The Compass, for [info]lilyseyes
Title: The Compass
Artist: [info]umbrus
Giftee: [info]lilyseyes
Rating: R and does fluffiness count?
Pairing: Snarry
Warnings: (please continue to warn for DH spoilers) nudity
Disclaimer: Do you see Severus chasing Harry or vice versa? Well, ok maybe we do, sometimes, but I still don't own Harry Potter.
Summary: Severus giving Harry his Christmas present.
Artist Notes: I know you asked for NC-17 but this was as close as I got. I think it works well for what you wanted as the scenario (Severus wants the perfect gift for Harry, one that will express what he can't verbalize and bonus if Severus thinks Harry might be slipping away from him). I tried to work in the slipping away part though I don't know if it actually came across. I hope you like it!

Oh. Beautiful.

A compass like that would be about the best present ever, and it's oh, so sweet.

Oh! That is breathtaking! I think Severus' insecurity and unspoken tenderness shine right through! Very, very well done! Love the multiple layers of the piece. The compass, the hands, the erotic snapshot of tender sex. This piece really speaks.

I wish I was more educated about art to give a more coherent comment from a sound knowledge-base. I love the intense way they are looking at each other, the way the hands are cupping each other's as they hold the compass between them. So many subtle emotions visible in this piece, just like Severus' emotions really would be.

Bravo!

??? I'm confused.

Where is the compass pointing? I'm puzzled. I keep looking at the compass trying to understand but I kept being distracted by the tender moment of snarry behind the compass. How am I suppose to concentrate on getting the meaning?

Hmm?? ?? To keep dissecting the meaning or to keep looking at the *snapshot*... tis' a hard decision!

Thanks!

*adores* Wonderful! *tries half heartedly to find something to critique* Can't find anything! Except that the curve of Harry's back is a bit undefined, but eh. I think I may just be too used to drawing him with more curves than a boy ought to have. :P xD;

I love the expressions, and the almost gentle intimacy between them, and the over-all composition (the layers! HIAJDLA! The layers! *loves on them and mumbles about figuring out how to get that effect*), and the compass...! *sighs dreamily* That is the ultimate romantic gift; it says "You are wanted, you are needed, I will never turn you away, so please don't ever leave me" even better than an engagement ring. *badly wants to write a fic to accompany it* But it's so goooood without all the words~~ DILEMMA!

This is definately one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have EVER seen. (The artist in me wonders if I may inquire as to what medium(s) you used for this?)

*sticks this entry in her memories*
