Bill Skarsgard or someone else who fits the historical genre well as either
A) a flirtatious soldier who met my medic during his recovery from a blitz, and after he is recovered, finds said medic and makes good on his promise to "Take him out dancing as repayment for helping him through his darkest time"...bonus if said soldier has a limp or something/was discharged honorably.
B) an alternative historical line where homosexuality isn't as scandalous as it usually is, and the relationship between two men
