Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!1998: 02, !incomplete, meghan mccormack, oliver wood

Who: Meghan and Oliver, Open to Penny unless she's conveniently making herself scarce
When: After this and Meghan's subsequent journal entry.
Where: Penny and Oliver's flat
What: Penny's making toast. Meghan's flirting with Ollie while her BFF slaves over a stove.
Rating: TBA. Nothing too bad, I don't think.
Open/Closed: Open to Penny if Jenn wants

Meghan hadn't wasted time in getting over to Penny and Oliver's flat once food had been mentioned. She'd grabbed a quick shower first and it was possible she might have taken a moment to spritz on a little perfume, especially after Oliver's comments in her journal, but that was entirely beside the point, wasn't it?

The important thing to note was the Penny was making French Toast. Penny's French Toast was amazing and Meghan's mouth watered just thinking of it. Especially when it was coupled with an excuse to hang out with Oliver. And possibly flirt with Oliver. As much as she enjoyed enchanging comments over the journals, there was something to be said for a little in-person flirting. Or talking. Whichever you wanted to call it.

Grinning with anticipation, she made her way to the door of her best mate's flat and knocked. Good food, good company. She was definitely looking forward to it.

Oliver wasn't the best cook in the world, but he helped Penny enough to get ingredients and such together and started to cook up the sausage that he was so insistent on.

To humor Penny and Meghan, he did wear an apron. However, the only ones that Penny had were slightly girly with frills and flowers all over it. He felt like the biggest ponce on the planet. But at least it would give Meghan a laugh.

Which at this point he needed to see from her because he couldn't believe that he opened his big mouth that he was trying to proposition her. But she wasn't completely freaked out by it, so he figured it was okay. But he needed reassurance.

So when there was a knock at the door, he set aside what he was doing, grinned at Penny, and jogged to the door, whipping it open. "Welcome to Cafe Wood!"

"Let me guess. It's the Wood that makes it good?" she grinned as she moved into the flat and shrugged out of her coat. The smells of breakfasted wafted out from the kitchen and she was certain she could feel her mouth watering just from the smell. French toast, sausage... it smelled like a little piece of heaven and it really didn't matter that it possibly wasn't quite the right time of day for breakfasting.

She'd been distracted by the scents coming from the kitchen, but a moment later, she focused on Ollie, catching sight of the apron he was wearing. Oliver was, indeed, rewarded with a giggle for his troubles.

"Oh, that is definitely your color," she smirked and she looked him over. There were frills and flowers and lace and it all looked so funny on the man that she just couldn't help laughing.

Tapping her wand against the side of the frying pan to keep it at an even temperture, Penny bustled through from the kitchen in time to hear Oliver and Meghans flirtatious comments to each other.

"I think he means Cafe Clearwater and Wood," she corrected before leaping up to give both her friends a looping armed hug.

"Isn't he the finest figure of a man you've ever seen? I'm going to attach some nice frills and froths of lace to that skirt he calls a kilt."

Her grin turned mischeivious before she leaned round the door of the kitchen to make sure everything was as it ought to be : not on fire.

"How many slices do you want? Four or five?"

"Oh I know, it totally goes with my eyes," he said in an effeminate voice, then laughed over the situation. "Can I take this off now? It's a bit tight...you're smaller then me Pen."

Without waiting for an answer, Oliver took off the apron, then took Meghan's jacket, hanging it up on the coat hooks on the wall near the door. "I think the food's almost done, so you came just in time."

"The finest," Meghan agreed with a grin. Her tone was light and teasing, though there was a hint of truth in her eyes as she exchanged a look with Penny. Not that there was an easy nonverbal way to tell your best friend that her roommate may of may not have propositioned you and that there was a chance a moment alone with said roommate wouldn't be a terrible thing in case he wanted to repeat said propositioning in person.

"Five," she told her friend decisively, sneaking a look at Oliver again to flash him a quick grin. "I'm starving, though, so I hope there's a dessert to follow this up with."

Was there a double meaning to her words? Possibly. It could have been taken either way, because she really was quite hungry and she wouldn't hate some actual dessert, but she also didn't think she'd object to what Ollie had been implying earlier, either. Convenient, that innuendo.

Catching the look, Penny arched her eyebrows before she and Meghan engaged in a wordless conversation of tilts, eyebrow arches and smirks.

She got the picture loud and clear and shooed her friends out of the kitchen whilst she busied herself with the breakfast.

Ten minutes later she slipped out to grab some things from her room and find a pair of shoes. In a bag she had her share of the French Toast and was clearly trying hard not to smirk at her friends.

"I - ah - there was an urgent Owl from work. Simpsons got himself stuck in the unlockable vault again and I can get him out."

