This week was becoming increasingly unusual on more than one front. Kyu-Sik had nearly called in again on the 25th after waking up in not the best circumstances. Something was different. Something had changed. It was hard to find clarity in exactly what that something was, but there were some very clear signs to him that something weird was happening. He awoke around six that morning, took a shower, and then noticed the rune on his shoulder while brushing his teeth. He had paused for at least a good minute and stared until the clanking of his toothbrush into the sink let him know it had fallen from his mouth. Then he proceeded to blink and rub his eyes, hoping that this was one of those things that would just vanish like the weird runes he had gotten used to seeing brief glances of. And there it stayed.
To be honest, he was in a weird state of shock from it more than anything. It didn't feel wrong for it to be there so much as he had no idea when it happened or how he would explain it to anyone who would happen to see it, because he wasn't so sure how it suddenly came to be either. Though he had planned to wear a white shirt that day, he settled on a mid-blue instead just to avoid anything showing through. Then he tried to clear it from his mind while at work, only to find those runes he had been seeing in brief flashes were there to stay as well. Only when he was writing at least, which actually struck him as something that may have been useful to notice.
To say the least, Kyu-Sik was feeling a little overwhelmed by the sudden development. He was doing a good job at not showing it, just like always, but his boss still occasionally leaned over to ask him if he was alright. He worked a few extra hours that day despite everything, and then even came in on the 26th to finish his catch up work. He hadn't allowed himself the time to just sit and try to piece together what was happening.
Adding to the unusual matters, after all this the young man found himself out of his own home for dinner again. It had been an exhausting month and with so much to do normally the very last thing on his agenda would be to visit anyone. He had met a lot of interesting people throughout May, a few he didn't particularly mind knowing for the time being. One of those people was Donovan. He was an odd character who Kyu-Sik still wasn't entirely sure of after so many of their encounters seemed to be muddled with sour notes. However, even those sour notes didn't really deter him. He had shared a lot with him and there was something still soothing about the other man. If nothing else, he needed a soothing voice at the moment. So, after a few emails, Kyu-Sik agreed to meet at his apartment for dinner.
He hadn't been paying attention to the time and had to head straight to Donovan's apartment after finishing work. Which wasn't bad, he just imagined he probably looked tired. Not that he didn't immediately question how much he actually cared about looking tired. He was already knocking at the door when he started wondering again if yet another attempt at being social was a bad idea, but it was too late to change his mind at that point. Kyu-Sik waited for the door to be answered.
