Mr. Marrs was an older distinguishable man, rather tall with slight graying at his temples; although time had treated him rather nicely, and none of his scares from the war shown. He was dressed in a fine rich sort of outfit, nothing of rank or position worn. But that didn’t mean he still wasn’t a General. And even though the independents had lost and the war was many years over, his rank still meant something to many folks in the Verse. The man sat in a chair next to the bed that Talos was laying in. The room was well lit, and he was simply waiting for Talos to wake. The IV was removed a little over an hour ago, and now it was just whenever the Talos would become conscious on his own.
Talos began to shift and slowly open his eyes. he blinked and cleared his eye he stood up from the bed shirtless, unlike the general the stood beside his bed Talos bared many scars on his back his arm his neck he had one distinguishable scare on his chest it was the only scar that looked surgical the other looked like laser wound bullet wounds shrapnel wounds only another solider would recognize such scars.
“O man, where the hell am I a crap I better not be where I think I am I hope I didn’t dream the little women who keeps calling me puppy.” He had temporary amnesia everything would come to him in a few days, his vision was still adjusting he couldn’t see the general next to him. He attempted to get up.
“It might be best that you don’t move around too much at first. Until the drugs completely wear off. And, you’re not exactly where you think you are. Which, I’m going to ask, where that is, Son?” Mr. Marrs asked in a stern voice, he was calm and collected. The man didn't know that Talos was unaware of him. He was curious at whom he thought was calling him Puppy. Couldn’t have possibly been Lula, and that didn’t sound like something Lola would say. Except, made sense that the little woman he meant was Luu, because she was the one that’d brought this trouble home with her.
He heard the man and then replied, “Sir, I believed I was or am in an alliance base undergoing more evaluation and training?” He didn’t know if this was more alliance mind games so he kept it as it should be he wasn’t going to give away any names or otherwise.
The man chuckled slightly, “Believe me son; you aren’t in any sort of Alliance base. This is the furthest thing from it. I don’t know anything about any evaluation or training. You are on Paquin, a border planet. You mentioned a Little Woman; can you tell me what you meant? Who are you were meaning exactly?” The man sat with his arms crossed, understanding that it might take a bit for him to realize what might have happened. Although hoping it wouldn’t take too long, he wanted to get to the bottom of this.
His vision began to clear up he saw the man and felt he could trust him. “The little women is a young girl I met she was all alone in the entertainment district in the city. She was all by herself and I felt concerned for her well being I took her to get something to eat and then I requested a mule and it took up here had I known she was this well off I would have put her in the mule and sent her on her way.” I do not know much about except she was very helpful and caring I really didn’t have anywhere else to go so she offered me shelter here for a while and said something bout I can get work on a ship with a crew” Talos adjusted himself to sit up but when getting a closer look at the man he noticed soothing very familiar.
He nodded; it basically matched what Lola had told both him and her mother. “Well, in that case I must thank you. For you see she is my daughter. We’d been concerned all day about her; although, she is grown, and does know her way around town. I do have to ask how it is that she spoke with you?” He know it had to have been via a databook, since that was the only why she had to express words to others; although, the girls had an odd way of understanding each other. Or rather, Lola had an odd way of understanding her sister. But, then the man didn’t understand it but they’ve always been that way. Kara, or rather as she’s now wishing to be called, Emerald and Lula also had an odd way of understanding each other. He always had suspicions but never vocalized them to anyone else. Not even his wife.
Talos immediately recognized the man General Marrs who led thousands of impendence troops during the war. Talos then sat up right and gave Lula’s father a great deal of respect. “Yes sir, she did communicate through data pad sir” Talos said in a stern military voice as if talking in a way where Talos spoke to any superior. “There is no need for thanks sir the reason why I help you daughter general was because she reminded me of my little sister back on Beetrun” he regretted saying that both side new the devastation that happened in Beetrun. Especially General Marrs
The man noticed the difference in poster, and manner of speaking. He didn’t know why the change, until Talos spoke the word ‘General’, at which it didn’t entirely surprise him. He was surprised though at the respect shown to him by Talos; many Alliance even ex-alliance soldiers had a way of disrespecting officers of the independence, especially after the war had ended and especially those of higher ranking, which undoubtedly included Mr. Marrs.
However any sort of disrespect would have gone incredibly wrong in Talos’ favor, which the man thought was possibly why he acted with such respect. If it was real, which it seemed to be, then General Marrs may learn to respect the man in return, and actually become comfortable with his daughters leaving on the same ship as him.
He remembered what happened at Beetrun, it was horrible for the Independents, and the man guessed if Talos’ family lived their, or at least his sister, then it would have been awful for him too; since nobody made it out of there, except those outside of town at the time, which General Marrs had been. “Can you tell me what happened with you once you got here with Lula?”
Talos new this was a man of high ranking even though Alliance soldiers and those who resigned, mocked and laugh at the independent some of the REAL solider in the Alliance showed nothing but respect and honor as fellow soldiers to the Alliance Talos was one of those select few.
“I am not aware of what happened, Sir, I remember standing in the kitchen and then passing out about an hour ago sir. And then I wake up to find my self here.” He then thought about something and he asked a question. “Sir Permission to ask, Sir. But is there really a ship willing to take me in sir? I would greatly appreciate it. That’s if they have a spot available for a washed up Merc ... Sir?”
The man nodded, “Ahh, well it’s been a little longer than an hour. You’ve been out a little over two days or so, it’s a bit past noon of the eleventh; although we did have you on sedatives, to keep you from waking up and harming yourself or somebody else. After you passed out and seized in the kitchen you were taken to a guest room, where you then woke in a sort of fit. You broke down a door and a bit of a wall. I was told you were having a nightmare of some sort, along with a form of sleep walking. You passed out on your own again, and then I had you taken here and monitored.” He explained in a honest fashion.
“It was my call to keep you out since we weren’t sure what was wrong with you; for your own safety and others. However, now there is a ship and a crew that’s willing to help out. Help figure out what caused you to pass out and seize, to find out how to fix whatever is wrong; a lady captain who is doing it as a favor to my family. She is in fact of a ship that would be willing to hire you on; she mentioned that she could use your expertise. And her security officer in general could benefit, they’re hiring crew on their stop here and another hand would be mighty useful. The ship is Lorrayna Phoenix, Captained by Emerald Storm. I’m sure she’ll have a whole list of things she’ll want to tell you herself. But, I should say to you know. That she demands loyalty from all her crew, new and old. They do salvage jobs, though the manner in which they acquire such salvage wouldn’t always be approved by the Alliance. And since you were alliance at one point in time, she’d have to be certain of your loyalty to her, and not them. My daughters shall be joining you on the ship, so if any harm were to come to them, Emerald, or the crew in general due to you personally, I’d have to personally deal with it. I know neither of us wants that. Plus, Emerald, while she’s a brilliant devoted captain, she’d make an awful enemy. If you know what I mean?” He explained, wanting the man to understand things the why they are; as a man, a father, and sort of a major associate to the ship itself.
“And since she’ll be helping you personally, beyond any work opportunity that she plans to offer you. I do imagine you’d owe her your life, in simplest of terms. Since things don’t seem to be going so entirely good for you at the moment, if I may say, Son.” He told him in a direct to the point tone. Knowing that he didn’t need to threaten the other man, that he was smart enough to understand all the things he was saying to him.