Shifting her bag from one hand to another she smoothed down her clothes and offered them both a hopefully apologetic grin. "I have my dinner here, theres some in the kitchen for you both and I don't know when I'll be home. Late probably. Definatly. Very late. So erm, have fun." And there wasn't any innuendo behind that phrase so long as she didn't meet Meghans eyes.

Opening the door, she stooped to pick up her bag and throw it over her shoulder before pausing and giving them both a serious look. "Kitchen table is offlimits. And cleaning charms. Please. Seriously. I mean it. Clean up aftwars."

Slipping out the door she warded it behind her before strolling to the apparition point and wondering what to do with her unexpectedly free evening.

Oliver gave Meghan a smirk and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, I do think that dessert can be arranged." He was pretty sure that, compared to their earlier conversation in journals, there was a double meaning behind their dessert.

He tried to go back into the kitchen but was shooed away, only to be very confused after Penny started to box up some of her food.

When she told them that there was an "urgent owl" from work, he knew Penny was full of it. But he wasn't complaining too much. He waved her bye as she shuffled out of the flat.

"Subtlety isn't her strong point, is it?" he asked Meghan, chuckling at the situation. "Well let's eat. All this food is out here and I'm starving."

Meghan nearly snorted when Penny gave her a series of meaningful and questioning looks only to shoo them both away and announce minutes later that she was being conveniently called away for a work emergency. As if Meghan was actually going to believe that.

"She has the subtlety of an anvil to the head," she agreed, shaking her head and laughing a little, herself. She wasn't complaining, though. Especially after the innuendo they'd exchanged, she really didn't hate the idea of being left alone with Ollie for a bit. After all, she could only imagine what they'd have to listen to if they continued to flirt in front of Penny.

"Brilliant idea." She grinned as he suggested they eat, her own stomach rumbling loudly as she hadn't been exaggerating when she'd told him she was starving, double meaning in the comment about dessert or not. Needless to say, she didn't waste any time heading into the kitchen to grab a plate. It smelled amazing.

Oliver let Meghan gather her plate first, then did the same, loading up on the french toast and sausage. He went to lead them to the dining table, but remembered that he had papers sprawled all over it. He claimed he was doing research for his father for some new stadiums they were thinking about building.

When really, he was looking at different places that could be used as safe houses for muggleborns on the run.

So he led her to the couch and he sat down, flicking his wand at the small coffee table to make it into more of a sitting table for them. "Sorry, I forgot my da had me doing some work for him cause he's not feeling well. Usually the table isn't a mess," he told her, digging into his food.

In between bites, he would glance over at her smiling, then go on about how good the food was and if it would've been up to him, everyone would be forced to cook like Penny. "So, you lot off this weekend?" he asked her as he popped another piece of toast into his mouth.

Meghan shook her head, waving off his apologies. "You should see the state of my flat," she grinned at him, taking a seat alongside him and starting in on her own food. It was delicious, of course. Penny's French Toast always amazed her. She was a decent enough cook, but something about Penny cooking breakfast foods made her feel like... home.

Her mouth full of toast, she nodded her head when he questioned her. "Nothing until the 28th. Save practise, if course. We've plenty of that." She spoke after she'd swallowed. "You lot are playing Montrose, right? Should be a decent match?" She was thinking of attending that one. It felt weird to do something on game day that didn't involve Quidditch.

"This place used to look like my locker till Penny moved in," he said in between shoveling food into his mouth. "I was just always so busy and didn't have to worry about anyone yelling at me for leaving it a mess. I've been doing better though. My room may not be the best at the moment, but nothing that a flick of the wand can't fix," Oliver told her, which may have been a bit of a hint, but he tried not to put too much emphasis on it.

Nodding his head, he wiped his mouth away with a napkin and sat back into the couch with a grin. "It should be. They don't have the best record win loss wise, but they've been scoring a lot of points. Their seeker is pretty decent," he shrugged. "Hopefully we can knock them down a few pegs."

"Penny's good for that. The yelling about the mess. I thought she was going to strangle me a few times when we were at Hogwarts." Meghan laughed at that. As easy as it was to clean up with magic, she'd been and still was lazy about it. It was easy to get that way, anyway, when you lived on your own.

Eyebrows lifted at the mention of his room and his wand. Yes, her mind did just go there and she smirked briefly, but thought the better on commenting on it as though she were still prepubescent.

She nodded as the talk turned to Quidditch. "Not much we can do about the Seeker, is there? I don't imagine they're score a lot of goals, though, at least. As I recall, it's difficult to get much past you."

"Either they score a lot of goals but never catch the snitch, or the other way around. But it's only been enough for them I believe twice?"

