Wow. Just wow. Tense, exciting, I couldn't put this down once I started. Such a rich tale (not that I would expect anything less than that from you) and an unusual premise. Gives a whole new meaning to 'be careful what you wish for'.

So very well done, my dear... even if you are, ahem, on that *other* team. *G*

Most potent storyteller master.... that was a very amazing story ever! Each aspect were so well described that I could even visualise it in my mind's eye. Wow! Forgiveness indeed. That last act was the most purest of its form. *sniffs* *sobs* Thank you for sharing!

oh wow! what a plot! you had me hanging on your words there.. thinking: please, don't use the well, no, don't put the mask on!
it reminds me of reading HP and the OotP, when I was gnawing my nails while thinking: use the bloody mirrors!!
oh, and thanky for the hot mansecks!!!

Woah, that was powerful. Not sure I really liked Harry in this, as he does some pretty stupid and thoughtless stuff (using the mask like that was just wrong). But overall a great and thought provoking story - be very careful what you wish for.....it might come true. Booffra

Amazing fic! I love Harry just going from bad to worse, all with the best intentions. Fantastic story for the Well, Hjorulfsson, Ásmundr and his nine. The interaction with Lily, James, and Severus were great. The Mask of Lust and Severus's payback were hot, wicked, and frightening in a way. You handled that really well. I was absolutely enthralled from the start. Brilliant work.

This story really surprised me. Not in quality, obviously it would be of the highest quality, but in content. I can't remember a single other Harry Potter/Norse mix, but you made it seem completely natural and perfect. The only thing that seemed a bit off to me was how quickly James and Lily were willing to give up their lives and family for the sake of Severus and Harry; not that I don't think they would be willing to do so, but that the pacing of it seemed a bit off. Wonderful story.

Oh WOW!
I'm speechless. What a great story. It's clear a lot of research went into this with all the references to Norse mythology and legend.
And the wishes! Trust Harry to be altruistic and Draco to be such a prat, lol. I loved the little details, especially how it played out when Harry's parents ended up alive. It wasn't such a perfect world after all... Interesting how we never think of such things.
The sex was... rough, but given how stupid Harry was I can't say I blame Snape. Much.
Happily my worry that it would be a bit too dark for me was unfounded. It almost was the excellent storyline definitely made it a fascinating reading.
Lovely job, hon!

Yay TEAM!

Wow, that was fascinating. Such an interesting concept, I don't think I've seen the like before. I loved how it played on canon but told a story in its own right. I loved the Norse mythology with which I am not familiar. You seem to have really done your research.

There were a lot of very sad, moving bits--the emotion between Harry and Snape was tangible. The D/s scene was mmmm... very hot. I liked that a lot. :D

I really enjoyed this, babe, thanks so much for writing it. You always put your all into your fics, and it really shows.

Like the dub con stuff, also

It might be my ignorance showing, but this is the second story you've done that I've read that has used northern European magic and seemed to draw on primal stuff. It makes me think of Neil Gaiman, a little, but it doesn't feel derivative. Your opening here has tremendous energy.

Impressive! Thrilling. Enthralling. And damned scary!

Here, then, he thought. Here is where I begin to avenge you, my many-times-great grandfather. Here is where I demand the weregild for the blood spilt by Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor. Ásmundr, Svartætheling of the Northern Blood, Dark Lord from whom I am descended, they shall pay your blood-price—with interest.

Yikes! Hrafn Hjorulfsson wasn’t your usual run-of-the-mill villain. He wanted some serious payback and for a while there I was shaking in my boots, fearing that he might have won. You provided a great backstory on him, really fleshing him out and making him a fearsome foe. However I was disappointed he wasn’t brought to justice at the end, instead he just sort of disappeared after setting everything up.

Ásmundr, the Well of Souls, the Niðstang, and all of the Norse mythology were fascinating and very well written.

"He was a Dark Lord, every bit as lethal and destructive as Voldemort," Snape answered. "He was Viking, and a contemporary of the Hogwarts Founders. Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor put paid to him and to his army of Inferi. This archaeologist that told both Harry and Draco of the Well is his descendant. Knowing the Vikings, it is likely that Hrafn Hjorulfsson seeks to avenge Ásmundr, possibly even to return him to some facsimile of life. A descendant of a Norseman who has been killed will often seek vengeance. The more I think on this, the more this seems to be the motivation for the stirring of such discord."

Snape! Snape da man! I’m glad someone was wise to what Hjorulfsson was trying to accomplish.

Snape now stood, straddling him, hurling off curse after hex.
Snape launched off another barrage of nasty enchantments.
Draco and Snape were trading spell for spell now, and the battle was a horrible one.
Snape barely spoke. There were few spells that he could not cast silently.
It was all he had time to say as he continued the terrible duel with the thing that had possession of Draco's body.

