When: 29 August 2027, afternoon (backdated)
Where: His house

Completion status: Complete

Throughout his career, Beau had done many things, from sex scenes to a musical to competing in a dance competition wearing more sequins than he could count. But at the heart of it all he was an introvert and he valued any time he had to recharge by himself away from cameras. However, lately he hadn't been enjoying being left to his own thoughts, so when Kenzie had asked if he wanted company he had tried not to be too eager to accept the offer. Out of all his new castmates, Beau was perhaps enjoying spending time with her the most. Her quiet demeanour was calming.

He'd had a productive Sunday so far, starting with a hard workout and then a very long video call with his publicist. She'd cleaned up messes in his private life before and while he hadn't unloaded all of his anxieties he had broached the idea of becoming more public about his private life. The conversation had given him a lot to think about. Professionally it seemed that it might not be the end of the world if he came out. But that left his personal life to worry about - and Beau was very good at worrying about his personal life.

Beau was in the kitchen when he heard the Floo activate, pencil moving over a sketchbook as he waiting for coffee to brew. "Hey." He finished drawing a line before he looked up. "How's it going?"

When it was first announced that Kenzie would be on the new WeeVee show, along with a few real big names, she had been nervous about just what it would be like to be on set. It hadn't been long, but Kenzie already felt at home on set, and absolutely loved all of her co-stars. She thought they really had what it would take to make the show a hit.

It had been so easy to ask if Beau needed company, Kenzie absolutely loved shooting pictures of him. He was such an easy subject, and she absolutely adored his jawline. She rather thought it'd be nice to capture him in his natural habitat, while painting! She would never have guessed that he painted, but it seemed fitting somehow.

Kenzie arrived via floo, standing still in the fireplace to shake off any ash, before she stepped out in her favorite dress and combat boot combination, with a large pink knit sweater tossed over it all. She was still dusting off her sweater, as she looked up at his voice. "It's going really well! I was thinking of how I never did quit my last job, I just sort of stopped showing up?" she admitted, making her way over to where Beau was drawing. "What's up with you?"

Beau cast a final glance at his sketch, a somewhat erotic depiction of a reclining male torso that had been haunting him since his visit to Taboo, before flipping the cover closed. He tucked the short stub of the pencil into the pocket of his well-worn jeans. They were ripped at the knees, slim-fitting on his legs and had a few splashes of what might have been paint or bleach.

"Oh, nothing new," he said, non-committal and keeping his tone light before switching his attention back to what Kenzie had said. "You know, I've never had a real job, but I'm pretty sure that's not how those things are meant to work," he teased gently. "Remind me, what was it you used to do?" He couldn't immediately remember if it was Kenzie who'd been a barista or Bennie. Speaking of which...

"I've just made some coffee," he said, picking up the pot and collecting a mug with his other hand. It was one he'd made himself during a ceramics phase - a little misshapen perhaps, but it was one of his favourites regardless. "Do you want one? Or I have tea? Or something else?" Beau wouldn't be accused of being a bad host. It was dry outside, he'd set up an easel on the patio, but since he knew that Kenzie would be arriving he'd thought it best to wait somewhere with a view of the fireplace since she hadn't visited his home before.

His teasing was rewarded with a playful glare, but she was still smiling. "I was a waitress, you're definitely right though. I only realized this because one of the older women I work with called me to see if I was still alive," she admitted a mischievous smile.

"I'd love some, the odd schedule is making me a little dependent on it," she said, moving into the kitchen area, and leaning back against the counter. She wanted to stay out of his way while he went about getting the coffee. "What do you think your job would have been, if you'd have a normal sort of one?" It seemed she was stuck on the idea for a moment, but she was a bit all over the place and would likely change the subject in just a moment.

"It's the early mornings for me," Beau admitted, sympathising with shooting schedule woes. "I've never been able to hack them." Mornings were not his friend. Luckily he'd worked with most of the hair and makeup team over the years and they usually knew how to manipulate him out of the worst of his grumpiness with coffee and quiet music. He picked out another mug for Kenzie, this one with a pale rainbow glaze. "How do you take your coffee? I only have oat milk." He frowned. "Or maybe some almond milk." But he wasn't sure if it was still good.

Her question made him smile. It was something he'd considered a few times before. Who would he have become if he had given up being WeeVee's Beau Rosemont? "Something to do with magical creatures, I think," he said, pouring Kenzie's coffee. He had only been half joking to Bennie about retiring and raising a herd of hippogriffs in the country. He elaborated adding, "My dad works with dragons. I grew up around that sort of lifestyle. Being out in the fresh air is still my happy place, I guess."

It was a relief to hear he couldn't do the mornings either, he had far more experience than her. "Oh, uh-I can make it? I usually just throw any cream and sugar I can get into it. Oat milk works just fine," she said easily, never wanting to be a bother.

"For some reason, that surprises me?" she watched him pouring the coffee, lost in her thoughts over just what he would be doing with creatures. She wondered if he'd enjoy being a teacher, though she supposed not with his love of fresh air. "That's far more ambitious than me. I just don't want to waitress," she said, nervously tugging at the ends of her sweater. "My dad's a PI, that might have been fun to get into."

"Okay." Beau had been vegan for seven or eight years now, so it had been a while since he'd had cream in his house. He placed the coffee on the island counter for Kenzie and Summoned the milk and sugar for her to fix her drink.

He grinned, actually quite pleased that he could surprise her. "Yeah? I don't know if I'd call it ambitious. Just that there's a part of me that would happily live out of the public eye." And maybe he would one day. But for now he had a little slice of the countryside that was his and hopefully the new show would be a regular job for the next few years - he might even be able to get a pet, something he felt that he hadn't been able to devote the time to over the last few years. The production schedule on his last regular show, Lux, had been too demanding but By the Grace of St. Mungo was far more of an ensemble show.

"PI? As in private investigator? Yeah, that does sound fun." Beau always enjoyed playing law enforcement types and been the suspect of a couple of other mysteries. Who didn't enjoy puzzling things out? "Sounds like a job where two days would never be the same."

He tucked his sketchbook under his arm, gathering his coffee cup. Beau nodded towards the door. "I thought we might sit outside?" he suggested. "Take advantage of the weather while it's nice. There's a great view."

Kenzie's eyes grew larger as she thought about it, how much time Beau had probably spent in the public eye. "I can see that," she admitted with a nod of her head. "You could easily find that life with animals. I had a friend in school that went off to like, work with all sorts of magical creatures. She really freakin' loves it too. She'll send me owls from the middle of nowhere. She's hoping to work with Luna Lovegood one day," she admitted, not realizing she had gone off on a little tangent that no one needed. She took that moment to fix up her coffee, pouring in the oat milk, and copious amounts of sugar.

"Until he's your father," she said with a wince, laughing as she remembered all the times her father had been hot on her case without her having a clue. "He's kind of fantastic though, you should meet him sometime. I'm sure he'll come by the set eventually. He's too busy planning his wedding currently. He's marrying my aunt," she said before she could stop herself. She just enjoyed the look people had on their face when they heard her father was marrying her aunt.

"I'd love to!" she picked up her own coffee cup, following after Beau. "Your place is really wonderful. I don't know what I was expecting, but you really did choose the best place." She was sure she had been imaging a place like her own, a dingy little studio apartment. She should have known better, Beau was an adult with adult money. He hadn't been working as a waitress, living off daddy's money, when he had been offered the job on the show.

Beau grinned at the expression on Kenzie's face. He'd seen something similar from Bennie when he'd talked about his career. "Were you just doing the maths?" he asked, amusement evident. "I was seven when I got my first role. And I'm thirty in about a week, so..." He shrugged.

His smile turned proud when she complimented his home. "Thanks." The back door was already open and Beau led her to the paved area just outside. There was a wrought iron table and chairs that he sometimes used for entertaining, but more often than not he ate out there if the weather was good. Earlier, he'd set up an easel and the weights from his morning workout had been left under the window. "I can't take all the credit for it, though. I got someone with much better interior design sense to help."

Lowering himself into a chair, Beau set his sketchbook down next to his coffee. "So tell me about your dad marrying your aunt. There has to be a story there?"

"So you're one of the few that literally grew up in the spotlight," she said, sounding awed by it. While she never would want that for her own child, she had to imagine it was a weird sort of upbringing. Then again, her own upbringing had been weird in it's own way.

Kenzie followed Beau, taking a sip from her cup. "Still," she said, while settling into the other chair. "It's absolutely gorgeous here." One thought that had never crossed Kenzie's mind was what sort of home she would want to buy once she was making real money. That day was fast approaching, at least it would be if the show took off. She had no idea what she wanted, but Beau had definitely given her something to think about.

"Oh! Uh, it's a weird family," she said with a laugh. "My aunt isn't really my aunt. My dad has these best friends that have always been Uncle's to us. One of them had a sister, and so she became aunt... Well, now uh," she was stumbling a little over her words, she had never really had to explain her weird family dynamic. She rather thought this was the thing that made her childhood weird. "She and my father have apparently been dating for some time, he proposed at this big family event, and now are the marriage of the season." There was an eyeroll to go with the words, finding it ridiculous that it was called the marriage of the season. The Gossip Guru clearly had no idea.

Beau's family felt very small and nuclear in comparison. He knew people who had those big extended families, but it had been just the four of them for most of his life - his dad wasn't close to other Rosiers, for which Beau was grateful, and he had some cousins on the Macmillan side but the family's travels during his youth meant that they'd never built that sort of connection.

"The marriage of the season?" The breeze ruffled his short hair. "That sounds like something out of a regency drama." Beau didn't necessarily relate everything to drama and storytelling, but he'd been acting for most of his life at this point. "How... how are feeling about the wedding?" he asked carefully. It had to be strange to see a parent get remarried.

"You'd love it, I'm sure there's going to be some dramatics. At the last big party my soon to be sister had a meltdown because my aunt hates her boyfriend," she said in a rush, blabbing as she took a sip from her coffee. She set it down then, taking her camera out of the pocket it had been shrunk to. She enlarged it, and went about fiddling with it, so she could take pictures as he drew.

"It's going to be... Interesting, I don't know. I sorta see it now? They are super happy together, which is all I've ever wanted for my dad." She was being incredibly honest, finding it so easy to talk to Beau. She was used to only feeling this comfortable with Wes, but she found Beau was just as easy to open up to. "Are your parents still together?" she asked curiously, attention still on her camera, as she went about lifting it to her eye to start focusing on the scenery around them.

Laughing, Beau shook his head in amusement. It sounded almost like something out of a soap opera, and he would know having cut his teeth in the industry on a soap.

"Well, that's good." Happy was what you aimed for in a long-term relationship, wasn't it? Beau hadn't really ever found that with any of the women he had dated, usually coasting along in a state of 'okay' until everything fizzled out, and he'd never allowed himself the luxury of exploring that with men.

"Uh, yeah, they are." Beau flipped open his sketchbook to a piece he'd started earlier. It was one of the flowers that grew in his garden and he wanted to try and capture the vibrancy in watercolours before autumn got its grip on the plants. "My dad studies dragons and my mum helps him with that. I think they enjoy having an empty nest now me and my sister are all grown up."

Kenzie nodded her head, it was definitely good. She finally lifted her camera to her eye, snapping a photo of Beau as he flipped open the sketchbook. One of many to come.

"That's very good," she said idly, moving the camera around so that she could take photographs of the nearest flowers, without moving from her seat just yet.

"Do you think you'll always act? I think in like ten years or so, you could totally be the cool dad in movies," she mused, thinking out loud. She could see it though, heck he could even play a young father on a show at the moment. He was so handsome, in that classic sort of way that Rock Hudson was.

Beau didn't know whether to laugh or groan. "The cool dad? Now I'm starting to feel old," he joked, though his upcoming milestone birthday was certainly weighing on him. He half-stood to retrieve the pencil from his pocket, frowning slightly as he realised that the lead had broken. "But, uh, yeah. Probably? I think my career is going change which isn't a bad thing. It would be boring if it stayed the same forever." Plus, if he followed through on coming out, an idea that was giving him sleepless nights, that would likely impact how casting directors saw him. "I sort of fancy trying my hand at directing," he admitted, then grinned. "I might start sweet-talking Silviya for next season."