Oliver blushed at the compliment. He knew he was good, and usually he would beam with pride, but something about the comment coming from not only a player he respected, but someone who he was interested in as a person, made his cheeks a bit pink.

"I just do what I can, aye? Hopefully I'll be on my game for this one."

"I might just have to come, put on a short skirt and be your own personal cheerleader." She winked at him, grinning a little before poking another forkful of french toast into her mouth. It had been meant to be a cheeky comment, though she realized as she made it that she was tempted to do just that. She was confident enough that she didn't think for a second that he wouldn't want her there.

I'll even charm the Puddlemere colours into my hair," she continued as she swallowed. It had been ages since she'd taken in a match as a spectator, actually. It could be fun. She wondered if she could get Penny to join her even if they did, of course, differ on which teams they should be supporting. It was Ollie, though. She figured they could cheer for the same team just this once in favor of him.

"Hmmm I'd rather like that actually," he smirked playfully. "Though the short skirt could be distracting in a bad way. I think if you did that everyone would think you were there to sabatogue me or something." Oliver popped the last piece of his toast into his mouth and chuckled. "I really would like it if you came though," he added as an afterthought.

"My stomach now feels like it's going to explode from all that food."

"Is that so?" Meghan affected a coy expression and she pretended to be surprised by his words. "The great Oliver Wood would be so easily distracted by the sight of me in a short skirt? I'd no idea." It was difficult to keep a straight face, though, and a moment later she was smirking, making it obvious that she was teasing at least a little.

"Maybe we'll save the short skirt for after the game, then. I'd hate to be responsible for the opposing team rising any higher in the ranks, after all." It was settled, though. She'd definitely be attending that match.

As the last bite of her own food was popped into her mouth, Meghan couldn't help but agree with him. She was more than a little stuffed. She didn't merely nod her head, though. Again, she smirked a little more. "Does that mean you didn't save room for dessert, Wood?" she teased him softly.

"Well, when a fit bird wears a short skirt specifically for him? Yeah, I think he'd get a little. Distracted," he told her, letting his face get dangerously close to Meghan's.

Grinning, he jumped up, taking their now empty plates to the kitchen, then did a quick cleaning charm so they would clean themselves.

Oliver walked behind the couch and put his hands on Meghan's shoulders, rubbing them briefly then leaned down to whisper in her ear, "I can always make room for desert."

Bold? Yeah, he was feeling it.

That was most definitely the response she had been looking for, though she had to hold back a little wine of disappointment when he jumped up just as his face had gotten so close to hers. Tease. The thought lingered in the back of her mind, though she managed to keep it silent.

A grin lit up her face as he returned, though, hands on her shoulders and she tilted her head just slightly toward him at his whispered response.

"Is that a fact?"

"It is."

Oliver had an opening. A giant gaping hole that all he had to do was step through it. And even though he can be generally smooth at times, he wasn't so much at that moment.

When he tried to lean in to kiss her lips, he missed when she moved her head and landed between her jaw and her neck.

He almost pulled away in a panic, then remembered that he can be smooth at times and worked with that and gently kissed down her neck to her shoulder.

Hopefully she wouldn't think he was a complete dolt.

If you thought about it, that was just as much Meghan's fault as his, because she'd had to go and turn her head just as he'd been trying to kiss her. She thought he had, anyway. It looked like he had and then his lips had landed somewhere decidedly not her lips and she was stuck between mentally kicking herself for that shift and wondering if he'd really meant to kiss her after all.

A smile tugged at her lips as his kissed down her neck, her moment of over-analytic crazy gone as she let herself enjoy that. "Good... dessert is my favorite part of the meal, you know," she murmured, keeping up the little ruse of innuendo, even though those lips were a little distracting. She reached back to thread a set of fingers in his hair and thought for a moment that the back of the couch was quite inconveniently in the way at the moment, but she almost didn't mind just now, because his lips on her neck felt nice.

Oliver realized that the back of the couch was in the way as well, but at that moment her fingers felt really good as they slid through his hair and he really wasn't thinking about how to solve the issue.

"Sometimes I'd rather skip right to desert," he mumbled into her skin, then decided that the couch was going to be the death of him. He hoisted himself over the couch and landed next to Meghan, took a deep breath, then leaned in and kissed her lips gently.

Merlin, it was about time he got to do that.

Meghan could barely nod her agreement to that before he was moving again and she could only grin as he moved over the back of the couch to land next to her. Smooth, she thought, impressed. There was no time to voice anything, though, before a moment later there were lips and this time she didn't screw it up by turning her head at the wrong moment.

There was a smile on her lips as she returned this kiss. It had been a long time building up to this - hanging out, flirting, hinting at the possibility. Meghan couldn't say it wasn't worth the wait, but she also couldn't help feeling glad that they'd finally gotten around to this.

