So anyone up for a random or planned interaction with Dari? I know Teg was going to invite Leland to a show, put that seems to have stalled. My muse seems to be on holiday, so I ask you for inspiration! (If someone wants to do an NPC kind of post that could be cool too :) )

new character!!

Greetings fellow players! This is Lisa, Sibyla's player, here to bring you another character! This is Rowena, a seer from the Barrier Domain. She spent the last few years as Queen Delyth's personal seer but she grew tired of being her lapdog so she took off. She's pretty sweet and kind-hearted, but also a bit naive and definitely used to being taken care of. Also, she can be a bit creepy when she Sees things. Anyway! She could use some plot - she needs a job, for one, so if anyone is looking for anything in particular in that department let me know. She's very physically weak, though, so nothing too strenuous. Also, since she sort of Sees things without really meaning to, that means she is a great plot device if you want her to help set something in motion for your character by Seeing something in particular.

The way her visions work is she sees images around people's heads - the more important or influential the person, the more likely they are to have images - though the images are often cryptic and hard to decipher. She does occasionally get full on visions, though, and she'll speak but generally she won't remember what she says. BEWARE STORERS - Rowena's talent is pretty involuntary and while it generally feeds pretty harmlessly off whatever heat happens to be around, her visions cause her to pull pretty strongly on any available power source without her knowledge, so your character will feel it if nearby when she has a full on vision, though whether this is successful is up to you. If she doesn't get enough power, she passes out until her strength gets restored.

Anyway! Let me know if you want plot or a scene or anything, let me know! There is lots of potential and she's eager to meet new people and set up a new life for herself so throw some ideas at me here or feel free to IM me at BrightShiningly!

I'll be posting something a little later on today or tomorrow to help the whole plague plot along, especially in case anyone's having some trouble getting in on it.

Again if someone needs some NPC interaction, just let us know and we can try to accommodate! We have a few NPCs who need to start making appearances anyway. ;)

Sorry I've been a bit scarce - things have been very busy lately! I just wanted to let everyone know that the scarcity will continue a bit. I am going to be on vacation! I will have internet access during most of the vacation but I probably won't be on too much. Anyway, I will do my best to reply when I am able!

Back again, back again, jiggity jig.

Greetings and salutations. To those who actually know who I am, look who's back, bb! To those who don't, my name is Otto and this post marks my triumphant return from hiatus. Granted, the only thing that makes it "triumphant" is the fact that I've actually survived this long. There've been a few moments of doubt. Anyway, I promised a re-introduction so here we go.

This guy right here is Caradoc Sungrim, better known as Doc. He's an Exorcist, so firestarting, healing and necromancy. The healing and necromancy can pretty much be ignored, though, because he sucks at both and rarely uses them. Firestarting is his thing. To summarize him, he's a grumpy hermit. For more, check out his bio.

I've also got Alis, over at [info]thoughtsmith. She's an Invigilator, which means reading, flying and storing, and she's also the local blacksmith. She's quiet and cheerful and definitely not to be underestimated. Her bio can be found here.

So yeah. That's it. That's all. There is no more. Unless you count the fact that I've suddenly got a really nasty headache. Boo.

Announcements

Sorry it's been a bit quiet here. It's been terribly busy and we didn't mean to leave you hanging! We just wanted to let you know that if you need more mod/npc help to get the plot rolling please ask us. If someone wants to create or interact with an npc, you can feel free to make your own, or ask us to play one with/for you.

Also, we've added to the rules some. One: players can now have up to three characters, though they still can't be characters that would normally interact with each other. Two: There can be up to two of any given title in game. It occurred to us that if someone brought in, say a doyen, meanwhile someone already in game had been pimping for a doyen relative, that would be terribly unfair to the player pimping, because our old rules only let there be one of each. Meaning the player advertising would have had to change the title of their wanted character because we accepted an unconnected doyen. Not cool.

So it's up to two for now, but we'll try to give some wiggle room if someone needs a specific title filled that's already in play.

So... who's up for getting sick?

Just because I'm wondering how we are going to be working the sickness chain (as one person has to use talents on or have talents used on them). I also felt the need to volunteer Everil for falling ill (the poor dear). It would be interesting to have her extra private life/thoughts projected at others to see how she'd deal. Also asking for suggestions I suppose, like maybe doing a bad Reading or have someone project his/her thoughts at her.

And since this is an overall plottery, does anyone definitely want to be the first character to get sick?

Plottery #1 results

Based on the post here, and the comments/ideas you all came up with, it seemed like a good idea to make a new discussion post regarding the possibility of going ahead with a plague plotline. The idea of a magical plague was suggested, with the possibility of "opposite talents" as a symptom. This link was an idea we had about what you guys gave us to work with. 

Here were the opposites we came up with so far:

Beguiling --> repulsing. Instead of drawing people in/looking more attractive, this talent pushes people away, makes them not want to be around you.

Elating--> being stuck in one place or unable to leave an area. (inability to teleport)

Firestarting --> Ice/water creating.

Flying --> sinking/subterranean travel.

Healing --> harming (attempts to heal hurt instead)

Moving --> fixing things to one spot, unable to be moved.

Necromancy --> life-giving/creation/resurrection.

Reading --> projecting. Instead of reading others' thoughts, you project your own into their heads.

