The Walking Dead #59
Those from the original scans_daily might remember how I'd post The Walking Dead each month. For obvious reasons, I won't be posting half the issue anymore, and four scans alone is hardly enough to recap an entire issue (which was probably the point).  So what I *might* do from now on is post one scene from the latest issue as-is. Maybe this way is the best--rather than 'catching up' through my posts instead of the actual issues, as some people have done, they'll only catch a brief glimpse of what's in store, which will hopefully provide more incentive to buy it. It's easily one of the best titles out there right now.

For a series built around zombies, some have been surprised and even put off considering how a majority of the series focuses on the relationships between characters as they try to live in a decimated world rather than...well, zombies eating people. That being said, Kirkman does go into complete chaos-mode at times, as this issue shows...

If I ever had to drive in zombie land, I think I'd be in a freakin' truck at the very least. Something with at least the potential of ramming speed.

Oh shit is right! This series is so great, it is really hard to tradewait, as is Invincible. But what a treat when the TPBs are finally released and you get to devour a huge chunk of Kirkman. Thanks for giving us a few crumbs to tide us over until the next release!

I always loved seeing your posts, even if just for the stunningly effected artwork. I hope someday to find these trades somewhere and see how these bad-ass compositions and what not look to the naked eyeballs.

I'm sure you can find the trades at these sites:

Mebbe I shall, thanks! I have a number of friends obsessed with zombies, and this comic may lure them in from the fringe of the comics community where they've been lurking.

Ok. Not to be a party popper but how is this different from all these other zombie stories that have been in comics lately?

Have you read any issues or just this post?

Well I've read what's happened in the stories but this is the first of the panels I've seen.

Well, this post is hardly representative of how The Walking Dead is all the time, or even a significant chunk of it.

I've read other zombie comics, and the majority of them focus on excessive gore and little else (Avatar's Night of the Living Dead comics come to mind especially). What sets The Walking Dead apart from the others is that it focuses on the characters and how they coexist together in the world. There have been entire issues with nary a zombie in sight. It's more in line with the quality of a George Romero zombie film.

Here's a good review that describes it accurately:
