San Francisco. It’s a city of wonder, of diversity, and of things that go bump in the night. It’s a place where people can come to see the ocean side and enjoy all that a big city has to offer its people, and a place where even the most vicious of demons might find a good snack or two. And where you might find a great seafood dinner at Pier 39, you might also find the mangled remains of a person who’s been mysteriously drained of all their blood. But you don’t really have anything to worry about when visiting, because while San Francisco is neither fully safe or completely dangerous, it is home to the three greatest witches of our age – the Charmed Ones.
But times are hard for everyone, including the three sisters. Having recently lost the oldest and most powerful and gaining a long-lost and inexperienced sister, adjusting to their new lives has proven itself to be a challenge even after all they've been through. Meanwhile, Sunnydale's having their own fair share of problems, but with their big bad having gone and sought out something called "the Nexus" somewhere in San Francisco, the Scooby Gang has no choice but to follow.
So come one, come all to Everybody’s Favourite City, where you might find yourself a great dinner by the Bay, or be that great dinner by the Bay.

Overview
On January 1st 2008, 100 people gave up a year of their lives to science. Each person was told that they would be part of a social experiment. Each person believed that their experiment was the only one. Each person believed that they would not be expected to deal with anything they couldn’t handle.
Each person was wrong.
At the beginning of September 2008, the authorities shut the experiments down and it was only then that the full extent began to come to light. There had not been one experiment, but five. And there were more than the original 100 people involved. As well as the original subjects, the scientists who ran the experiments had supplemented and replaced as people had dropped out and, in more than a handful of cases, died.
Nobody knew what the purpose of the experiments was, but one thing became clear very quickly – the participants were all severely traumatised by their experiences. And so they were each made an offer. They would each receive counselling, together with anything which they had been promised by the scientists in the way of financial compensation. They would be housed and given the opportunity to slowly reintegrate into society. Each participant was encouraged to agree to this and a town specifically provided to house them all. This way they would be surrounded by people who had been through similar experiences, as well as trained counsellors and ‘normal’ people employed to move to the town and supplement the participants, running stores and the town structure. Participants were encouraged to obtain employment, or given the opportunity to enroll in distance learning schemes. To get on with their lives, but to do so in isolation, distanced from the rest of the world.
The question was, was it actually over? Were they actually free? Or had the experiment simply moved on to the next stage?
Was this all just still a test?

Wanted. The Stones.Application.Rules.Characters/Taken PBs.Main Community.OOC Community In the year 1994, three teenagers were on vacation with their families, and crossed upon a cave. At first, it didn’t seem out of the ordinary, until they took their flashlights and walked in. The walls were covered with different colored stones, green, blue, red, orange, etc. Ecstatic about the discovery, they decided to take some as souvenirs and tell everyone about it. Little did they know that those stones would change their lives forever. Those weren’t your ordinary stones. They gave people abilities to manipulate different phases of nature.
Anyone who held a specific stone would be able to control a specific part of nature. Fun, right? Well, no. Once you get that stone, you cannot lose it. Because once you have the stone, you become one with it. If you are away from your stone for a long period of time, you die. Why not destroy it after the person dies? Well, once you touch the stone, it is in your blood. When you die, it must be passed on to one person of your family blood or else everyone in your family chain will die. Many people heard about these stones, and its abilities, but they did not bother to think about that negative side and went to the cave.
People who couldn’t afford to travel and go to the cave began to steel the stones from others, thus people started to die from being away from their stone for too long. When the government found out about those stones and its abilities, they ordered for all stones to be destroyed. Meaning anyone who had a stone destroyed died too. Even though the government thought they destroyed all the stones, there were some people that still had it in their possession. Most keep it secret, in fear that the government would destroy it.
It is the year 2008, and people still have a stone in their possession.

Overview
What if you heard the news? Not headlined – not like it should have been – but buried in the paper, or reported on a blog. The news of the discovery of over a hundred people, people just like you, people who had been lied to, trick, tortured and abused. People who had given their lives over to a 'social experiment' that had gone horribly wrong.
What if you had been told that those experiments had been ended and the participants were in the process of being rehabilitated? What if you were told that you could help? That you were needed? Whatever your skills sets – barman, workman, doctor, plumber. Normal, ordinary people were needed to help these people rehabilitate into society.
What if you weren't told about the catch – that the experiments weren't over yet. That by volunteering to help, you'd end up just like those very people you were trying to save?
Would you go?

Rumors say that the King's Realm is now beautiful and lush, despite what most want to believe. The order of Soul Society has stayed strangely intact for the moment, but everyone is constantly on edge for the moment it tips over. The next two years were quiet as Aizen established himself, the flow of the afterlife turned back to normal. Tousen Kaname became the elected representative of the realm to Las Noches, and Ichimaru Gin to Seireitei, while the Gotei 13 try to make up for their losses, figuring out where to fill in the gaps and pick a new Commander General.
But the fear in everyone's mind is not of the terrible future that awaits them...
...it's wondering if perhaps Aizen's control will not be as terrible as they imagined. |

Checkmate is an RPG heavily based off of the Anime/Manga series Bleach (with a focus mainly on the manga). Canonly, it follows the series up to Chapter 329, whereafter the RP takes an AU-twist - Aizen has come out on top. Some characters were lost in the final battle, others barely made it out, few were spared specifically, but to what end? All canon characters are welcome, and at this time we are not accepting OCs. Even though Aizen and his crew are in charge of the afterlife, we strongly encourage survivors to challenge them. Not everyone would sit around and accept that fate.
APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN RESERVATIONS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN
The RPG will open October 22nd, 2008. |
