Ian, obviously, and Jake. The other suitemates Ian needs to be it's own thread chain, so when he tags, start a new thread, :D
Rating: Pg-13 at the most I think

She opened the door, hoping that it wasn't Ian, not yet, she needed to brace herself for that. she sighed in relief. "Max, hi, thanks for coming," she said, moving aside so he could move inside.

He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Of course, honey, you know I'd drop everything for you. Luckily there was nothing to drop." He looked into her bedroom, shaking his head at the half empty boxes and stuff being thrown randomly into them. "We need to teach you how to pack, no wonder you called me. Texted me, whatever. What's this about? Breaking up with Ian? What happened?"

She sighed, "yes, I can't pack worth shit, that's why I called you and Jake. You'll like him. He's taken, before you asked," she then went on to explain what had happened the day before, everything from the kidnapping to forgetting something for Ian. "I even got you a bloody pair," she said, grabbing them and shoving them on his head.

"You know I have a pair from Disney World Mars, right?" He chuckled. "They're holographic, really nice, I'll show you them sometime." Leave it to Max to brush past the kidnapping like it was nothing. "So, finally realizing what I figured out the night you showed up with the cutie pie?"

"I'm not leaving him for Owen!" She said, firmly, but a part of her wondered, was she? Was she ending this now so she could be with the guy she'd been fucking since August? She pushed it away. No, Owen and her were just best friends, that's all. Best friends with really awesome benefits.

Max nodded, he knew beter than to press it. She was in one of her moods. And things were probably confusing enough for her. "Let me show you how to really pack, honey." He said, as the door they left ajar opened more, both turning to look.

Jake had gotten the text message and sighed, well, he knew it was coming. He told Mickey he was going over to help Lacey with something and that he'd be back later, his lover just having a quick goodbye from where he was in front of his computer. God he was so hot when he was in geek mode, but then again, Jake pretty much thought he was always hot. What could he say, he was biased.

He walked over to the dorms from the flats, it wasn't a horribly long walk, but it wasn't exactly short either. He hoped he was late when he saw the ajar door, pushing it open a bit. "Dollface?" He called, smiling when he saw Lacey inside. With a sigh he walked in, looking around the room at her half arsed packing job before fixing her with a stare. "Finally caught up with the rest of us eh?" He gave her a look before smiling softly and turning to Max. "I'm Jake." He introduced himself.

She turned to see Jake, smiling at his nickname. "In here," she called, turning to him when he looked at the boxes and back at her. "Yes, I know I can't pack." She sighed. "Did everyone see it before I did?" she asked with a slight pout. "And if you did, why didn't anyone say anything to me?" She crossed her arms, throwing a few more clothes and pictures onto the bed.

Max smirked. "Because you wouldn't have listened if we tried to tell you." He turned back to Jake. "Oh, I can see why you warned me he was taken. I'm Max." He said, giving a nod of his head. "I'd shake your hands but I seem to have them full of Lacey's scarves because she wouldn't know how to fold one if it came up and demonstrated it for her."

"Yeah, pretty much." He nodded when Lacey asked if everyone else had seen it but her. "And what he said, you wouldn't have listened to us even if we had tattooed it onto Owen's arse." He then smiled at Max as he walked farther into Lacey's room. "Yeah, i've got a hottie of my own. But by all mean, feel free to look, i know i will." He smirked, standing near Lacey's bed, picking up the haphazardly tossed clothing and folding it. "You know hon, Max is right, you could use a crash course in folding. It wouldn't kill ya."

"Which is saying something, because your eyes are permanently attached to Cutie Pie's ass." Max said, with a little smirk as he placed a stack of now perfectly folded scarves into a box, moving to some of her intimates. "Oh, don't worry, you're too good looking not to look at." He winked at Jake. "I've been trying to get her to fold right for at least two years. Or at least organize. Girl can't keep anything in order."

"The girl is standing right here!" She huffed, putting her hands on her hips. "And I don't need to pack neatly. I'm going like just down the street. Not like I'm moving to like Venus!" She threw her arms up with a little shriek of exasperation. "This is NOT ABOUT OWEN!!"

