RP: I wanna be your Friday night sweet ride

Eliza had gone simply with some sparkle for her Friday night - the first of two for the weekend, surely - at Carnival. She had counted down the minutes until Cogg & Bell Clockmakers had closed at half six and then gone home to make dinner and get ready for the night out. She wore her bright red hair down in natural waves, and a nude lip.

When she arrived at Carnival Club at half nine, the place was still a little on the slow side, but she liked that. She liked having a better pick of the tables and to be able to get her first few drinks without waiting in the lines that would take over the multiple bars by 11. She smiled as she chose her spot and listened to the DJ ramping up the music as the crowd grew. This was her favorite way to spend a weekend night, especially knowing she had a bedside table full of hangover remedy potions waiting for her and that her cousin Etta and friend Amara would both definitely be joining her tonight.

Since she was between projects, Amara had been absolutely thrilled by Eliza's suggestion that they hit the Carnival tonight. Odds were she'd have gone out somewhere tonight anyway, but the Carnival was one of her favorite spots, and she liked knowing her friends would be getting out for the fun, too. She took her time getting ready, choosing a sparkly dress with bold colors and a short hemline, pairing it with red heels and deep red lips. She could hardly be seen at a club with a naked face!

Arriving fashionably late, a little past half ten, the club was already filling up by the time she walked in, the doorman waving her in past the queue lined up outside. She leaned up to brush a kiss against his cheek before heading in, fluffing her dark, wide curls as she glanced around. The click of her heels was drowned out by the heavy pulse of music, and she naturally gravitated toward the dancefloor.

Jasper wasn't above being ambitious when he went out for the evening and though he'd seen a few tempting guys eyeing him up, none of them had really caught his attention for more than a dance or a few quick words. As he contemplated nipping outside for a smoke and to text Kenzie, someone did catch his attention, like a magpie spotting something shiny.

A slow smile bloomed on his face. She was very shiny indeed, wearing the sort of lipstick that he wanted to see how much he could smudge, even if he knew it was probably charmed not to budge. Amara Ahuja. Only a few weeks ago he'd been cuddling with Kenzie and watching Once Upon A Wedding. Merlin, she'd been hot in that.

Knowing he'd regret it if he didn't shoot his shot, Jasper maneuvered his way into her space on the dance floor. He didn't crowd her, but he did smile, making it clear he was interested in dancing a little more closely.

It was common for her to draw interested men in on the dancefloor, and the curly haired guy that danced his way close to her, making sure to catch her eye, was hardly the first tonight. He was cute and familiar in a way she couldn't quite pin down, and though he wasn't her physical type in general, he was certainly cute enough to dance with and let buy her a drink if he were inclined.

Her body turned toward him, her hips shimmying and shaking to the strong beat, her hands raised above her head. Once he was close enough, she wasn't shy in the way her hands dropped to his shoulders, her body moving with his now.

Pleased to have captured her attention, Jasper let himself enjoy the way that her body moved so sinuously before his own hands founds her hips. He kept his touch on the lighter side of firm, not wanting to put her off. Meeting someone like this could be a delicate game, one that was exceedingly fun to play.

After another song, the music shifting to something a little more mellow, Jasper flashed her a smile. "Drink?" he suggested.

As his hands went to her hips, she gave them an extra shimmy, letting them sway as though he were guiding them. He wasn't terrible at all to dance with, and she was having a lovely time, though she wasn't about to commit to giving all her attention the first guy she danced with tonight. And she still planned to make a point of finding Eliza and Etta for a drink before the night was over.

She smiled back at the cutie as the song shifted. "Yes, please!" she chirped with a small bounce. Her hand snagged his as she shifted in front of him, lifting their joined hands above her head as she danced her way through the crowd. Her moves might not match the music anymore, but anyone who was watching had to admit she looked like she was having a wonderful time.

"I'll have a Galaxy Magic Mule," she told him when they'd reached the bar while they waited for their turn to order, clearly assuming he'd be buying her this drink. She also assumed, as she always did, that her sweet smile was charming enough to let her get away with it.

She was quite the sight and seemed to know how to get attention almost as well as Scarlett did. It made Jasper smile, a little bit of him preening that people were looking at him as well.

He ordered her drink, and a cocktail for himself, leaning lightly against the bar. "I'm Jasper," he offered, perhaps a little stunned that she really did look as good in real life as she did on screen.

When her drink was set in front of her, a glittery swirl of pinks and purples and blues, Amara lifted it to take a sip, humming at the sweet, fruity flavor with a hint of tart. "A pleasure!" she said, lifting her free hand to trail light fingertips over his upper arm. "I'm Amara," she said as though it went without saying.

"You're quite rhythmic, aren't you? Quite a joy to dance with!" she complimented him with an effortless hint of flirtation.

Jasper hadn't been expecting any kind of compliment but he could hardly complain when it came from such a lovely witch. Was he actually in with a shot here? It was too early to be sure, though it seemed like a good sign.

"Thanks. I like music." Telling her that he sang and played guitar seemed like far too much of a cheesy pick-up line. "Dancing kind of goes with that." His smile turned flirty. "Nowhere near as good as you, of course."

Who didn't like music? And that hardly was an indicator of one's capacity for rhythm, but she supposed it was kind of cute that he was playing humble. "You're just saying that because I'm just slightly prettier to look at whilst dancing," she accused lightly, continuing with the playful flirtation that seemed to be working quite well so far. And usually did, if she were being honest.

"Maybe they'll give me a go on Let's Dance soon," she suggested, as if she were dangling a carrot. She wouldn't know until late summer, likely, but she'd ensured her manager knew she was quite interested in the possibility. As fun as it might have been to be the youngest contestant on the show, she'd not been quite ready for it at seventeen. At twenty-three, she felt she'd gained a certain level of discipline necessary for such a competition.

"More than slightly. I'm the ugly duckling next to you." Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration - Jasper knew he looked good tonight - but who didn't like being told they looked good?

He sipped his drink, ice clinking in the glass. "Now, that is something I'd like to see." Amara in one of those short, sparkly dresses would be quite the sight. "Feel like I'm getting a bit of a preview tonight."

Her laugh was a light trill, a practiced sound that she managed to make effortlessly, as her free hand flung out to smack his bicep playfully. "Oh stop it! You're quite pretty." And he was, just not her type. Didn't mean she couldn't flirt.

"Mm, drink your fill, and we'll both hope it's a preview!" She took another, longer drink from her glass, enjoying the way the little specks of glitter exploded on her tongue. It was like that Muggle candy, Fizz Wizz, her cousin had loved to sneak her when she was little.
