Lee Garbett's version of Steph's costume
Just so's everyone can see it. This is the costume we'll be seeing in the interiors and (IMO) it looks a lot less like stripey pajamas and is pretty neat. Also, various comments from Garbett about the costume:

Lee's design:

and:

I really like the darker purple and the stripes look more like stretchy...armor...cool stuff...here. I'm also really fond of the boots and the light yellow detail that complements Steph's hair. I also like the riff on the Spoiler legband and it looks a lot less bulky in this design. Apparently those are NOT pouches, according to Garbett:

The leg-strap was requested by DC as a nod to the old SPOILER costume. In fact I've kept it almost identical to the old one but now in Batgirl yellow but more techy than pouches. The same with her Belt. Other artists down the line may draw pouches but I'm going for more old skool 'containers'. Almost like the Batman TV show, I guess.

My only real problem is with the belt. It's so low slung it looks like it would interfere with Steph's kicking and whatnot, and I have no idea what that silver thing on the side is (a staff?) but it looks to make the whole deal even more restrictive.

Garbett has some words on that too, though:

The lower slung belt was inspired by Han Solo and it won't ever be a problem with her
kicking etc etc because I will make sure I draw it not being a problem with her kicking. As it's not real we can have some artistic license and add some cool elements.

So I guess I can live with that. Low slung belts do look cool, I'll admit it.

Overall, I like it. It's really fun looking and therefore very "Steph". I really like that elements of her Spoiler costume were incorporated, that's what they should have done with her Robin costume. When it was described as "sexy" by Miller at the con, I was a little worried the costume would turn out all gratuitous and impractical, but also pretty convinced that Garbett wasn't that kind of artist and I was proven right, thank the comic book gods.

Here's another comment Garbett's made that might be of interest, regarding the color scheme:

I'm not sure on the color scheme Phil's used but yeah, my original design is two tone purple to ref Spoiler's old look
.

You can see all these nice tidbits on his blog. It's pretty neat, and Garbett seems to be a great guy, so I encourage you to check it out and give your input!

I LOVE IT! It's still dark and cool! :D a nice combination between spoiler's and Batgirls. :D tis badass! I can see myself wearing this. I don't mind the belt so much really. Truly, I"m thrilled it's a more streamlined version of Cass's (which was the only thing that bugged me about her costume). I had to wear a belt like that this weekend, and doesn't slip off, just tend to ride up sometimes, but otherwise not a hindrance. But yay! I'm so happy! :3 *is more happy she's not cheesecakey than anything else*

And now to get rid of one of the blonde girl sidekicks, or else DC will be blonde-haven and that's just downright creepy. 9_9 (maybe we can get rid of Cassie or have her go back to the black wig...not that it changes that DC is sorely lacking in diversity...*sighs*)

I know! It's like the Stepford Teenaged Vigilantes up in this place . . .

I gotta wonder if DC noticed that was happening... Ugh, what do you call that type of clueless-ness? White privilege?

First, it was Supergirl, then it was Wonder Girl, then it was Speedy (heck even Arrowette...), and now Batgirl is blonde? (yeesh, should we include Arisia in that too? She's alien orange skin but she's still blonde!) I suppose it's a good thing Lorena's hispanic...(But ugh...she's such a stereotype right now that I don't even want to see her...lol)

She should dye her hair! Like Canary, but opposite.

I approve, but what would be a reasonable excuse for her to do that? XD; (had a blonde friend who got black hair and people thought she was going emo or something...totally not true.)

She wants to fit in with Diana and Donna? I just figure, if she's willing to wear a wig, she'd be willing to dye her hair.

But she's CHANGED now! *eyetwitch* it just doesn't work with her character unless there's a super practical reason to do it. O_o; like she goes undercover or something? *nope not buying it...* ah man...

Maybe...naw nevermind. *sighs*

Alternatively, it occurs to me that if Steph were to dye her hair black, she would then fit in amongst her fellow former Robins. And then Bruce will try to adopt her and it'll get all awkward when she reminds him that her parents aren't dead.

I say we gradually darken Mia's hair to strawberry blonde. She's got a low enough profile that they could pull it off, probably.

There should at least be a tonal difference between all of the blondes. I think DC needs a resident hairstylist to expain these things.

Hm...true. And it wouldn't look too bad with her costume, would it? (it would help make the Green Arrow family less blonde, that's for sure. XD)

If she dyed her hair red- and hair dye is, after all, a tradition round those parts- she could match it exactly. Red catsuit, yellow cloak-thingy, red hair on top of that. Plus then she'd be a redheaded Speedy, and that's really the proper order of things.

It would be pretty easy to say that Mia's been bleaching all along, wouldn't it? Have we ever seen flashbacks or baby pictures for her that would prove otherwise?
