Long shot, but:
My boy: from Europe, came on a tourist visa, got a gig as a musician and stayed in the States, overstaying his visa and is hiding under some false paperwork to stay here as he discovered the joys of being able to be openly queer for the first time in his life. Has an injury or illness that he's hiding and is an all-around quirky guy, into yoga, tarot, and all that New Age jazz. In his mid-20s, very pretty. Possibly Russian, or from another country that outlaws homosexuality.
Your man: older, established, appears conservative but that's a facade. Maybe experimenting with a gay relationship for the first time. Falls hard for this pretty boy after hearing him play, music being the way to your man's heart, and decides he'll move heaven and earth to have my boy. Handsome but has had his heart broken a few times, but this time, he's swept off his feet. Maybe he's in a profession where being openly gay will hurt his career.
Together: they fall utterly in love, only to run into problems -- the injury/illness is starting to have serious complications, and immigration is threatening to send my boy back to the country where his orientation can get him put in prison at best or see him killed at worst. Your man goes into protective mode, and a greencard gay marriage happens. Can that marriage endure the strain of all these problems? Does your man have second thoughts?
Willing to go for a GPSL for a poly relationship. Loosely based off of a Viggo Mortensen/Orlando Bloom fic that turned into a psl a good decade ago. (Karl Urban entered as the poly third later on.) I really want to write a romance that is tested by factors that seem overwhelming, but aren't world-ending drama, and has elements of hurt-comfort in it. The greencard gay marriage of convenience is something I love, and I'd want to go for a long-term writing project with this. Threads are good, GDocs preferred, email also okay. Who wants a quirky gay romance novel with ICE and healthcare drama?
