Ophiuchus Fun Day

*Today in the common room there is comfortable seating for twelve. While drinks, sandwiches and oreos have been left on platters on the tables. The lights are dim, and a wall is clear with a blue screen projected upon it from no where. The screen reads:


Ophiuchus Fun Day



In each seat are twelve, nice, leather bound binders. If the binder is inspected, it will be found that inside there is a list of rules, for Blanks and Ophiuchus (to be visited in detail shortly), and a large section full of information on each Blank.

The information includes:

Blanks' real names, and corresponding 'Sabra' names.
The number of memories each Blank has won.
List of which blanks are from the same worlds, and basic information on their relationship.
All of the information to be found on each Blank's Stats/Power Retention Memes.

Beauty is present in the form of a cloud of a few dozen blue butterflies, and Soldier is in inhabiting his usual dog*

This is, perhaps, the most important point we will cross today, so let us cover it fully. It is not new to us that many here are unhappy, unsure, or upset. They do not know why they are here. They do not believe that they could have entered this fray willingly. And this doubt is understandable, for it is no secret that if we wished, it is within our power to fake the messages you have left to yourself.

Of course, it is also within our power to have invented the memories you receive, or the bodies you inhabit. Simply put, even if all cards were on the table, if you are set in doubt, then there is no way to fully prove that you are all real people from many times and places, and have entered our game of your own free will. However, it is the truth. Lying to you on this point would be unnecessary, as you can imagine that when the prize for winning our game can be nearly anything, we are not at all want for viable players.

Thus, all of the Blanks were warned they would be subject to the whims of the Judges, and that our individual natures meant they may suffer great pain, physical or emotional. They were told they may die, but that deaths would not be permanently fatal. They were warned that, should any of their friends also join our games, they would be permitted to be on the same teams. Essentially, everything which causes the Blanks the most grief, we are aware of. And so were they.

Yet they agreed. You all agreed. It should be sufficient to say that everyone here has something they wanted badly enough to cross these hurdles, for the chance at wishing for something outside their own power. The return of a loved one, the cure of a disease, the death of one stronger. At the expensive, but payable, cost of winning our game.

That this is a game is another element oft overlooked. Not simply the games themselves, hosted by the Judges, but all of this place, and every aspect of it. It is no coincidence that food and supplies are scarce. Teams are meant to compete with each other, and daily life is meant to be a trial.

Please keep this in mind as you work for us. It may go against some of your better natures to refuse to help, or to create strife. However, the prize is great, and it is only fair for the price to be equal. You, too, as members of Ophiuchus agreed to this in your own ways. We take away the competitive element for you, and you live in comfort, without need to fight or hunger. In exchange you may lose the trust of others, or have to carry out harsh sentences. However, we are not restricting you from friendship or companionship, as long as you keep, above all, the game and its rules in mind.

Finally, many of you have no doubt wondered at the significance of these games, and this place. Perhaps they are only for the entertainment of more powerful beings? Or maybe it is a part of our nature, as much as to see shelter and eat food is yours? The story of Sabra la Tau is a very long one, and not one which we explain lightly. However, understand that this place has a significance to us, and we choose to protect it. Yet a place is not alive without a people to inhabit it. The Blanks who dwell here are... vibrant, in a way rarely seen. Your occupation, temporary though it is, protects a place we cherish, and in turn we offer something beyond your own power.

Remember this, but do not share it. All other Blanks play in reaction to the world around them. Ophiuchus alone must take it upon themselves to act. I feel that, should you understand that regardless of our temperaments, we too have a stake in this game, you will act with more confidence in yourselves and in us.

Rules for Blanks


۞ No visiting the pillar without accompaniment

۞ No inter-team sleepovers outside of your partner team

۞ No excessive sharing of food and supplies

۞ No sacrificing yourself in games

۞ No punching walls unless you have a sufficiently good reason