"Yes, we can see you standing there dollface, not folding." He looked at her then at the pile of clothes sitting at her feet. "And you know what they say about people who protest too much." He shot her a 'you know what i'm saying' sort of look. Jake then turned back to Max. "You call Harper cutie pie?" He made a little face. "I mean, yeah, i guess he's okay if you get past the fact that he's a git. If you wanna see cute, you should see my Mickey." Jake, boast about the hotness that is his boyfriend? Never!

At Lacey's shout, Betty stuck her head in the room. "What are you yelling around Lacey, who's Owen?"

"Her 'not' boyfriend." Jake said easily, even though he had never met the girl ever.

"I thought you were dating Ian, oh god, what did i just walk in on. You know i'm a terrible liar Lacey."

"Why should I fold when you two are doing so well," she stuck her tongue out before sitting down with a huff and folding the clothes at her feet, muttering about 'pushy little queens'.

Max grinned at her fondly. "I'm getting called that a lot this week," He looked at the picture of Mickey Jake whipped out, "Oh, isn't he just adorable. What a catch you got there, Good Looking," he smirked, rolling his eyes when Lacey started shouting about Owen again.

Lacey looked up at Betty. "Oh, God, Betty. First of All, Owen is not my boyfriend, nor my 'not' boyfriend. He is nothing but my best friend," she said, glaring Jake. "And before you ask, yes, Ian knows about Owen. And what you walked in was me about to break up with him because I've come to a realization that I'm just stringing him along," she sighed. "I thought I could love him. I wanted to love him. He's sweet and nice...and safe. But that's not what I need, and it's not fair to him to be pulled along when it isn't going anywhere. I invited these two for emotional and moral support, what I'm getting is lectures! Because they can't seem to believe it's NOT ABOUT OWEN!" she shouted it again.

"I know he is, i real his arse in from hetero land, and that was nearly five years ago. I'm just that good." He said with a little playful smug nod before making a face, looking at Lacey over his shoulder. "God, stop yelling Lace, we're not deaf. You're blind, mind you, but that's a different story that'll just lead to more yelling." He said as he continued to pack for her.

Betty just listened to her friend rant, giving her an odd look. "Right, okay. I get it, i uh, think."

"She's leaving the good boy for the bad boy." Jack whispered at Betty, to the point where he was practically mouthing the words if only not to get Lacey shouting again.

"Oh, right, okay." Betty nodded. "I'm just gonna, you know." She jabbed a thumb in the direction of the living room over her shoulder. "I'll be out there, you know if you need any help...." She shook her head. "Running away." She finished lamely as she hurried out of the room, unable to stop herself from seeing the similarities between what Lacey was doing to Ian and what Archie had done to her.

Jake watched the blonde hurry away before turning to the other two in the room, looking confused. "Okay, one, that was kinda cold. And two, what the hell's her issue? Please don't tell me you have a third and it's her, because one, ew! She's Rose's double and since i see Rose as a sister, it's kinda weird. And two, jealous! Geez, how come you get three?"

Max laughed brightly, "Oh, Jake, you and I are going to get along famously, you pulled him in from Hetero land?" He reached over to give the blond a High Five snickering at the chuckled disguised as a disgusted sound.

She looked up, hearing Jake's words despite him trying to hide it. Oh could he have shoved his foot into his mouth any further, she stood up and slugged him a good one in the arm, glaringn. "Ok one, what the hell do you think I'm doing? I'm breaking up with my boyfriend, and leaving the dorms at the same time because I couldn't bear seeing his face day after day? If that isn't running away, I don't know what is. And Two," she slugged him again, "she moved all the way here from Riverdale to get away from the fact the the guy she loved chose her best friend over her. He chose the bad girl over the good girl. So thank you very much for comparing me to my friend's old flame that she's still not over. Esepcially since to leave Ian for Owen, Owen would have to actually be into me that way," She sat back down, covering her eyes with her hands. There was no use trying to deny how she felt for Owen, not with these two.