The battle scene at the end totally pwned me! I absolutely loved reading it. Snape! Snape! Snape! He totally rocked in the final fight! Snape in action, casting spell after spell, taking down Possessed!Draco was fan-freakin’-tastic! The whole showdown sequence was the highlight of the story for me. It was wonderfully written, full of great action-packed descriptions of the heated confrontation between the good guys and the bad guys.

Thanks for an exciting and riveting story! Great work! Kudos!

An interesting, compelling story. You really captured Harry and Severus well. I'm not surprised Harry wished on the well--he has always had such a hard time containing his curiosity especially when bored. Severus was so much more dignified once he was back from death, although he was still commanding.

So nice to see James and Lily make the choice to die for their son's happiness instead of having it taken away from them. They've really grown up in your story. Well done!

Absolutely amazing story. I was drawn in from the first paragraph. Wonderful stuff from ancient Norse mythology, the artefacts and the creation of characters. Somehow it left me wanting some serious revenge to be visited upon Hjorulfsson.

Nicely done, teammate!

I haven't finished reading yet, but I just had to come say that I got so excited over the Norse mythology and how well it works in the story. When they uncovered the runestone and saw the carving of the mare's head, I was like "Ack! Early Norse for 'Don't go into the cellar!' Get out there, run!" but no.... they always go into the cellar. Great stuff so far!

If only I could vote! Seriously...this was so cool - and so original! (although...I have to admit that Snape's interactions with the two youngest kids might actually have been my favorite part. For some reason, Snape-ish kidfic (especially with Harry's children) pleases me greatly *g*). Well done, hon!

Whew! Excellent read! Portrait!Snape is made of WIN! He's just as good when he's alive, too, but there's something about him being trapped in the frame and shooing Potter off that just tickled me. Draco's wishes!!! That was too much fun. He's so *perfectly* selfish here. And Viking!Draco? *sporfle* Marvelous. As horrified as Draco was by the whole ordeal, I somehow imagine him being extra-appalled as he watched his effete little self turn into a Viking warlord. The sex scenes were great (yay Bottom!Snape) and I've never read 'docking' before, but that was way hot!

The thing I loved best of all though was how well you used the Norse mythology. Using the Nithstang (sorry, no special keys on my laptop) was brilliant, and the whole Dark Lord theme works so well with the mythology. I think I liked this version better than Voldemort. Great story!

I don't think I've ever read anything quite like that. The Norse myths you wove in were fascinating -- not to mention the narcissism of Draco's multiple wishes. Poor Harry.

Great job!

Wow, fascinating plot. What an unusual story (I mean that in a good way!). I know next to nothing about Norse mythology but it was probably what I loved most about this fic. And the suspense! And all the dark, creepy elements. Lucius as Minister filled me with evil glee. I'm glad you didn't kill him off in the end. *g* Draco's wishes - ha, so totally Draco. (His wish about his hair amused me greatly!) And Harry giving in to temptation and making that first wish and then it was just a slippery slope, of course. Oh, Harry. I couldn't wait to see how all this would be resolved. Which brings me to - great battle at the end! And wow, you even found a way for Snape and James to finally make peace.

I loved Harry's kids. Especially Snape's relationship with them. The moment when Snape and Albus Severus first met made me go awwww.

Damn you for making me read bottom!Snape. Heh. But the next sex scene more than made up for it. ;-)

Gripping story!

PS. Were you inspired by ASOIAF? I haven't read those books but your title reminded me of them and I'm just curious. :-)

This is amazing, sweetheart. I love the characters, the plot is rich, and the details are fabulous. The story really hooked me in from the start. I really liked the OCs at the start, and I love how you introduced Severus into the story, how you resurrected him, and how you kept him.

I also really like the 'stopped just short of rape' line for their activities with the mask. It shits me that a lot of authors won't admit things like that, and I have a lot of respect for you that you'll do that.

The snake spine charm was perfect. Autofellatio is hot.

I really, really enjoyed reading this. :)

Whoa, Penny, this is one of the absolutely most original stories I've read! I love the universe you've created -- you had me at the very beginning with Hrafn. Then to see Harry rushing into things and giving into his curiosity like he always does, only to need Snape to save the day yet again... I laughed and scowled and yelled at Harry the monitor throughout the story *g*

I loved that little moment when Harry saw Snape and Lily speaking quietly to each other. You gave me the resolution I've always wanted to see in canon, and I thank you so much for that (even if it was only possible because of Harry's stupid wish-first-think-later actions, heh).

The ending both filled me with adrenaline and sadness, but also a little hope that Snape and Harry are heading toward the right direction. Thank you for a great read!