One hand cupped her face, the other rested on her knee, squeezing it every so often as they kissed. Never did he think that after they ran into each other months ago at a spa of all places that they'd be on his couch snogging. But he definitely wasn't arguing.

Now Oliver was just praying that Penny wasn't going to walk in on this moment, because that would be slightly awkward. But he also didn't want to just up and say 'hey let's move to my room,' because that would also be slightly awkward since they'd only been in their current position for a few moments.

So he just leaned into the kiss a bit and hoped that maybe it would get hot and heavy that they wouldn't have a choice but to go to his room.

Meghan wasn't thinking about Penny. Not remotely. Not in the slightest. Then again, Meghan knew not to worry about Penny walking back in on them anytime soon. She'd caught her expression, she'd seen through her excuses. Penny had left to give them this opportunity and she knew they'd be lucky (or, well, unlucky) to see her again before morning.

Not that she was going to be opposed if this led to having to move away from the sofa and into his room. But Meghan definitely wasn't thinking about Penny or much of anything else that didn't involve keeping her lips pressed to Oliver's. The kiss had been a long time coming and she was focused on enjoying it.

The kiss deepened a little more and Meghan's fingers threaded in his hair as she hummed approvingly against his lips. This was very, very nice. Later, she'd definitely remember to thank her best mate for her fortuitous, if transparent, exit.

That approving hum made him smile against her lips as they kissed. He still wasn't sure if moving to the bedroom was completely appropriate yet, but he at least wanted to move this into a better direction - and a better position.

Oliver snaked his arm around Meghan's waist and placed his hand on the small of her back. He carefully pushed back to lower her down onto the couch, the whole time not breaking the kiss.

Once he had her laid back, he tried to keep himself up on his elbows so he wasn't completely crushing her. While they were both Quidditch players and strong, he didn't want to smash her to death.

Except he was trying too hard to be smooth about it all and when he tried to lower himself down, he lost his balance on his elbows and fell off the couch and almost hit his head off the coffee table.

He was so embarrassed that all he could do was laugh.

Was it a bad sign that Meghan was barely cognizant of their movement? She was vaguely aware of being shifted into a position that was much, much more comfortable, but she was so much more focused on Oliver's lips. They were nice lips. He had a nice flavor and a nice smell and she decided that she rather liked the feel of them together like this. Snogging Oliver Wood was definitely something she should have thought to try before now.

Everything happened kind of quickly after that, though. She felt him move away from her (though, not of his own accord, it seemed) and the next thing she knew, he was on the floor and laughing. It was mean, but she couldn't help laughing along with him.

"Smooth, Wood," she teased him, unable to resist. "Do you need me to kiss it better?"

Still laughing, Oliver sat up and crossed his arms on the couch where Meghan's head laid and smiled. "Hmmm, maybe?"

Before she could answer, he leaned in and kissed her again for a moment. "So I wasn't planning on being so forceful with this, but maybe we should move to my room? It'll probably be more comfortable and safer for me. I won't fall off of that..."

Oliver reached up and ran his fingers through her long, curly hair. He'd been with girls before where he's had his fun and never gave it a second thought, but he didn't want that with Meghan. He wanted to enjoy the time they were having together, but if it just happened to end in more then just a snog, he wasn't going to complain.

Meghan giggled at that, easily meeting the brief kiss. When he pulled away again and suggested a relocate, she laughed. He did raise a good point.

"You don't fancy a trip to St. Mungos?" she teased him. His fingers were in her hair and that distracted her for a moment as he eyes closed and she hummed quietly at the feel of his fingers against her head. That felt nice.

She was going to agree, though. She couldn't help taking a moment to tease him and she wasn't necessarily saying she wanted to do more than snog a little, but she didn't object to a change in location, regardless of what happened after than.

"I think I'll be alright. No major damage. I'll be able to play another day," he grinned, kissing her again.

Oliver stood up and took Meghan's hands, pulling her up from the couch carefully. Without saying anything else, he curled his hand into one of hers, linking their fingers together, and led her to his bedroom.

He made a cringing face when he saw that it was a bit messier than he thought it was, but a quick flick of his wand and clothes and quidditch gear went flying through the room into a more proper place. "My abode," he said with a hand motion to his room.

"That's good to hear. The fangirls would never forgive me." She grinned, too, smiling a little more as she kissed her again. Kissing Oliver Wood was definitely not the worst way to pass the time. In fact, she rather liked it.

She let him pull her from the couch, letting her fingers twine with them as they made their exit from the living room.

"Nice." She grinned again at the slight mess in his room. She smirked as his clothes and quidditch gear went flying as he cleaned up. Actually, she liked that it wasn't spotless. Meghan had always been a fan of a slight mess.
