Dæmons Meme (a la Shadowlands)


For those unfamiliar with Philip Pullman's fantasy trilogy (or the many fanfic that use it as an AU trope), a dæmon is:

"...the external physical manifestation of a person's 'inner-self' that takes the form of an animal. Dæmons have human intelligence, are capable of human speech—regardless of the form they take—and usually behave as though they are independent of their humans. Pre-pubescent children's dæmons can change form voluntarily, almost instantaneously, to become any creature, real or imaginary. During their adolescence a person's dæmon undergoes "settling", an event in which that person's dæmon permanently and involuntarily assumes the form of the animal which the person most resembles in character. Dæmons are usually of the opposite sex to their human, though same-sex dæmons do exist."

Linny here, with Peter's pack member, Robert Kidsman! Robert was roped into this business of treason due to his gambling debt, and now has reluctantly agreed to help Peter out to save his neck. He's a fairly new wolf, and as such, doesn't know a great deal about Wolfing, and is trying desperately to keep his normal human life (including his normal human fiancee). *pats*

Expect him to be surly, and to be utterly incapable of turning down a cardgame.

Hello. This is Jen, who has lost her battle of wills with a dragon. There's really no winning those.

(Liang invites everyone to remember this.)

Lóng Liang is a red dragon from a coastal village in China, who has spent roughly 600 years traveling the world and collecting books. She has a tidy hoard of them, enough additional volumes to stock a bookshop, and a small hand in the import and export of such things. As such, Chinese-British relations and trade are something she knows very well, and the Opium Wars are still very much current events in her mind.

Describing her as an eccentric great-aunt might not be too far off the mark; Liang does what she wants to do (wears what she wants to, travels the way she wants to, etc.) and is largely unconcerned with how anyone else might view it. Living in a nation that considers itself vastly superior to the East is unlikely to change this; she isn't interested in politics, only in getting her way when it suits her. She's absent-minded, enthusiastic, outgoing, and her hearing can be generously considered 'selective'.

She also has a habit of locking up persons who might conceivably be princesses. More on that in her bio here.

Liang has just come to London, and has decided she might keep it now that she's here. Other persons with different opinions are welcome to discuss this with her. She does love contract agreements.

The Last Jedi comes out a week from tonight. I still want to write stuff but I'm going to be slow the next two weekends between finishing a costume, rebel legion troops, and a company christmas party, and oh yeah the movie itself.

Hey guys! So, it came to my attention that I dropped the ball on one scene - totally missed it, forgot about it, I don't even know what happened other than to blame it on holidays or something.

MARRIAGES AND DIVORCES

How to play:

Everyone plays the game in-character, but what happens in the OOC community stays in the OOC community!

1. A character suggests a match for prospective matrimony.
2. The characters so named list their positive qualities and character defects for consideration. They also individually request marriage or not as the verdict.
3. Everyone else acts as judges in the case, determining the suitability of the partnership. They can react with comments and vote on whether the pair should be "married" or not.
4. Discussion ahoy!

Example:

1. Bertie thinks Cassius and Arabella should be married, because they make a very handsome couple.
2a. Cassius makes a case for himself not at all motivated by Arabella's fae blood and Una's interest in her *cough*, and requests marriage.
2b. Arabella has far too much alchemical work to do to consider marriage and says so, with emphasis on her character flaws and shortcomings.
3. The floor is open for judging and opinions.

For the purposes of this game, same-gender and polyamorous marriages are permissible.

First off, this is entirely on me, but the final Ripper murder (Nov 9th) totally passed by without me remembering! Expect a Shade this week about it.

This one didn't cause the same magical hullabaloo (for reasons that'll become apparent later). (Can you tell it's the craziest time of my semester? Because it is!)

We've got all sorts of lovely irons in the fire plot-wise, and can continue to tackle them in December -- including digging deeper into some mysteries about who was behind the Ripper murders, and a rearing of a few different threats to our resident Vamps (*pats Cassius*) that tie in a bunch of other folks too.

We'll have a Plot Reconvening after the holiday -- I know Thanksgiving can be full of family, guests, and randomness, and it's no exception for me! Have a good turkey/tofurkey filled week, y'all! (For any non-Yanks, feel free to sit back and laugh as we stuff ourselves silly.)

And be prepared for the Massive OOC Thread of Christmas Gifting -- those Victorians, they Christmassed like no other!

I am the trash friend, that doesn't get invited places, and with good reason.

For the last seven nine weeks I've been on placement in a primary school. Between that, my part time job, and worries about what I'm going to do for money once my study allowance ends (need to apply for unemployment until I can get full time hours at my job) my brain has basically been a nightmarescape of deadlines, assessments, and stress. Oh, and I poured water over my laptop, so I'm using a far smaller, far less powerful machine for the time being.

I have been trash.

I'm done with placement now, though they've asked me to come back on a volunteer basis. What this means is that I'm still likely to be BUSY, but not the insane, stand in the corner and cry the exhausted tears of the exhausted busy that I have been.

I'm looking to get Chiara and Eleri back in the swing of things as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

I’m not sure how many of you remember this lovely, awkward chap but for the purpose of revitalization please allow me to recap;

This is Sterling Darcy, the last of his family. He’s a mortician, owns and operates Darcy Funeral Home in the area and probably has a lot of dealings with the messier sides of the goings on in the city. His house is haunted (if you recall Ms. Zipporah assisted in getting rid of a ghost a while back). For the purpose of the game I’m going to say Sterling had business out of town that’s kept him away. The caretaker, his housekeeper, would’ve been gone as well. The place would’ve looked almost abandoned but now that they’re back it would look much more lively (as a funeral home can look).

So please give me things!! If anyone needs information on death, facts on anything he’s seen, experiences with seeing the paranormal side of things, or even just to make him feel awkward I’m down!!

Hello my lovely lovelies. :D

I’ve been a very terrible player in this community. Honestly, I have a hard time keeping up with ALL the things going on with everyone xD so rather than try to decipher through it I just sort of let it all swim past.

BUT NO LONGER.

I want to be more active and involved (and Caspian needs more trouble things to do) so please, if anyone is interested in my Mer for things let me know. I’m happy to go over any plot involvement (i might need the Cliff’s Notes considering there is a lot going on that I’m not involved in) with anyone that has things they need.

In short, get out your wet noodles, do your worst, and lets do things.

Presently Cas is getting to better know Bertie, though there is potential for more with others. He’s involved in something that i’m Working on (slowly because i’m Awful) with Keira but otherwise he’s free for adventures, troublemaking, entertaining, or worshipping.

I want to apologize for being so slow the last couple days. I've had drama going on that's sucked up all my time but it seems (crosses fingers) to be over for now. This weekend will be shot as I have a Wedding to attend out of town on Saturday and have to go in to work all day Sunday. After that I should be back on a somewhat regular schedule.

Hello lovelies! I have managed to contract a case of food poisoning and I'm recovering from it but I'm far behind on all things game-related, including the ball. Both Lou and Una are present, and now have appeared in the dance thread.

It would make my life much easier if people would poke their threads instead of me chasing through the dances to find everyone. I will do that later but anyone who gets a chance. please give me a hand. Me and my sad self that's hoping to eat a full meal today would really appreciate it.
