From One Prison to Another [Jareth]
"We are pleased to say that the two of you have successfully completed your rehabilitation programs and will be provided with immediate release to The City. Remember to mind the food pyramid, drink four full glasses of water a day, and start each morning by looking in the mirror and giving yourself a compliment. Like, My! I am a very handsome fellow. Or, I love myself! Don't forget! An apple a day keeps the monsters away. And always look both ways before crossing the street! Here, have some multivitamins for the road."
The overly cheerful nurse handed both Spock and Jareth a bottle of Flintstones Vitamins (cherry, orange, and grape flavored chewables.) Spock looked at the bottle with a sense of wary suspicion. Since they had ceased his medication from the night before, his mind was becoming much more clearer. It seemed that his paranoia was warranted. There was something inherently wrong with this place. Not that such information should have come as such a great surprise to him. This entire city was wrong. Nothing about it made sense. It defied more laws of the universe than Spock could count. (Not true, actually, as Spock could count very high -- he had a good retention for numerical values.) But that was little to the matter. The point was that The City was something entirely unlike anything else that Spock had ever encountered.
And he hoped that when he returned to the Enterprise (which should have still been safely hovering above the cityscape,) he would find a way to return to his spectrum of reality.
"Hurry up now!" A guard insisted. "We don't have all day! Do you want to leave or not?"
Spock looked over at his partner in departure. He was not familiar with the man. That is to say, that Spock did not recognize him from his time within Arkham. Nor did he recognize him from before his unannounced capture in the asylum. The man did not, however, look as though he were faring as well as Spock.
Then again, Spock was very well adapted at controlling himself and his body (even when under the influence of powerful medications.)
"Do you require any assistance?" Spock asked.
