Marvel Adventures: Avengers 24
Or part of it, anyway. Avengers in group therapy and that bit of Storm/Giant Girl subtext. Those are the real draws, right?
And also the lines "We've learned a valuable lesson today. Trust no one." "That's not the lesson!"
There are convicts in the tower including Carl the inept henchmen, who recurs now and again. Someone hits first Cap(hence the panel with the corn) and then the others with a hate ray.
So they go do that. They find a Hydra base and curbstomp them and their Bi-beast, while shouting battle cries like "C'mon, let's get it out!" "Don't cage the rage!" and "Sorry we're early! We're trying to become self-actualized!"
But they're still being hit by the hate ray, so they start squabbling over who gets to hit what. "I called that head!" "I didn't hear you." "Are those not real ears stickin' outside your mask?"
They stuck Tony with the bill. They always stick Tony with the bill.
So turns out the one in the Quinjet is the Hatemonger. He haterays them again and sets them against each other by saying "(to Wolverine)Why you been telling everyone Giant Girl got fat?" "Don't get too uppity, G-Girl, about what you said about Storm's 'dancer' hair," "That Storm's the kind of hero I like! Except for her tendency to badmouth the USA.(guess who gets mad at that. Go on, guess.)"
Antman calls them idiots for not being able to focus on him, he's one guy, so Spidey throws him and gets him in Wolverine's eye. Spidey just says "Cry him out, shorty", and when Wolverine gets mad, Spidey does a web trick and slingshots him away.
They're gonna what? Sometime I will post from MA 36, when Tigra dreams about wishing that everyone would love her, and Storm's a prominent member of the crowd.
Turns out the Hatemonger is Karl the inept henchman, who tells them that he worked for all the big evil organizations and got to thinking. "Uh-oh." "Aim, Hydra, the Serpent Society... none of them paid so great. And benefits? Forget it. Yet there was all this, like, undying loyalty. Part of it was fear of torture, sure. But there was something else. I noticed that the main thing that unified those groups... was hate."
So he built a hate ray.
