[The sun rises the night after the incursion on Wayne Manor, spreading beautiful golden light on a pile of corpses.
The dead are found in the back of a bar frequented by lowlifes for hire. People buying information off the patrons there is common practice, but it looks like someone was hosting a poker game after the bar closed, and the game went south. Amongst the dead is a well-known hitman and information broker, a Falcone mob capo, a wealthy drug lord who was on a visit to the old neighborhood, and the bodyguards of all three men. Most died by gunshot, with a few dead from knife wounds or other colorful physical trauma, including a brutally snapped neck.
The newspapers play up the mystery of the attack's motivation. Even in blood-soaked Gotham, it's a bit bizarre. All the men had in common was an ad hoc poker game. They weren't even reported to have met before being found dead draped over their takes.
The most likely theory is that one was the target and the others were just caught in the crossfire. Aspersions are cast on the Donovan mob due to the Falcone connection, but the blame is also laid with about a dozen other rival organizations and burned individuals who might have had a grudge against one of the people there.
Word on the street, though, is that the killer was looking for someone. Nothing like lighting a fire under the type of people most motivated to survive to get things done. They say one man made it out alive to bring a message to the Falcones, like a blood soaked messenger out of an old fashioned massacre, the best method for spreading the news to every facet of the criminal element in town.
The killer is looking for someone, and until they get found, it's hunting season.]
