Have some October solicitations It's that time of the month.
IGN has Blackest Night previews.
Newsarama has previews for the Superfamily.
BLACKEST NIGHT #4 Written by Geoff Johns Art and cover by Ivan Reis & Oclair Albert Variant cover by Ethan Van Sciver Sketch variant cover by Ivan Reis
Summer's hottest event explodes in this critical issue!
Hold on to your power rings, because the secrets behind the Blackest Night finally stand revealed! While Earth is evacuated, Hal Jordan embarks on a brave journey to the darkest depths to uncover the truth behind the Black Lanterns! You won't believe what he uncovers!
Continuing the best-selling epic from superstars Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis!

They're evacuating the Earth? But that's where I keep all my stuff!
Also, go go Rainbow Force!
SUPERMAN/BATMAN #65 Written by Peter Johnson & Matt Cherniss Art by Rafael Albuquerque Cover by Dustin Nguyen What scares Batman and Superman? Even worse, what scares their greatest foes, The Joker and Lex Luthor? Horror comes alive in this very special Halloween tale from Peter Johnson (SUPERNATURAL) and Matt Cherniss (Sub-Mariner)!

(No, this isn't a Blackest Night tie-in. It just looks this way.)
Also, Joker is obviously scared by Lex's relationship talk. Not sure what scares Lex.

...so Dick's parents were buried wearing their capes? Huh.

People appear to be returning as Black Lanterns wearing the clothing they died in, not necessarily what they were buried in.
Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks.
Some of them get black costumes, though.
Earth gets evacuated ????? Oh c'mon..............
Didn't they do that in Final Crisis as well? I can only imagine this is the new JLA protocol for world-destroying threats: shrink and freeze everyone!
It's probably pretty annoying when it happens every few weeks.
Well, it seems a better plan than duck-and-cover...

"Mom, can I go outside?" "No dear, you know we need to get freeze-packed until the latest Crisis is finished" "Aw, golly mom, didn't we just finish one?" "Hush now Grant, and into your cube."
"You won't believe what he uncovers!"
Megazords?
Go, go Power Rangers Lanterns.
That Blackest Night cover should be on a shirt YESTERDAY
Motto. I'd totally wear it to pride fests too.

Kirk is rage, Ilia is fear, and Spock is both hope and willpower?

Kirk is both rage AND love.
Which is really quite fitting.
And Spock as both hope and willpower is pretty apt as well.
Ilia ... well, in canon, she'd be "love," too, but in practice, she was basically "fridging."
So, I guess she fits in with a Green Lantern story after all!
"Captain," Spock said. His voice was emotionless as ever as he knelt down next to the grey-green plating. Kirk stepped closer to look. The words' lettering was both surprising and unsurprising. Surprising because they were English characters, but unsurprising because what they pronounced was the place where the two of them, captain and science officer, were standing.
"Ha'rdon," Kirk read. There was something off, though, which Kirk realized was the reason for Spock calling him. The letters were recognizable, but their spacing was erratic. Spock used his sleeve to begin to polish away the grime that filled the area between "Ha" and "rdon." Kirk joined his cleaning, and in no time, the truth was revealed.
"Hal Jordon," Kirk read.
"Yes, Captain," Spock agreed, "It would appear this Ha'rdon is actually Hal Jordon." Anyone want to disagree with me know that Geoff Johns has a hard on for Hal Jordon?
I am actually excited for these comics, especially the superfamily books.
The Adventure Comics solicit has me a little worried that Tim and Kon's reunion will go sour but I really hope that they work things out in the end (also please at least have them hug at one point). I do however wonder what type of secrets Tim harbors that could upset Kon? The only things that come to mind is Tim and Cassie's kiss (this can be forgiven with Kon being dead and all) and Tim's multiple and failed attempts at cloning Kon.
It's amazing how fast a formerly kinda noble, unusual female character like the leader of the Indigo tribe can suddenly resemble a cheap, two-dollar human prostitute under the pencil of Ed Benes.
Granted, it's better than his usual efforts, and there's not an ass shot in sight, but even so, it's still not right for Green Lantern, I don't think.
She just looks kinda weird in that cover, sort of halfway between an alien and a lap dancer. Not great, though the light-effects around her are very pretty.
It's the variant cover though, the regular one from Doug Mahnke will be much nicer, because Mahnke is an awesome artist.
WHERE IS RAINBOW BRITE?!?!?!
Color belts FTW.
I know we've been over this before, but I would like to file a formal protest of Peej's book not being in the "Super Family" previews. What was the point of Geoff Johns & Co. spending almost seven years fucking with her character, securing her position as Kara Zor-El of another Earth, if she's not going to get to be part of the "Superman Family."
*grr* Even when they do something I hate right, Geoff Johns & Co. can do anything right.

The peej book is part of the expansion of the JSA brand along with Magog.
Wow. I'd *hate* to be a Titan during this Blackest Night mess. I mean, what super hero team has suffered more casualties than them? Wonder which Titan will die from this crossover...
Well, the JLI-era teams probably come pretty close to having a comparable death toll.
Yea but other than Ted and J'onn, no one has stayed dead that I can think of.
Max, Dmitri Pushkin (Rocket Red), the D'Aramis twins (Crimson Fox) from JLE, Sue, Ralph, technically Batman, Silver Sorceress, Maxima (though technically she's Extreme Justice), Scott Free and Barda. And possibly Oberon, since nobody's seen him in quite some time.
These look good. I especially love the Flying Graysons--I think I thought they were showing up in an earlier one, but it looks like Jack Drake shows up first.
Also I'm relieved to see that the smile of Tim's on the cover with Superboy doesn't mean he won't still be not trusting Kon and probably pushing him away. Don't worry, Kon, that means he loves you! |