He set the broken pencil down on the table, moving it slightly so that it didn't roll away. "I just need to grab my wand," he apologised, standing. "Back in a sec." As he nipped back into the kitchen where he had left it by the coffee pot, the breeze flipped over a couple of pages of his sketchbook.

Kenzie couldn't hold back the laugh when he made the joke, giving him an apologetic smile. "I promise, you're not old. You're too freaking hot to be old," she said, unashamed in her very honest words. It wasn't that she was hitting on Beau, to Kenzie it was just a fact that Beau was hot.

"You should definitely sweet-talk her, I hear she has a thing for brunettes," she pointed out happily, bringing her camera back down to the table so that she could fiddle with a few of the settings once more. She didn't look up at first when he mentioned needing to grab his wand, but she did when she heard the pages of his sketch book moving. "Oh no!" she reached forward quickly to put a hand on the page, in hopes of the whole pad not falling to the ground. Unable to help herself, she glanced down at just what was on the page in front of her.

Beau stopped short of the table when he returned, eyes widening. That was his sketch of Nate, thankfully sans face, but not exactly something he'd planned to show Kenzie. He spun his wand in his fingers, not exactly sure how to play this off. He felt like he could trust Kenzie from what he knew of her so far and they could easily have several years of working together ahead of them. But it was rare for him to bring people into the circle of those who knew his whole truth unless they were the person he was involved with.

"Well," he said carefully, not moving. "As you can see, I'm much better at landscapes." He spoke lightly and then pulled out his chair with a metallic scrape against the paving. "Never could get the hang of hands."

"No!" She protested immediately, shaking her head. "You have some serious talent, I wish I could draw like this. How long have you been drawing the human figure?" She asked, completely oblivious to the fact that it could have meant more. That the male torso could have been someone Beau had feelings for. All Kenzie saw was art, a beautiful man that Beau had created out of nothing on the paper. "You really have some talent, I would love to see what you've done... If you're comfortable with that," she quickly finished.

A bark of laughter escaped Beau. He couldn't help but be surprised by Kenzie very chilled reaction to finding vaguely erotic nude sketches in his book. He stifled another laugh with a sip of coffee, waving a hand at the sketchbook. "By all means, go ahead." She'd find a few more pieces along the same lines, including one that might have been her best friend's breasts. He assumed she wouldn't recognise them, though.

"Honestly, I don't know." Beau cradled his coffee cup in both hands, thinking. "I've been drawing a long time. You've probably noticed that there can be a lot of just waiting around on set? At some point I just moved from colouring books to my own drawings."

The second he gave her the go ahead, she picked up the book, settling back into her seat now. "I think that's fantastic, you've got the talent. Have you taken any classes?" she asked curiously, eyes lighting up as she slowly flipped through the pages.

Beau's assumption had been wrong, Kenzie had recognized Scar's breasts the second she saw them. Not only did they always change in front of each other, lately they had shared a bed twice with Wes. She definitely knew those breasts, and her eyes widened for the briefest of moments, before she turned the page. She had known her friend had slept with Beau, so it wasn't so surprising. "You have an incredible memory," slipping from her lips before she could stop herself. Maybe that joint before she left had been a little too much.

"One or two. Everything's mostly just trial and error. And practise." He knew he was fortunate to be able to devote his time to creating things, either acting or other artistic media.

Beau was too focused on whether Kenzie was going to realise that his sketches were more than just an interest in life drawing, so he didn't spot Kenzie's surprise at the curvy sketch. "I've been accused of such before," he admitted wryly. "Mostly a blessing, sometimes a curse." Beau didn't have an eidetic memory exactly, but he was quick to take things in and memorise them. Drawing from memory was much harder than learning lines, though. He paused. "I just feel lucky that I have a way to get memories out of my head and onto paper," he said carefully.

There was a mental note taken, she was totally going to tell Scar later how he had drawn her boobs. She knew she'd be ridiculously excited.

