I... wow, seriously wow.

I did something I often do and initially flicked past the notes and half the summary and got a few paragraphs in before I read them. When I saw the words gothic romance I was a bit dubious, since it's not much my thing. Maybe I should read some more, because this had me hook, line and sinker. It really blew me away.

I loved all the details about the clothing, and Severus' cracked water basin, and the boots by the back door and the ghost. The poor ghost. The slow progression of the romance, Severus' self-denial of what he wants for the good of Harry. A wonderful mixture of a simple face to everything, and yet a wonderfully complex plot which draws you in.

Beautiful, beautiful story. Just what I needed. :D

Thank you! Maybe I should have said a "slashy Gothic romance", in case people thought it was het, LOL!

take care,
Annette

I just love it! The suspense was great and the heart breaking story of Harry, sometimes I was near tears as he talked about the devil. Sometimes it reminded me of Gothica where Penelope Cruz said that the devil visits her at night. *shudders* Wonderfully made!

Cannot believe I haven't posted a review of this fic yet! Well, anytime I see the name Eriador I know I'm in for a super treat and this was no exception. I loved the gothic flavor or it - just like the books I read as a teenager... I should have been prepared, but the ending was fantastic and sent chills all over me. Great job from one of my favorite authors! CB

Good lords, woman! Your epilogue gave me the chills! AW! With that aside, I would like to say how much I like your AR side of the story, very unique! Love it! Thank you!

Wow! It had a definite "Wuthering Heights" feel to it at the start, and I kept expecting (for the first half, at least) that it would end with a twist that Harry was dead and somehow they were lovers in the past and he was saving Severus, or something along those lines. But the character death was a lovely twist! The build up to finding out why Harry had been imprisoned was very well written in terms of keeping the suspence. Then the happy ending we had the other side of that was very lovingly done, and so nice to read. As always your pacing was spot on. Highly enjoyable read, thanks!

Do you know I have Wuthering Heights sitting on my bookshelf, but I've never actually read it, LOL? Thank you :)

I liked your story, just the end was not very clear for me, ie. when exactly Neville died. Are they the same age? Did he die after the left?
(and it was fun reading this line from you, knowing you so much dislike bottomSnape: '"You want to top?" Severus asked with a grin, widening his legs.')

Neville died a couple of years before Severus arrived at Dursley Hall. Neville had been helping Harry when he was alive, and then continued to help him as a ghost (or something like that, LOL!)

Thank you :)

Annette

What a lovely AR! I liked the set-up of the tale even before Harry came properly into it, even before we got near the smut or the happy ending. The twist at the end was particularly fun, and I have a warm spot for your Filch, I have to admit.
