Note to Self: never ask a self involved person 'how's things with you'. You will lose your whole day and end up unable to keep all your appointments!

Between the drink that lasted two hours with this girl talking about herself the whole time (not my idea of fun), Scooby's groomer not knowing how to handle a Great Dane at all, the DMV arguing with me about my own age and my bank freezing my card due to 'suspicious activity', I've been having a bad day.

I hate having to call my parents for help but I literally cannot argue with the DMV and the bank all on one day.

Boy do I need a drink.

Yeah, I learned that pretty early on into my first residency. Lost several hours one day that I will never ever get back.

What kind of person thinks they are that interesting that they can talk about themselves for hours and not let anyone else get a word in?

More than you'd think or so I've found, unfortunately.

I tend to make non committal sounds these days.

It's ridiculous! Like, I could see it if she were travelling the world and saving people or changing lives or rescuing animals.

But she's a magazine model. And not to sound conceited, but she's not even a good one.

She clearly surrounds herself with a lot of people who allow her to live in the delusional state that she is the centre of the universe.

I'm not sure where she finds them in our industry, unless it's all the fledgling models. Which I could see her doing, because that way she's the most important person in the group.

That would make sense. People like that tend to pick out company who won't disagree or attempt to challenge the status quo.

Exactly, and that doesn't feel like the kind of life to lead. It'd be so lonely.

Yeah, I think it would be the worst kind of lonely there is. The whole being surrounded by people and still feeling completely alone and totally not seen.

While being vapid and self obsessed to the point of utter ignorance? Yeah, not the kind of life to live.

Yeah, no. Definitely not the life to be living. It'll all just end in tears.

Yeah, super gross ugly tears that'll do no one any good and make her face blotchy.

Is that mean?

Girls who seem to think that their contribution to the world warrants talking solely about themselves for an afternoon. I don't even think she asked how I was at all.

I'm somewhere in the middle, on the talk about self thing. I don't mind, I can contribute to conversations, but I like a little talk about how others are.

But, I am doing a little better after my day from hell. I think venting about it really helps. I just need to work out what's going on at the bank!

That's probably healthy.

Sometimes we just need to let it out. Hopefully it's just a mistake, and they'll be able to get it cleared up.

I think so. I mean, friendships are built on a give and take, and while they might need to get something out, it's good if they're prepared to listen to me with even just small input on my own life. Whatever, she's clearly not someone I can build a valuable friendship with.

Gosh, right? I think I talk to Scooby so much he gets sick of me! But I hope so too, I need to use my credit card until it's sorted and that's just a nightmare because I'm so tense about bad credit and stuff.

It doesn't sound like it. I assume the two of you aren't close?

Just remember to stay in your budget, and you should be fine. I'm sure they'll figure it out. And I hear dogs are very forgiving.

Not especially, we ran in similar circles in New York and we're both in Cali for just now.

I think I can do that, I'm not so bad about budgets, I just need to not go shopping. Scooby is a blessedly loving boy, so you're probably right.

I mean, my dad isn't insane or anything like that, y'know? He's a property developer but it does mean he knows people who know people, y'know?

Totally painting my dad as a Bond villain right there.

I'm not entirely sure.

I don't use that card online, I have a different one for online so I can track payments better. And it's my actual bank card, not a credit card, so all the transactions are there to see.

The only thing I can think of is that I bought a condo! But they knew about that because I had to get my credit checked first for my mortgage.

I don't think so, I'm not noticing anything else that isn't my actions.

I really don't use it much!
