Finding her anchor — though perhaps it wasn't the best anchor to find — meant a regain of control for Erica Reyes. It meant brand new options. It meant way less restrictions. And, most of all, it meant getting her life back completely now that she could keep a reign on all her faculties even with the full moon present and accounted for. Finding her anchor meant Erica Reyes could fully be Erica Reyes.
It also meant that there were some brand new things she needed to get really good at really fast, though. She wasn't an idiot; she knew there were parts of being a werewolf that needed upkeep just as much as keeping in shape needed work. Because of that, she'd spent a lot of her time essentially studying herself and everything she could do. Now that Cora was gone, the only other person she could really ask about things like this was Scott... and Erica was staying far away from Scott McCall. For reasons.
Perhaps, if she couldn't figure out something for herself, she'd track him down. Maybe.
Today, she'd decided to take to the woods and practice using her senses while running. She'd gone running with Kate and Cora and that Hope girl before not too long after she'd found her anchor, but she wasn't on the same level as the first two. She needed to get there. She needed to get there because she wanted to get there. Not because anyone was expecting her to. But there was still that part of her that wanted to make her Alpha proud of her, whether he was there or not.
So, with the knowledge of where to go and where not to go within the woods, Erica had transformed into the very hairy (seriously, did there have to be so much hair?) version of herself and took off. She gave in fully to the senses of the wolf she'd become, working like hell to not let the human part of her interfere in a way that would have her ending up running face-first into a tree.
Of course, that just meant that she failed to note the vine on the ground and went face-first into the leafy surface instead.
Growling under her breath, Erica stood and brushed herself off, popping her neck and rolling her shoulders. Take two. Her feet bounced off the ground and she took off again.
This was nothing more than trial and error. She'd done it a million times when trying to figure out what she could and couldn't do when her Epilepsy had set in. This was just one more obstacle to overcome. And damn it, she was going to do get it done.
