Who: Sam & Dean Winchester
Where: The Bunker
When: 10/25 - evening
What: Practicing for the play.
Status: Closed
Warnings: Profanity

Naturally, Dean didn't agree with Sam when he said the blame for Adam should be split between the two of them. Sam wasn't aware that he had been given a choice, Sam's soul or Adam, and that he had obviously chosen the broken soul. But, there was no need for him to know that, for anyone to know it. It had been an impossible choice on his part, much like everything else in his life. He had been willing to die for his brother, to get his soul back. It had been nearly ten years ago and here he was, reliving the situation all over again.

He was grateful that Sam had said yes and was willing to help him. The two of them hadn't spent much time together, and Dean was hoping this would be something stupid for them to do together, with hopefully nothing to fight over. Dean grabbed his script from his bedroom and made his way to the stairs, humming to himself as he walked. He could do it, he knew he could, he just needed to work a little harder at it. "Hey, charming, how long does it take to grab some beers?" He called out from the stairs, waiting for Sam.

Self-blame and guilt were specialties of the Winchester's. Sam wasn't as good at it as Dean was, but he had his moments, and even without a soul in his body he was 'feeling' shitty about a few things. What they had sort of discussed - Adam. Dean had tried to ask Sam who had said Adam hated him, but he was slowly becoming the reigning monarch of deflection and drew Dean's attention away. Sam was the one who thought that. Dean had said once he needed some empathy in his life, and to be able to grasp the situation better he had put himself in Adam's place. If their positions had been reversed, if Adam had been the one to drag Sam down to Hell with him, and the last face he had seen when that nightmare had started had been Adam's? He'd hate him. So he tried to give him peace, so he stayed away from him.

His thoughts were broken when he heard Dean all out to him from the other room, and he grabbed a handle and left the room. He was glad that he and Dean were spending time together. There had been a few years where they had constantly been together, and not really tiring of each other (often) spoke of the strength of their relationship. He really didn't need anybody else, he wasn't the social creature that Dean was, and this, what they were doing right now, just practicing for a show that Dean was in, was another one of their moments that was going on his highlight reel.

"This long, ass," Sam walked over to the stairs and held up the object, a small, familiar ice chest, up before he set it on the floor and pulled out two cold ones and gave one to Dean. "I had to go outside. Saves on the mess and the back and forth so we can just focus on this and making sure you nail your lines."

He looked at his brother with a slightly stunned expression and took the offered beer from Sam with a crooked grin. "Okay, you're forgiven for taking so long. You're the best, Sammy." Dean popped the cap off and then clinked it against Sam's before taking a long swig from the bottle. "So, anyway-" there was a part of him that had been thinking about dropping from the musical, maybe asking Alec to take his place, but he wanted to do it. If Dean Winchester didn't back away from certain death, he definitely wasn't about to back away from a stupid musical.

"She told me to figure out his emotions and shit, and I said he seems like a selfish bastard. Singing the song is so much easier than the rest of the shit, I have no idea why. I feel like I can pull the rest of it off, aside from this one scene. Where he finds her in the woods and he's all, come here my darling princess, I shall protect you from the giant. But, she's not interested because he banged someone else."

Sam drank in short sips as he listened to Dean, his lips turning up in a smile as Dean mentioned singing. Was there dancing? While he was kind of familiar with the play, a lot of people were, he had never been to Broadway to see it. He didn't know exactly how the characters would act... or if they would dance as they sang - in which case he was definitely going to be there, even if he had to come from his deathbed - but he knew the Grimm brother's works, and he knew Into the Woods was inspired by their stuff.

"So you've got the singing stuff down, dancing too?" He cleared his throat and continued. "And you only have issues with this one part that you have to speak." He set his beer down on the top of the closed ice chest. "Okay, so you probably just wanna bounce lines off of me until you're less wooden, but, Charming - might have been more than just a selfish bastard. He's really handsome, probably the most desired prince in the land, and he knows it, so he's arrogant. And a douche. So he probably just assumes Cinderella will want his protection because he's a typical alpha male, he probably doesn't know strong women exist. I know it's going to be hard to pretend to be handsome," he teased, "but that's the kind of leap you might have to make."

