Bat/Cat: True Love

My favorite Bat/Cat moment yet...
(Scans: Pencils by Don Newton, inks by Dan Adkins; story by Gerry Conway.)

Batman shows up at Selina's place:

Next panel, 'twenty-five minutes later':

What I wouldn't give to see those intervening twenty-five minutes. Batman wrangling cats into the Batmobile.

Batman, taking care of Selina's cats? I really, really like.

Here are some other random images from the two-issue story that ran in 'Tec 508 and 509. It has never been reprinted in the U.S and the two stories were each 19 pages long. I've posted 9 pages total from both stories.

(At the end of this issue Selina leaves Gotham for a while. It's sad because she leaves, and sad because we then get, in my opinion, way too much Vicki Vale for a while. Still, Alfred is awesome.)

And yet... they still do...

You know, I was thinking about that, and the difference between what I tend to want from Lois/Clark versus Bruce/Selina.

And how the writers try to keep the tension of why the Bat/Cat dance continues for any given story, whether it's because of him or her or bad/good or personal issues or one of them's dying. And probably there's some world-saving in there too.

Yeah. Me too!

I feel like with Bruce/Selina, it's often Bruce who (ffs!!) needs to compromise his fascist, rigid vigilantism. (And also get over those trust/intimacy issues) And Selina who has to compromise her solitary lifestyle. (Also cut down on that whole stealing thing)

Thing with Selina and Bruce is that Selina still does *bad* things: she steals. Is Bruce a boy scout like Clark? Hellz to the no. He isn't above using torture methods to obtain information. However, because she steals, this reflects on her honesty/integrity and therein, I think, lies the trust issues.

Also Bruce has got that fear of becoming one of them -- the "freaks." If by giving in to Selina is he okaying crime when he's so anti-crime?
(Of course by this point, you could also argue by keeping the Joker alive, he's okaying murder. Buuuuuuut that's another argument for another day!!)

Huh. I'll have to think about this. I agree with most, disagree with a couple of bits. But it IS interesting. Thanks for the thinkiness!
