She grinned when he kissed her, and she returned it with abandon. She didn't care that he didn't say it back. Hell, he could never say it and she would just know. It was in how he treated her, talked to her, cared about her. It was in his actions, and that was more than enough for Kai. The kiss was just what she wanted, something she could throw herself into and pleasantly drown in.
Ronin pressed closer against her, settling in on her bed. He just needed to feel her, see her giving in too. He knew he loved her, he hoped it was painfully obvious even though he hadn't said it. Even though he knew he should say it. He loved her. That was truth. All there was to it. "I just… Kai. You're everything to me."
Laying out next to him, snuggled in close, Kai adored hearing that. “And you're everything to me,” she shared, so easy now that they had set foot on this particular path. She nuzzled his cheek and neck, just feeling wrapped up in warm fuzzies. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been in bed with someone and felt this good. Or the last time she felt this good period, really.
Ronin felt some kind of relief or release? Something gave way in a good way to have said that. Had it out in the open. And she was right there. She wasn't rejecting him, wasn't kicking his ass. She loved him. He almost wanted to run away, afraid it couldn't real or that the alcohol was meddling with his mind. But he knew better. He stayed put, letting her nuzzle and be close. "Your hair is in my face," he said simply after a moment, playing it deadpan, testing out their back and forth. He didn't want that to be gone.
She giggled. “Oh yeah?” she asked, pushing up on her hands and knees to really flop her hair into his face. And Kai had one hell of a lot of hair. “Is that better? Is it in your face now?” she asked, swishing her head back and forth to tease him.
Further relief, like a cold wave washing across his stomach. This was them. Nothing different. Just more. Kai and Ronin 2.0. He grinned and closed his eyes as her hair, in all its 4 million foot glory, made a mess all over his face. He curled his fingers into it and gave a gentle tug. "Fine, fine. Hair, one. Ronin, zero. But seriously, Kai…" he said and looked up at her through a haze of her hair.
She reached up to tug it over her shoulder, gazing down at him. “Yeah?” she asked, a smile on her lips. “But seriously...” she prompted, so he would finish his thought. She nibbled her lower lip, not sure what he was going to say.
Looking up at her he suddenly saw what he already knew but had sort of taken for granted because he'd seen it just about every day of his life for years. She was beautiful. Simply exquisite. Her delicate, tiny features and all that hair. "How in the world did you ever stay single? You're so incredibly beautiful."
She laughed. “If I had to guess? I probably always had my eyes on you,” she admitted. Mai would say as much, either way. It was easier to suss out through Mai's filter, really, putting those pieces together in her own mind. “Maybe other guys just knew when I didn't. I know I lost boyfriends because you were simply more important, and I wouldn't entertain any type of realignment of priorities. And if they couldn't handle my friendship with you, then they got shown the door.”