Max gave her a look. "Honey, Jake is right, you're blind if you think that," he turned to Jake, "And you did not see them when they came to Mars for take away and Sex after he became not so dead boy."

"Ow ow!" Jake pulled away from her after the second punch. "Okay! Christ, i didn't ask what you were doing, i know that. Secondly, i didn't know that she had been jerked around by some moron. You need to tell me these things before i meet knew people, you know how my foot loves to live in my mouth." He rubbed his arm. "And Max is right, you're insane if you can't see that the bloke it head over heels for you babe." He then shook his head at Max. "Was it that big neon sign obvious? Cause that's them at work."

She just rolled her eyes. "Oh please with the over dramatics, Jake," she said, "I didn't even punch you that hard."

"Yeah, she punched Cutie Pie harder when they trying to deny how they felt about each other, and were both suffering from terminal foot in mouth syndrome," Max said, taping shut the box and labeling it.

"Shut it Max," she said, still looking at Jake. "And because I'm not leaving Ian for Owen. I've said that at least three times. So I don't like us being compared to Archie and Veronica, okies?" She rolled her eyes. "And there is no neon sign. Unless it says Fuck Buddies. I think we've both given up trying to pretend you guys don't know we're fucking."

"Oh honey, that was not fucking you were doing in my apartment that night." He said, giving her a little smirk, "that was two people making love."

"Bite me, Max."

"Oh come on, i'm delicate and Mickey hates it when i'm all marred." He said with a cheeky mock pout when Lacey called him on his dramatics. "Wait what? You punched Owen and then shagged him?" He then turned to Max. "And you watched?" He arched an eyebrow for a moment before smirking at his new friend. "Was it hot?"

"Ugh, remind me why invited you guys?" She groaned, throwing herself on the bed very dramatically. "If I wanted this kind of treatment, I would have called Tessa. You're supposed to be on my side."

"We are sweetie, we're also not blind," Max said, turning back to Jake. "Oh, yeah, it was very hot. This was like Harlequin novel level of shagging. And that's to say nothing of the two snogs I caught them in."

"You only caught one, I thought...oh god, you nosy little queen." she groaned, throwing her arms over her face. "And Jake?" She looked up quickly, "If you're so delicate and Mickey hates it when you're all marred, One, why the hell are you working for Torchwood, and two, why the hell after the bad jobs do you two go straight for the hot house. The more battered the faster you two are running in there."

"Yeah, what Max said. We're on your side, even though we give you a hard time about it." He said, plopping down on the bed next to her. "We just want to see you happy." He reminded her before laughing when she asked him about the quick and dirty shagging he and Mickey got up to. "Well one, because we started working for Torchwood before we started shagging. And two, well, there's no better way to get down from a near death high then to get off." He said with a little shrug and a cheeky wiggle of his eyebrows. "You should know that, you are Owen are just as bad." He teased, having a feeling he just might get hit again.

Lacey fixed him with a look, before laughing and smacking him. "Oi! My sensitive ears don't need to know what you two do in the Hot House. And Owen and I are not as bad, mostly because you hog the Hot House, Dad and Tad get the Archives, and that leaves us with what? He won't let me near the weapons, med bay is a bit to public forum, and the cells, well, Janet watches."

Max smirked, "I could stand to hear a little more, good lookin."

Lacey groaned and stood up. "Ok, I'm going to talk to Betty, if you two are about to start swapping conquests." She walked out of the room, seeing Betty sitting on the sofa. "Hey," she said softly, "can we talk?"

"Oh please, there isn't anything about your ears that are sensitive." He said with a playful roll of his eyes. "The cells aren't that bad, it only gets weird if Janet starts to make that weird growling noise. That's a real mood killer. If you'd like, Mickey and I will start a rota for the hot house with you and Owen." He said with a smirk before turning to Max when he spoke up, grinning. "Oh i bet you could." He just nodded when Lacey went walking out of the room.

Betty had been idly flipping through the stations on the tv, looking up when Lacey walked into the room. "Yeah, sure." She said with a little nod, turning the tv off with the remote and putting it down next to her.

