Re: Orchestra/Dancing: Penny & Hailey
Unlike last year, Hailey was not attending the gala with her family, but rather as Penny's date. She'd initially bristled at the thought of the gala, if only because a Lords and Ladies ball was so damn patriarchal, but when Penny had expressed interest in it, she'd shoved the knee-jerk anti-patriarchy reaction down and decided to lean into it enough to show her girlfriend a good time.
Piecing together her outfit had been something of an adventure, but she'd gone more steampunk than historically accurate, and she had to admit, she kind of loved the result. Especially with the hint of pirate influence. And with the way Penny was dressed, it made her feel as if she'd kidnapped Penny from her evil lord of a father who'd intended to marry her off for his own political gain.
"You know me so well," Hailey teased back warmly, leaning in to steal a quick kiss from her girlfriend. Letting her hand slip into Penny's, she lead the other woman out to the dance floor, which had expanded just before dessert had been served. She hadn't gone to any of the dance lessons, and so she kept them more on the outskirts of the dance floor, making sure they didn't get in the way of those who were doing the more formal dance that had, apparently, been taught and rehearsed in those weekly lessons.
