One thing has become absolutely clear to me since I've started dreaming: it doesn't matter what world you live in, whether it's this one or the dream one, the world is a terrible place. I don't mean to say it's inherently evil. It isn't. It's just nature not giving a damn, and that's fine; yet, when you include humans, or any humanoid creature for that matter, that nature becomes manipulated into something terrible.
Most will argue that there is plenty of good in this world, we just don't get visions of it on the news like we do the violence--but why is that? It's because violence sells, and why is that? Because maybe, while nature in and of itself isn't inherently evil, humanity is? There is so much wrong with this world, and we create our laws and justice system to fight it, but I find too often that justice isn't handed out. Justice is a thin shield that protects only a few and fails in so many more ways. That's not an insult to the police, or the military; I was military, I get fighting for justice, yet even I, as a Vet, still understand that not everything I fought for... was in the name of a better world. Maybe me, personally, but not my missions, not my government.
Why do I bring this up? Because I'm struggling to understand... is there a real thing such as justice, and at what point is it necessary for us to take it into our own hands?