"Yes to the Rota!" she called as she left the room, leaving Max and Jake to talk about whatever they wanted to. She waited until Betty had turned the TV. She sat down in one of the arm chairs, and sighed. "first of all, let my apologize for mister foot in mouth in there. He doesn't think before words fall out of his mouth," she sighed, "I know how this must seem. Especially when big mouth over basically told you I'm leaving Ian, the good boy, for Owen, who is apparently the bad boy. Which one, he's a git and a prat and...ok I see their points," she said with a shake of her head, "but they're wrong. I'm not leaving Ian for Owen. I'm leaving Ian because...because I realized I was stringing him along, and that's not fair to him. And I didn't mean for big mouth in there to remind you of everything with Archie and Veronica. They're supposed to be here, like I said, for moral support." She glared at the door, before turning back. "And yeah, I am. I'm running away. I don't think I could face walking out of that room and seeing the guy whose heart I broke every morning. I'm a coward. Always have been."

Betty listened to Lacey talk, a small ghost of a smile on her lips. "It's okay." She shrugged. "I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, how could he, he didn't know. It was just a bit of a slap in the face guess, the reminder." She chuckled. "I don't mean to make your problems mind, so i'll just shut up now. But -" She paused, shrugging once again. "I just thought you and Ian were doing alright, you were so into each other. But then, i'm not the best judge when it comes to relationships." She chuckled softly. "Obviously." Betty then shook her head, smiling a friendly smile. "And you're not a coward, you're just running away from a room. I ran away from a town and a life, i think i win the cowardly awards." She joked a bit. "Gotta admit though, i'll miss having you around here. Well, when you were here that is." She teased.

Lacey let out a breath she'd been holding, good, no permenant damage to their friendship. "Something happened yesterday. Someone thought they could use me to get money out of my Dad. I'm ok," she said quickly, "Dad isn't a pushover, and they got what they deserved, but during it all, no one thought I was with Ian. I never stopped to think about what Ian must have been thinking, if he were worried about me." She shrugged. "But I made sure to worry about the people I work with, my best friend." Worry about what she should get them from Disney World, but Betty thought she was the Trust fund baby. "I don't think you're a coward for leaving that behind. Obviously," she said, gesturing to what she was doing. "Oh, I'll still be around. I'm not quitting school, just moving back home. Hopefully we can still hang out, yeah?" She chuckled. "Yeah, I didn't really stay here much, did I?"

Betty made a surprise face when Lacey mentioned people trying to use her for money. "Oh my god, are you okay?" She paused, shaking her head at herself wryly. "Of course you are, you just said you were." She chuckled before sobering. "I guess it was a real eye opening moment huh?" She said, speaking about the realization of not thinking about Ian during the whole ordeal. "Oh, we can still hang out for sure." She nodded. "And no, you really didn't stay here much anyways." She giggled softly.

"Yeah," she said chuckling, "worst I got out of this was slightly sprained wrist. They, however, had to deal with the wrath of my father. This is a scary thing, trust me. I almost feel bad for them. Almost," she said with a cheeky grin. "Yeah, it was an eye opening moment." In more ways than one. "We should go out for lunch sometime. My uncle owns the Shark Bait Diner. And believe me, he can cook," she grinned. "I guess I'm too much of a Daddy's girl to stay anywhere other than home."

The distinct sound of someone coughing out bullshit made Lacey groan and throw a pillow at her door. "God you two are the nosiest queens!" She rolled her eyes. "I better go make sure they don't do anything I'll regret. I'll call ya later so we can talk about hanging out." She smiled heading back to her room. "Can't I ever get a moment's peace?!" she said to the two men inside.

When Ian had gotten Lacey's text, he was in the library doing research for one of his classes. He packed up his things, and headed over to the dorm, wondering what it was that they needed to talk about, though he might of had a feeling.

He entered the suite and dropped his bag off in his room and walked over to Lacey's room, giving a slight knock on the door before speaking. "Lace, love? What's wrong?"

