This is pretty much why I've stopped reading mainstream comics. The concept of editorial mandate has actually gotten out of hand to the point where good stories must be ignored for the sake of the flavor of the month crossover. This gets old. Fast. We're looking at a different generation now picking up comics. We can't know what characters will stick around and be favorites if they never have their own time to shine.
Hell, I'd buy a comic full of the X-men playing baseball, or the JLA having a sit down meal any day over the bloody minded crossover nonsense.
