"Good," he breathed, utterly relieved the have the verbal confirmation of the feeling he'd been having about their situation. She'd seemed upset that night when she'd shown up at his house and kissed him, seemingly out of the blue, and he'd had to reject her advances as gently as he could. But he rather thought they'd come a long way in the time since then. "I think so, too," he agreed, pleased that she felt that way.
When she'd eloped over the summer, beyond understanding that she was definitely not single anymore, he'd wondered if perhaps they were too different after all for anything to work between them romantically.