They were taping shut the last of the boxes shut when Ian called through the door. She looked at her two friends, asking them to wait for her in there. Whether she liked it or not, this was something she needed to do on her own, even though a part of just wanted to keep up the charades rather than hurt him. But like she had taught her children, and her grandchildren, when it was time move on, you had to face the music.

She stepped out into the main part of the suite, sighing when she saw Ian. "Let's go to your room," she said quietly, leading him to the room where just last week, she'd curled up in his arms after the incident with Keens. She turned to face him. "Something happened yesterday, and it made me realize something," she said, no preamble. Lacey was blunt, and like most things in her life, she ripped the bandage off cut. "I think we've both been coming to this for a while, but we've both been turning our heads away from it. Ian," she took a deep breath, this was the hard part, "you're a sweet guy. Kind, giving, and always there for anyone. And I like you, don't get me wrong, but...I'm not in love with you. And this," she motioned between them, "us? We're just holding it together because we're comfortable. We're safe. And that's not fair, least of all to you. You deserve someone who can love you, Ian. Not someone who uses you as a security blanket." She steeled herself as she said, "It's over between us. Has been for while. I'm moving into the Manor on a permanent basis. I'm sorry." She stood there, waiting for his reply. She knew she was making the right choice for both of them, but would he understand?

There Ian stood, in the room that they had shared so much in, listening to Lacey as she broke up with him. He nodded though shell shocked, understanding where she was coming from. "This is because of Owen, isn't it?" he asked. Ian wasn't stupid, he knew what what going on between the two. He wasn't mad, or jealous - it took a lot for him to become one of those two things. But to say that Ian wasn't hurt by this would be a lie. "I still love you, Lacey. Always will, even if you don't love me in return."

It was then that he knew what he had to do. In the trunk where he kept all of his old things from Hogwarts, there was a beautiful engagement ring for Lacey that he was going to give her on New Year's Eve, right at midnight. Ian thought about how to rid himself of it; make it so he didn't have to ever look at it ever again. Then it hit him: he'd go down to the river, and toss it in.

She ran her hands through her hair as she shook her head. "This isn't because of Owen," she said, "It's because," she sighed. "I was kidnapped yesterday. Through it all, I never stopped to think about us. About if they'd told you. If they wondered if I were with you before they got the ransom note." She shook her head. "Instead, I took care of the kidnappers myself, taught Tess how to fly the Tardis and took her Disney." she decided not to bring up the gifts she got everyone but him. "It wasn't until someone brought you up when we got back that I even bothered to think of you." She was being harsh, but it was the truth. She sighed. "I'm damaged goods Ian. That's what it really comes down to. I'm damaged goods afraid of everything and you were safe. Someone I could trust not to break my heart, but instead I broke yours, and for that, I'm truly sorry." She nodded at his last statement. "I should go, I just need to get my things down to my car." She turned to leave the room, pausing at the door, "I really am sorry. I'm sorry I'm not the person that's right for you. I hope you find her someday. That someone who can love you in return."

Ian frowned for a moment as Lacey brought up the kidnappers, then noticed the bandage wrapped around her wrist. Clearly she was hurt, and he was too, but not in the same sense. It would take him a lot of time to get over this, over her. Lacey was his first true love; he didn't date a lot at Hogwarts while all of his friends did. He watched as she moved to leave him and then stopped at the door. "I hope you find your's, too," he said quietly. "The someone who will always love you, and who you can love in return."

She nodded one last time, and walked out of his room, and into her room. She looked around. IT was empty now. The decorations down, and books and clothes packed away. She hadn't had much here anyways. She was surprised how easy it went with Ian. She'd hurt him, she knew it. She wasn't blind, despite what the boys sitting on her bed watching her thought. Better this small heartbreak for Ian now than a greater one later on. It didn't make it any easier.

"Lacey, are you..." Max trailed off, it was dumb question.

"I'm fine," she said, with a little sigh. She turned to the boys, her smile on like a shield from questions. "Come on, let's get this stuff down to my car. I still need to find places for all this stuff at the manor." She giving both boys the signal to drop it, to let her move on quietly.
