MOTHER AND DAUGHTER REPORTEDLY STILL ALIVE - DEATH EATERS DEMAND TRADE

The mother and daughter kidnapped over the weekend from Diagon Alley by Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange are still alive, according to reports - and the only reason may be a trade.

Head Auror Rufus Scrimgeour confirmed yesterday afternoon that Andromeda Black Tonks and her daughter, Nymphadora, are still believed to be alive, though their conditions were unknown.

Scrimgeour went on to elude that Lestrange has demanded a trade, presumably for Amycus and Alecto Carrow, a brother and sister Death Eater pair that was recently convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to the Dementor's Kiss.

"This is blackmail, plain and simple," said Scrimgeour, "and we at the Ministry do not give in to these sorts of demands. If we let the Carrows go free, who knows how many more they'll slaughter? The likelihood of the Tonkses being alive and in any condition where they will survive is highly unlikely even if they are returned, and we will be releasing two of the most dangerous fugitives Azkaban holds for little more than corpses."

In his most chilling statement, Scrimgeour hinted that this may not be the end of it. "By doing this, You-Know-Who and the Death Eaters have openly declared war on the Wizarding World again, and we will not stand for it."

DEATH EATER KIDNAPS MOTHER, DAUGHTER IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange, known to be in You-Know-Who's Inner Circle, was spotted in Diagon Alley this afternoon among the rush of Christmas shoppers, shortly before kidnapping Andromeda Black Tonks and her daughter, Nymphadora. Their conditions and whereabouts are currently unknown, though there was a significant struggle.

Witnesses described the scene as 'chaotic'. "We didn't know what was happening," said Willa Crocker, a shopper who witnessed the scene. "There was a scuffle, some hexes thrown, and the girl was unconscious, but before anyone could step in, they were gone."

No one else was injured in the incident. Pureblood Black Tonks is known throughout Wizarding society for her marriage to Muggleborn Ted Tonks, which resulted in her infamously being disowned from the Black family. Lestrange and Black Tonks are sisters, though it is currently unknown if Black Tonks and her daughter were specifically targeted, or if this was a random run-in. No ransom has yet been demanded, and the condition of the victims is currently unknown.

CARROWS FOUND GUILTY - SENTENCED TO DEMENTOR'S KISS

The brother and sister Death Eater pair, Amycus and Alecto Carrow, have been found guilty of first degree murder. The Wizengamot ruled unanimously after significant evidence was presented by lawyers representing the Ministry throughout the three day trial.

"It was inevitable," stated Trevor Campbell, lawyer for the Carrows. "It was just a matter of what the punishment would be."

Both Amycus and Alecto Carrow plead guilty to third-degree murder, but the Wizengamot changed the ruling to first after reviewing the evidence for the case.

The Carrows are both scheduled to receive the Dementor's Kiss in the beginning of the New Year.

FORMER DEATH EATER CHARGED WITH GAMP DAUGHTER'S MURDER

Amycus Carrow, one of the six Death Eaters pardoned by the Ministry last month, has been formally charged with Greta Gamp's murder.

Gamp, the daughter of the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement Garbor Gamp, was presumed missing nearly two weeks ago after disappearing while visiting with Carrow. After a diligent search of the Carrow manor, traces of blood were found in the foyer. After further tests, it was confirmed that the sample belonged to Gamp.

While Carrow initially refused to admit to any crime, insisting Gamp was not at the residence that evening, once the blood was discovered, he confessed. The body has since been recovered after the extensive questioning of the Carrow house elf.

Carrow will be sentenced in the following weeks. It is expected he will receive the maximum punishment. Carrow's sister, Alecto, disappeared the day after Carrow was arrested. Anyone with information leading to her whereabouts is requested to report it to the Ministry.
