At least Kyu-Sik didn't seem put off by the discussion. Donovan wasn't the violent type but his curiosities certainly tended to wander him into territories others quickly got uncomfortable with. "I don't think I ever would have been mistaken as somebody privileged enough to have their necks targeted for chopping. I probably would have starved in the streets well before any of it began," he decided cheerfully while pulling the chicken out of the oven. The smell stirred his own hunger, reminding Donovan that he hadn't eaten much yet that day after having slept well past lunch time.
Checking that the chicken was cooked all the way through and not spotting any tinge of pink inside, he served the meat atop the rice, making sure to put the bigger piece on Kyu-Sik's plate. It'd be hypocritical of him to consider the other boy too skinny, but he was the guest. "But it's not fair to evade hypothetical questions, is it?" he pondered while setting the table, placing silverware next to the readied dishes.
"Going out first could be a bit boring, though. Why miss all of the show? Let the anticipation build a bit. Nah, I'd let the more eager go ahead and maybe take mine somewhere in the middle." That seemed a fair compromise, and Donovan liked some sense of balance in his reasoning.