"It is a true freaking gift," she praised happily, finally handing the sketchbook back over. "If you ever want a real live model, I'll totally sit for you. You're always so nice about letting me take my weird pictures, it's only fair," she said easily, picking up her cup then. She takes a sip from her cup, musing over just how she would tell Scar.

"Thanks." Beau took back the sketchbook, resting his hand on the cover. He really hadn't considered how much of himself was scrawled between these pages, captured in sweeping strokes and dark shadows. His sketches told a mixed story of hiding and exploring. Before Beau could let his thoughts get caught up in a loop of introspection, he forced himself to put the book aside and focus on Kenzie instead.

"That's a really nice offer," he said, grateful. He wanted to try his hand at her hair texture, or maybe her nose piercing. "Maybe you can teach me a few things about photography too." She'd told him before that she was relatively new to it, but he had already seen that she had a good eye.

"Anytime, you're one of my favorite friends," she admitted easily, grinning as she brought her camera up, zooming in on his hand on the book, and snapped another picture.

"I'd love to! What do you want to learn first? I have both muggle film and magical," she admitted, pointing to the camera in her hands. "This one is muggle, I have a little dark room set up for my bathroom. My dad helped me make it," she said, shrugging her shoulders. She was now moving, getting up from the seat, and starting to get down so she could get a shot of that beautiful hillside view.

Beau shrugged. "I'll let you choose," he said easily, putting down his coffee cup.

As Kenzie moved to take some shots, Beau turned his attention to the easel and supplies that he had put out earlier, soaking in the companionable quiet. He repaired the pencil with his wand and, half watching Kenzie, tried to capture her silhouette with loose, sweeping strokes on a clean sheet of watercolour paper. Some people liked meditation, but for Beau creating something new had the same centring effect.

He looked up. "Sorry, did you say something?"

Time had passed quickly while Kenzie was lining up her shots, she hadn't noticed a thing either. She so enjoyed spending time with her new friend, he just got the vibe.

When she heard him speak, she looked up, blinking large chocolate orbs at him as she came back to earth. She had been lining up a shot of Beau, an angle that showed the back of his book, with him peeking over it. "I didn't, sorry, I got... Lost," she admitted, laughing easily. "I smoked before I came by, I doubt you're shocked," she continued.

Beau laughed too, realising that they'd both drifted off into their art. His coffee was mostly cold when he picked it up.

"Uh, no. Not shocked," he agreed. There were times when he'd noticed it more than others and he wasn't judgemental about it. He'd even dabbled in the past himself and maybe not the worst idea to revisit considering his current inner turmoil. "Something I haven't done for a while," he admitted. "Does it help?" Beau asked gently.

Her camera found itself set down in her lap, as she sat down on the ground just in front of him. She sat pretzel, leaning back on her hands, arms extended out behind her. It really was beautifully calm out here in Beau's yard.

"It does, it really helps with my nerves. I get very nervous, but it helps calm that buzzing.." She bit her lower lip then, trying to find the right words. "I find it also helps me be a bit more myself? Though I suppose some might say that's just because it helps with the nerves. If you're ever interested, I almost always have some on me," she admitted then, giving him a sheepish smile. It was something she tried to not admit, but she tried to always have a little something on her.

“More yourself?” He certainly had to wonder what that meant for Kenzie. Beau knew that he liked Kenzie well enough to bring her into his home and he didn’t think she’d been under the influence for al the time he’d spent with her. Still, it was a curious thought. “Well, I’m not sure that the world is ready for me to be more myself," Beau remarked, knowing that he wasn’t ready, "but I have to admit I’m tempted."

He finished his last lukewarm sip of coffee. "Maybe another time when we’re not filming?" he suggested.

That wild hair nodded, she definitely felt more herself when she was able to smoke and calm all of those nerves long before they really got bad.

His next words though had her forgetting all about offering to smoke with him. "What do you mean the world isn't ready for you to be yourself? You're like..." She was flabbergasted at that. She couldn't find the words she wanted, he was like Wes, without being Wes! Didn't he understand? "I can say with certainty that everyone will love you. You're... You, you're Wes without being Wes, does that make sense?" she let out a soft huff at herself, frustrated she couldn't seem to find her words. "If they don't like you? Fuck them," she finished finally.

