This don't end well, does it?

Superman gave birth to his parents? In the electric chair?

It's all very Futurama, what with becoming his own grandpa; only now his parents are... twins?

Oh, Clark. The only memories they have of him are a few diaper changes. Also, suddenly being middle-aged must be a lot of fun.

Pre-Crisis Superman had spent time on Krypton shortly before it blew up (long story), introducing himself as a cousin of the El family, and even romancing a Kryptonian actress. I wonder if they remembered him from THAT little episode.

Hard not to hate Clark with his "REAL parents" line, dissing the Kents for all they'd done for him! Reminds me that Lara chose NOT to leave Jor and escape Krypton with Kal (a Dune-type scenario that could have been!), as referenced in the Great Superman Book by Fleisher! Wonder when that little talk would happen?

This is pre-Crisis, so his adoptive parents are both long dead, I don't think he's dissing them per se.

As an adoptee whose adoptive father is deceased, I still would respect his memory enough not to call my birth father my 'real' father. It's just consideration, and Clark was brought up better than that, or so I thought.

Won't argue with that, pre-Crisis Superman could be a REAL dick though.

It's funny how often that sort of thing comes out throughout the history of the DC heroes with adoptive families.

I wonder if that's not actually just an artifacts of the 70s, during which I don't think the term "biological parents" was much in use.

"Real Parents" was just what we said back then. I used it myself when I was a lil' kid. Later replaced by "Bio-Dad".

Except we see that the very next panel uses the words "biological parents", spoken by Jimmy.

I love the Robot Butler Clark's got there. "Ohh--? I better set two extra places for tea!" Like he secretly doubted his master's whole "For my next trick I shall give birth to MY OWN PARENTS" plan could work at all.

This is Silver Age Superman! He can do ANYTHING!
(If only for one issue.)

This was actually Bronze Age; the issue right before the "Whatever Happened To the Man Of Tomorrow?" story.

Really? Well, THAT puts an interesting spin on things. 'Let's briefly grant one of Clark's fondest desires, so we can DESTROY IT next issue, along with his entire continuity!' Things haven't changed much, eh?

IIRC, as it turned out they weren't really his folks anyway.

He'd originally set it for three, since he knew, even if Clark didn't, that Kryptonians are like Tenctonese. He was then polite enough not to correct Superman on his failure.
