Kara did not like this world. She was grateful to have people she knew there, especially Alex and Clark. But she didn’t like that there was so much darkness. She didn’t like that she couldn’t save everyone here. She didn’t like the feelings of hopelessness that seemed to permeate the whole area. She really didn’t know how she would have handled being stuck here on her own. It was unfortunate that any of them were stuck there at all, but it was nice to not be alone. Kara never really had trouble with making friends. She was a very friendly and upbeat person most of the time. But the people who knew her, really knew her, she needed to have them around. She felt bad for being happy when Alex had shown up, same with Clark. And of course there was the whole timeline thing, where people didn’t come from the same times. That was confusing, but she was getting used to it. Kara felt like she was losing herself here. She’d crossed a line when she’d killed the zombies, but she knew she had to do it. She had to protect Serena. And without her powers she had no other options. She’d never put their life above Serena’s or anyone else that was here. So it hadn’t been easy, but Kara had killed the zombies who threatened them. And she still wasn’t sure there wasn’t some other way. Thankfully, her powers returned quickly enough and she got herself and Serena out of there. But the memories of the zombies and the cannibals, they weren’t likely to leave her anytime soon. She needed to talk to someone, to understand how to deal with all of it. And she could think of one person who had seen so much darkness and managed to overcome it. Oliver Queen. Oliver was on sentry duty today, according to the schedule. Sometimes that seemed to just be a lot of standing around. So Kara figured that maybe he’d have some time to talk to her. She needed to catch up with him, anyway. ‘Hey, Oliver.” Kara said, approaching him. He was her friend but she wasn’t quite comfortable enough to call him Ollie yet. It was nice to see a familiar face, even if he wasn’t always the most friendly. Oliver knew how to make the tough calls, he knew how to help people and do what needed to be done, even if that might not be the right thing to some. “Mind if I keep you company for a bit?” |
