I know it's cool to hate on Morrison at the moment, but he said it himself when he wrote himself into Animal Man #26. "It was done to make comics more adult. God help us all if *that's* what 'more adult' means."

And it's just so tiring. It's done for shock value, but when it's shoved down your throat for so long, all it does is desensitize people. Which is the antithesis of shocking people into giving you their attention (and money).
I'm enjoying Blackest Night (even with all the gore, which I'm not normally keen on, even though yes, I knew this was a zombie story going in), but honestly? I'm at the point where, once that story wraps up, I'm out. Come and get me when the funny books have *stopped* trying to be cool and hip and adult and mature?