Seeing --> instead of precognition, it’s retro-cognition. You see the past, not the future.

Shape-shifting --> mental change instead of physical. Instead of changing physically, you take on the personality of whoever/whatever you intend to change into. (This includes animals)

Storing --> instead of storing power for oneself, it is immediately given (involuntarily) to someone nearby who is attempting to use a talent the more power stored makes a person weaker so they have to give it away? (Yeah we like this better)

If someone has a different/better suggestion for any of these, please comment. If you choose to let this happen to your character they don't have to have ALL their talents affected (if they have more than one). But whichever talent it affects, it will continue to do so until the end of this plot arc aka when a cure is found. What do you all think? Feedback is love!

Ok brainfart. I'm not actually sure why I screened plottery comments... So if it's okay with everyone, I'd like to go unscreen them so we can see who suggests what so we don't get duplicate comments.

However if you'd rather them stay screened, that's totally fine. What say you all?

Plottery #1!

Hi everybody! Hi Dr. Nick! Ahem. Anyway... One of our players has expressed interest in starting the first plottery, and we agree! Now's a good time since we have a bit of diversity among the players. So what we need from you is for you to comment here or just email us with the subject "plottery" with an idea for an all-encompassing plot. More information on how this all works here. Keep in mind, it doesn't need to be grand, just something that could involve a number characters. You don't have to suggest anything, but the more ideas we get, the better! 

We'll select one at random and implement it in game. We'll talk to the player whose idea it was to help us fit it into game parameters, if need be. This means you can come up with anything, so long as we can work to make it fit in this world. (We'll tell you right now, one of our deus ex machina excuses is going to be "Wizards did it."). Know that you don't have to participate in the selected plot if you aren't comfortable or pleased with it, but just make sure that you're not avoiding plots and not submitting any either! In other words, don't refuse to submit ideas and then be unhappy when what's selected isn't up your alley. Hopefully we can at least take turns pleasing everyone. We want to try to keep everyone happy as possible so if something isn't working for you, let us know! 

Any ideas that don't get used right away will be held onto for future plotteries, or you can feel free to re-suggest it for the next one. We'll keep this post open for suggestions until Saturday, and then we'll post the plottery result on Sunday with a way to get everyone involved right away! Plottage, plottage, anyone plottage?

Sooo... besides shamelessly campaigning for a husband and fiancée (male or female) for Dari here, I'm also offering her up for entertainment and other various plots. She should be making her appearance advertising (in city inns and the like) for the Wanderers who will soon be camping outside of Sapphire City. So if you are looking for entertainment (for detailed ideas, see Dareshta's bio), it would definitely be the spot to hit up! :) I'm also open for plotting with the Wanderers as a whole (since Dari is, as of now, the only one)

Also, besides perhaps having Aoife yell at Everil to cause her to have a life-altering, life choice second guessing, paradigm shift soon, I'm also up for anyone else to include her in other plots as well.

Since I should be official about this

Just FYI to all, I started a new job on the 14th which eats up most of my day. Blogging sites are blocked for the most part, because of the risk of posting sensitive materials. Stuff like Google docs is blocked too, so that means any replies I get out during the day (Mon-Fri) are via phone.

When I get home, I'm usually too dead to come online, so I've asked the mods to add my email address to the contact list, as another way to reach me if needed. Bottom line: I'm still here, just slower than usual. Hopefully I can be back on AIM when I get more used to my schedule.

Hiatus

I've talked to the mods a few times regarding some personal issues but I just wanted to make it official. Seeing as I'm in the process of moving, amongst other things, I'm going to be remaining MIA for a while. I'll reintroduce my characters when I'm back, for the benefit of any new folks, and then I'll actually do something around here. Until then, continue having fun without me, mmkay? Mmkay. Now I'm off to write a letter of resignation with which to quit my current day job. Yay for life. Only...kind of not.

Another little announcement

We went ahead and added a few more talents today, so now there are five in each category, plus the single talent of each kind. That should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 66 different titles at this current time. Since the game is still very small, there's not much need to add many more at this point, but feel free to submit names and combinations you think of that we can add to for the future!

Hey everyone!

Just to let you all know, we were doing a little work on the map today and we added a few things to clear some stuff up. We saw a few people having trouble figuring out how the domain's laid out exactly, so we figured we'd give a clearer outline, although you're all welcome to gloss things over or come up with something that works for you!

The King's palace is now clearly marked, as well as the location of the big city area (Sapphire City) where most stuff will likely be taking place. Don't worry if anything you may have threaded contradicts what's written there; we can always tweak stuff. We're going to grow together as a community and all your input is wanted and appreciated! Also, if you have anything you'd like added to the map, the locations, the titles, or anything else, just let us know.

Announcement!

So we didn't hit ten characters early, but that doesn't mean we won't be opening on time. Most people are out celebrating New Year's but if you're ready and willing and able, the game officially opens at midnight in whatever time zone you happen to be in. We're not expecting much activity right away, but if anyone's chomping at the bit, go for it!

For all active holds: your holds will now last until January 8th. You will still be allowed one extension. After that the hold gets dropped and will be up for grabs. If you have any questions, please email us at thetruemods(@)gmail(.)com.

For the first few weeks/month or so of play, we will just be getting acquainted. We will then run our first plottery, and pick a plot to run. But for now, happy playing!
