It might be my ignorance showing, but this is the second story you've done that I've read that has used northern European magic and seemed to draw on primal stuff. It makes me think of Neil Gaiman, a little, but it doesn't feel derivative. Your opening here has tremendous energy.

How much do I love you for putting mine and Neil Gaiman's name in the same sentence?! Hrm, are you perhaps thinking of the Salazar/Godric fic I wrote for Daily Deviant? Oh, and I'm really flattered that the story's opening was engaging for you. A weak opening is the kiss of death, even for a fic with a strong middle and ending. THANK YOU!!!
