Blue Beetle #16: WITNESS the MONSTER within BLUE BEETLE!
so i was checking the tags for Blue Beetle / Jaime Reyes and apparently the issue where we find his "DARKEST FANTASIES of ULTIMATE POWER" hasn't been posted yet, which is a crying shame.
it's a one-shot issue, and i'm posting just the last couple of pages, but you won't be spoiled for anything massive for the series.
so, preliminary exposition, since the scans are kicking things off mid-issue:
Eclipso, evil magic person, needs a new "pure" host so she kidnaps a baby in el paso, heads to consecrated ground which is a church somewhere in nowheresville. also, if you keep track of continuity and stuff, Eclipso's current host is Jean Loring, Sue Dibny's murderer from that CLASSIC WORK OF GENIUS, Identity Crisis. Sarcasm aside, this is a plot point.
Traci 13, magic wielding good gal, is trying to stop Eclipso so she recruits Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) and Jaime's friend Paco to help. (well, more like Paco's there when she appears and Paco has sweet convertible, so he gets to be designated driver). Jaime and Traci have some banter, totally make eyes at each other and Paco sort-of plays wingman.
so now Eclipso's at the church, about to start, Blue Beetle busts in to distract Eclipso while Traci 13 and Paco go for the rescue...
the solution to his banter woes is obviously a crossover with Marvel Adventures Spider-Man. Or Deadpool (the Joe Kelley version, for extra homicidal fun.)
ONOEZ! THE MONSTER WITHIN BLUE BEETLE IS...
skip two pages where Paco rescues Baby, Eclipso makes threats, and Jaime bleeds on the floor. Apparently the blood of a hero has some serious mojo on consecrated ground, which gives Traci 13 a boost of power (hence glowing staff)...so then Eclipso asks Traci 13 what her damage is and why she's all up in Eclipso's business, to which Traci answers:
