Stay classy Marvel
I looked back a bit and I haven't seen this posted but I just joined so I might be mistaken in which case forgive the repeat.

So when I looked through Uncanny X-men on a recent bout of masochism my righteous feminism sense were all ready pinging and on the last page of Fantastic Force they went wild. (There's some alternate timelines involved before people go 'where did this come from' on me.)

Photobucket

Edited because I don't want the focus to be on my comments on comics and on the panel itself.

Ripley slowly looks up at the ceiling.

"Oh shit, fuck. fuck me."

For me, the best part of that scene was Hicks' reaction. Up until then, he was like ice even in the worst situations, especially as contrasted to the more high-strung Hudson. When even he reacted in fear, it was our cue in the audience that the shit had well and truly hit the fan.

Brilliant use of characterization.

Huge Motto. Hicks' reaction is key. Hey remember when the shuttle dropped from the ship and that combat drop made him fall asleep? That's ice.
"Express elevator to Hell! Going down!"

Hicks' reaction is perfect and I remember seeing that ceiling scene for the first time when I was 7 or 8, gave me the shivers!

This movie has perfect supporting characters. I can barely think of any another movie with such a perfect supporting cast. Hicks, Hudson, Apone, Gorman, Burke, Vasquez. God, Now I need to watch today after work!

I think this movie is still example of Sci-Fi/horror/action perfection.

"Drop your linen and start your grinning!"
