It was late (around 10:30 or so in the evening) and Wren Zhang (one of the mansion's newest residents) would still be found pouring over the dusty volumes in one of the quiet corners of the library. She had found that it was one of the only places she could go without having anyone bother her, because even in privately owned libraries they seemed to promote the 'silence is golden' rule, which pleased her. Of course, she wasn't able to avoid people or small talk completely as some of the other residents (mainly the students) occasionally came in to do research, but they let her be for the most part. However, once the sun disappeared from the sky, the library was left presently empty and the new girl was able to be alone with her thoughts.
Sometimes it wasn't always good to be alone with your own thoughts; especially not with the kind of thoughts that were running around her head these days. After having to endure an undetermined amount of time in a 'zombie' infested mall, she found that the memories often plagued her mind, which was probably one of the many reasons why she had difficulty sleeping. Her nights in that deathtrap had never been very restful, and most of the time, she spent those sleepless nights fighting for her life. Literally. If it hadn't been for her powers she wouldn't have survive the first day. And if the X-Men hadn't come when they did, she was almost certain she would've been dead by now.
Gracious and thankful as she was, she hadn't been put at completely ease by her situation. Her life had taken so many dramatic turns since the beginning of the year, it was becoming harder and harder for her to adjust to the changes that were happening. Lucas was dead (and in all likelihood so were her friends and family) and she was a mutant - a mutant who had the ability to render herself completely invisible. It was going to take her time---a lot more time---to be able to readily accept everything as they were now.
Sighing heavily, Wren's attention had been averted from the book she was currently reading (The Iliad) and she glanced out the window her table was next to, which had a very pleasant view of the moonlit grounds; she had noticed some activity out there, but from this distance she could scarcely make out any of the details or if what she was really seeing what she saw. For all she knew, it was the wind rustling through the trees or just a product of her overactive imagination - or perhaps both? Whatever the case might've been, Wren had gotten up off of her chair and moved closer to the window to take a better look at things.
