RP: Thoughts on expanding our venture...
Who: Silviya Capper & Robert Hilliard
What: Silvie has some thoughts, some reservations, and a lot on her plate.
When: 11/19/27; late evening
Where: WeeVee Production offices; Silvie's office
Warnings: TBD
Completion Status: Ongoing

Sliviya paced in her office after the Grace writer's meeting ran late. She hadn't had the chance to call her husband, Terence Higgs, before the meeting had run too long for them to make their dinner reservations, and so she spoke to him now, half apologizing, half frustrated with his lack of understanding. "I know I should have called you earlier but I was in with the Hearts staff and then ran straight to the writers' meeting... I warned you things would probably run late today, we just announced the pick-up... I know, honey, and I'm sorry, but I can't magic away my responsibilities... I know, I told you picking up more shows wouldn't do this but it is what it is... I can't just not do this, you know that... And how would you have felt if I'd asked you to just walk away from Quidditch?... No, I know I wouldn't have but... Terence... I'm sorry but I have to go, Robert's here for a touchbase, some things came up in the meeting... Don't start on this again, please... I'll see when I get home, we can do take-away? It'll be just as nice... Okay. I'm sorry. I'll be home as soon as I can..." She hung up her mobile with a decisive click and a puff of air - now half angry, half exasperated. It wasn't like Terence didn't know things like this could happen... and then, when he got particularly irritated when she mentioned having a late meeting with Robert... As if she didn't nearly always have meetings with Robert. They'd been partners in work for ages, really. She didn't understand her husband sometimes. A lot of the time.

Looking up, she noticed Robert had slipped into the room quietly - it wasn't an invasion, her door was always open to him - and hoped he hadn't heard too much of the conversation.

"Hey," she said, with a sad, small smile, her emotional exhaustion obvious on her face. "Thanks for staying late," she had something she needed to run past him, more for his counsel than anything. Professionally, she trusted Robert with her life. She rounded from where she'd ended her pacing behind her desk and moved to a cabinet - "Drink?" She asked, pulling out a hidden bottle of Elvish wine she kept for moments just like this. She took out two glasses from another hiding spot in case he decided to join her.

She settled into one of her two comfortable wingback chairs and invited him to do the same. "So, there was something I wanted to talk to you about..."

It was never a surprise when Silvie would ask him to meet her for something related to any of the various shows they'd worked on together, and Robert never read more into it than a professional friendship. Tonight, however, as he reached Silvie's office and leaned against the open doorframe, he couldn't help wondering. Her back was to him, and he wondered if he really ought to slip back out before she realized he was there. But his concern for her outweighed the slight discomfort at overhearing the one-sided conversation with, apparently, her husband.

"Hey," he replied when she got off the phone and finally noticed him. He stepped further into the room and slid the door shut. "Sure," he answered, walking further into the office to sit in the other wingback chair.

"And I'd love to hear what it is, but first... Are you all right?" he asked, concern furrowing his brow. Though he hadn't been meant to hear her side of the conversation, or any part of it, it had sounded awfully tense and stressful. Particularly the bit that Terence had, apparently, kicked up a fuss at the mention of him. As if Silvie had ever done anything to make her husband question her commitment.

"Oh," she said, her face going somewhat slack in surprise. "No, yeah," she shook her head and gave him a smile that was clearly trying, "Everything's fine. I just..." She cringed a bit, "I missed a dinner date with Terence." She sighed, "I told him I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it with the announcement today and Hearts starting soon but..." She shook her head again and this time her smile was a bit more under her control. "It's fine," she said, hoping to shrug it off. She wondered still how much of the conversation he had heard. Terence had always supported her in her career, but since he'd retired from the Pro League two years ago (he'd been a Beater Coach for his former team - Puddlemere - for a few years after retiring as a player), he'd clearly been bored and frustrated and it wasn't like him. He wanted more time with her, but she simply didn't have more. His recent issues with how much time she spent with Robert - since work on Grace had started, really - was a whole other issue.

"Though, it does sort of come into play in what I wanted to talk to you about..." She tried to pivot the conversation abruptly. "WeeVee's approached me about optioning the Veiled Halos books for a new series... But realistically speaking I can't write, produce and Head three shows..." She gave him a look that said 'what do you think...?' and sipped at her wine.

Although he tried to keep any response off his face, Robert was certain at least an echo of the internal cringe flickered over his expression when she admitted what was going on with her husband. He didn't want to think about the subtle ways in which it mirrored how things had deteriorated with Piper all those years ago, but he did rather think it could be a concern for the longevity of her marriage. He'd tried so hard to balance his career with his family life, but Piper hadn't ever seemed to settle into family life the way he had. Perhaps she'd never really wanted it in the first place.

Mentally shaking himself from his reverie, Robert nodded sympathetically at her. "You've got a lot of projects going on. Maybe he needs to pick up one of his own?" he suggested, his brows raising a bit. If he were honest, he'd never particularly liked Terence. But the man had always been good to Silvie, and he could respect that. If that was changing now, though, well he couldn't help but feel a bit protective of his coworker, with whom he'd developed a comfortable friendship over their many years of working together.

"Have they really?" he asked, excitement showing in his raised brows. "Oh, love, that's fantastic! Obviously it wouldn't work at this moment, but once Hearts gets off the ground, it should require a little less of your immediate energy, and then you could stagger the filming for Grace and Veiled Hearts. You did write the books, so transitioning that to writing for the show shouldn't be as exhausting a task as writing for Grace." He obviously thought it was something she should seriously consider. She'd put so much into Confessions, and he absolutely believed Veiled Hearts would be just as successful.

She nodded, "Yeah, Grace being entirely original has been a stretch, but I think back to how hard it was to get everything under control and running smoothly with Confessions and it just... Think I could still do it? It was hard enough when I was younger and had more energy and less commitments..." The thought of having Oscar home all summer and still running such a grueling schedule made her tired just to think about.

"Um... I hate to put so much on you but... Well, the decision would be easier to make if I knew I had a partner to work with on it..." She didn't want to pressure him, or further complicate their working relationship, but she really did think that she'd feel better about it knowing she had his help.

Although he hadn't intended to, the look he gave her clearly said he thought she was being a bit daft. "Love, Confessions and this whole WeeVee thing was new back then. There was a lot of figuring it out as we went along. You've got things so well structured by this point, I absolutely believe you've still got it. And come now, we're not that old." His smile went a bit crooked, his eyes shimmering with a bit of the adventure of youth.

"Silvie," he said, his voice soft, low, serious, "you've already got me. Of course I'll be by your side for it, whether you want me in the show or just behind the camera." He'd gotten rather good at directing over the years and had good instincts behind the camera, but his passion had started with the stage and then acting in front of the camera, and he didn't think he would ever want to abandon the stage entirely.