"I wouldn't say I have it down, but I mean, it's pretty easy. It's just me and this other dude trying to out lament each other. I have some other talking parts, but those are pretty easy. Maybe I'm overthinking it..." Dean mused aloud, sipping at his beer. "Dancing? No, not so much, there's choreography for the one song, but it's like, jump here, run there, blah, blah, blah." He began to pace as he listened to what Sam was telling him about the character, things he hadn't really thought of.

He turned swiftly to glare at Sam over his comment about pretending to be handsome. "According to Alexis, I'm a chesty prince, so, she at least thinks I'm handsome. She's pretty hot, too, plays Rapunzel, I went out with her a few nights ago." He was rambling now, though he was still thinking about what Sam had just said. "You know, I'm not sure what to be more offended by. The fact you said I'm ugly, or that you think I'm an arrogant, selfish bastard who thinks he's better than everyone." He knew Sam was right though, he did have his moments where his arrogance got the better of him, and he did enjoy protecting the ladies, but moreso because it made him feel useful and needed. "Maybe I should watch the movie again..."

Sam was disappointed that the dancing would be no more than prancing, but watching Dean do it was worth the price of a ticket. He was going to be there anyway because there's no way he wouldn't support Dean, but he might as well entertain himself at Dean's expense a little bit too.

Sam made sure to roll his eyes where Dean could see it as he drank again and sat down on the fifth step. "Chesty could mean she thinks you have manboobs. I mean, hot chicks are into stuff like that sometimes." He listened to Dean go on, his brow furrowing. "Let me fix it. It might be hard to pretend to be a handsome, narcissistic, mouth breathing, douche nozzle, but it's called acting and you can do it. I mean, seriously, you've been Agent/Ranger/Father/Seargent Rock Star more than you've been Dean Winchester. So give me the script and hopefully you've memorized your -," Sam paused as he stood and walked over to Dean to get the script. "Dude, there's a movie?"

"No, she does not think I have manboobs, you ass." Dean scoffed in response, though he quickly dropped his gaze to check out his chest, his hands coming up to cop a quick feel, just to be sure. His head cocked to the side and he looked at Sam with surprise, definitely glad he had asked his brother for some assistance. "Dude, you're so fucking right. I'm acting all the time, I can do this, I totally got this."

He exclaimed with more determination as he handed Sam the script, puffing out his chest a little. "You're the best, Sammy, I don't know what I'd do without you." Dean rolled his shoulders and his neck, loosening himself up a bit to get out any tension he was holding in his body. "Oh, yeah, you didn't know there was a movie?"

"Crash and burn," he grinned at Dean and took the script, pretty glad that he could get that kind of reaction from his brother. That was more like it, he sounded more confident in his abilities. And this kind of brother stuff was easy, not like the girl stuff, which he doubted he needed anyway. This he could do. "See Manboobs? You just needed the right encouragement. This is all you, you can do it."

He looked down to the papers he was holding, and flipped through it giving every page a flip before he moved back to the page Dean had it open to. "I know now, I'm probably from before the movie was made. But I know what we, you and me, are doing after you nail this."

"Manboobs, I'll give you manboobs." Dean muttered under his breath, happy that something so stupid was bringing them together. "What? You're from before the- ohhhh, right, got it. I have no idea what year it came out, but you're probably right." He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, tossing out his first few lines ridiculously over the top. After his blow out with Sabrina, he had made sure to memorize what little lines he had in the show.

Strangely enough, going over the top with everything made him feel more at ease and he was much more comfortable than he was a few days ago. He was by far an amazing actor, but he thought he was doing pretty damn good. "You should teach acting, you'd be great at it." After the scene had finished, dean drained his beer and went for a second. "I feel so much better, seriously."