Surprised by her outburst, Beau laughed. Okay, he needed to keep her around. "Like Wes without being Wes. That's... surprisingly accurate." While they weren't close friends, they'd known each other a long time and had gone through Hogwarts together in Slytherin. When they'd first met, they had been Beaumont Rosier and Wesley Warrington, both with a passion for the performing arts. But unlike Beau, Wes had never hidden his proclivities. Of course, Wes's leap to fame had been after graduation while Beau had spent their school years being marketed as a dreamboat to teenage girls. The decision that he'd made at fourteen to stay in the closet was something that he was truly facing up to for the first time now.

"I hope you're right about that," he said a little wistfully. "I don't think I want to use Wes as a template, but it does feel like he's always just been himself."

Hands came up to remove her camera, setting it down next to her. Her arms stretched above her head then as she laid out on the ground, listening to his voice. His laugh had calmed her, and she mulled over his words. He thought she was accurate, she was a little proud of that.

"There's this younger self of his that enjoys poking out from behind those bedroom eyes. I think it's why he keeps me around, I help bring it out," she mused, giving her thoughts a voice as they came to her. "I know I'm right though, because I've gotten to know you over the past however many weeks. You're going to bring so much art to this world."

If he made the decision to come out, Beau wondered if Kenzie would figure it out before he made any kind of announcement. She was a bright one, even if she hadn't picked up on the clues in his sketchbook.

"I don't think Wes has ever been shy about telling people that he enjoys being with them." Kenzie might not have piqued Beau's interest in that way, but could see what drew Wes to her.

It welled up in him again, that question of whether to tell her outright and bring her into his circle of allies. "Thanks, Kenzie. I just hope people like the artist as much as the art." He shrugged. "Then again, 'fuck them' might be a good option if they don't."

Her head bobbed just a little, enough to show she had heard him. "That's very true," she admitted, thinking back to her interactions with Wes.

Kenzie's smile grew when she heard him curse, a soft giggle leaving her. "I fully agree though, fuck them. I don't see how they wouldn't, you've got talent pouring from you. I've seen you on set, I've seen your sketches, you vibrate at a different frequency," she finished. Kenzie finally pushed herself to sit back up. "Think you'll ever share the sketches?" she asked curiously.

Beau's hand moved instinctively to his sketchbook as though he was afraid Kenzie would start snapping pictures and sharing them to Winstagram. It was blatantly irrational and he knew she would never do that, but for a moment it was though his secret had his chest clamped in a vice.

He exhaled, shaking off that feeling, his fingers drumming on the cover. Beau looked over at Kenzie as she sat up. "Not these," he said finally. Many of the sketches of people were just features out of context, but some would still be recognisable. "Too many exes on these pages. I think I'd piss a lot of people off."

A lightbulb went off for Kenzie, too many exes. Sure, she'd noticed Scar in there, but she had assumed it was just people he had had model for him, or that he knew. It hadn't dawned on her that he'd been with them. There were also men in there, she wondered if they were exes too.

"I've got a few pictures of my exes that I took floating around the flat, I understand that. I don't think I'd want those out there either," she admitted, picking at her sweater for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. "I'd think though your drawings are far more intimate than my photographs. They show such love, I think they'd love them," she finished, gathering her thoughts. She had wanted to ask if they were all his exes, even the men, but it was an intrusive question. She respected him more than that.

Preoccupied, Beau missed Kenzie's eureka moment, but he finally forced himself to still his fingers. Love? He couldn't remember the last time he'd allowed himself to feel something that deep. He might have been around Kenzie's age and his refusal to come out meant that it had all led to heartache. Beau wasn't sure if he was capable of feeling that for someone again, but somehow Kenzie thought she could see it in his art.

"Thanks. Maybe one day they'll see the light of day." He cracked a smile. "In the meantime, acting is my first love and the world gets to see plenty of that."

"You're very good at it," she complimented him, giving him a lazy grin. Kenzie laid back then, watching the sky above. She was so glad she'd taken the chance on seeing Beau today. She was rather enjoying sitting in comfortable silence with him.

She brought her camera up to snap a picture of the sky again. "Thank you for having me over."
