Oddly, I never thought the first MATRIX was much good in the first place.

Agreed... when you have depend on the emotional range of Kanoonoo Reeves being serious to sell your movie, you're really on a hiding to nothing. Some interesting graphic tricks, but it all seemed terribly hollow.

Depressingly that STILL made it miles better than the sequels...

Wonder Woman could have a movie where she sits in a chair eating peanut butter and it'd still be better than Matrix. CRUNCHY ALL THE WAY!

Exactly why the thought of that man playing Spike Spiegel annoys the hell out of me.

Thank god. Someone finally invokes the Scans_daily motto on the Matrix!

I could barely contain my derisive laughter when Neo flew off-screen, Superman Style. The effects are nice and everything but it's just so. much. bullshit.

Exactly, total bullshit. I couldn't even appreciate the special effects because the story itself was just such pretentious crap.

EQUILIBRIUM, on the other hand, pulls off the style-over-substance in spades, pally.

Well, say whatever you want about the acting or script, but you've got to admit it kind of revolutionized action movies for a little while there.

No doubt. But for the better or worse?

Really, when it comes to that era, the only film where the style-over-substance thing really works for me is EQUALIBRIUM. That's just awesome, man.

Besides, it's common knowledge amongst readers of The Invisibles that the movie essentially ripped off the plot of Morrison's first story arc. He alternated between feeling flattered and pissed off about it.

Bananas are marsupials!

Cars run on gravy!

Salmon live in trees and eat pencils!

Just continuing the theme...

Power Rangers is now in it's 17th year! :)

Tim Drake has been Robin for 20 years this year.

It's now longer since Star Trek: The Next Generation started than it was between the original Star Trek and ST:TNG start dates.

The alt-text for this says that he liked the sequels in the theater, they just don't hold up nearly as well in comparison.

Which rings true with me, honest.
