SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MISSING WOMAN CASE

A suspect has been brought into custody in the case of missing Greta Gamp. 28 year-old Amycus Carrow, one of the six recently pardoned Death Eaters, was arrested late last night at his home. Gamp was last seen on Tuesday afternoon and was reported missing when she did not show up for work Wednesday morning. By Carrow's own admission, they two had a date last Saturday, but that Gamp became extremely upset when caught in a compromising position when Carrow unknowingly took off the tracking device provided by the Ministry. It was not known until late Friday evening that Gamp and Carrow were scheduled for another date for the evening she disappeared. When questioned, Carrow claimed Gamp had never showed, and that he wasn't surprised, given her reaction to their previous evening together.

Carrow is currently being detained by Aurors, who are treating the investigation as a homicide, in an attempt to get a confession and the location of the body. Until more physical evidence against Carrow is discovered, he will not be charged, but as he is a known Death Eater, he will kept in custody as a person of interest for the timebeing.

PARDONED DEATH EATERS TO BE TRACKED

In a surprising move by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, this afternoon Head Auror Rufus Scrimgeour announced that the six pardoned Death Eaters allowed back into England will be asked to subject themselves to tracking charms - not for others' safety, but for their own.

"With this recent rise of Death Eater related crime, the Ministry wants to ensure that those pardoned have an immediate and verified alibi," said Scrimgeour in a statement released late Wednesday afternoon. "None of them have been associated with known Death Eater Peter Pettigrew's supposed spotting in Hogwarts castle, and for their own safety and protection, we want to be able to tell the public for certain that these six are innocent."

This controversial move is supported by Minister for Magic Millicent Bagnold, who has praised the efforts of the Aurors to keep the six pardoned Death Eaters safe. "No longer are these individuals fugitives or banished from Wizarding Society - they are now citizens of England, and as such are subject to the same protection and rights as every other citizen. Innocent until proven guilty, and our only wish is to help them maintain a reputation where they can still participate in the Wizarding World without other well-meaning citizens making unfortunate and incorrect assumptions based on past allegiances that no longer stand."

The Ministry has kept mum on exactly how these tracking charms will work. The only details released were to assure the public that the information garnered by the tracking charms will only be accessed when verification of the whereabouts of these citizens is necessary. As for other pardoned or released criminals, the Ministry claims there are currently no plans to implement this procedure on anyone other than the six former Death Eaters.

A Tight-Lipped Headmaster Stays Quiet Regarding the Infiltration. Don't We Deserve a Few Answers?

- Rita Skeeter -

Two weeks since the appearance of known Death Eater Peter Pettigrew at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the doors remained locked. The most this reporter has heard from the tight-lipped Headmaster is that the school is on lock down, effective immediately and will remain so until the start of the Christmas holiday. Does the Headmaster truly believe that parents will stand by and let their children remain in a school along with a murderer.

Does he think we are stupid? This reporter is highly disappointed in Headmaster Dumbledore.

Furthermore, I wish to propose a theory which I am sure many of you are thinking of, even if I am the first to say it: First there is the death of a professor under mysterious circumstances (at best) followed by the presence of a Death Eater in the school. This reporter as well as the rest of the Wizarding World is able to put two and two together.

Pettigrew is still at large and concerned parents are unable to remove their children from school. Is this the sort of behaviour we wish to see from Headmaster Dumbledore? We want answers, Professor, and we want them now. This reporter will not rest until we have reasons for the strange actions at Hogwarts.

Perhaps it wasn't He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named that we should have feared, but Albus Dumbledore instead.

DEATH EATER FOUND INSIDE HOGWARTS

On Saturday evening, students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had their Hallowe'en Dance interrupted when an unidentified adult chaperon within the school spotted and identified Death Eater Peter Pettigrew, who is believed to have spent the past nine years outside of England.

No students or staff members were harmed, and students were sequestered in their Common Rooms as staff members and Auror searched for Pettigrew. Despite a search that lasted well past midnight, no trace of the Death Eater was found. He is believed to have fled school grounds.

Headmaster Albus Dumbledore released the following statement this morning: "I want to assure all parents that their children are safe within these walls. Numerous safety precautions are being taken to ensure this does not happen again."

The spotting of Pettigrew comes only a month after six Death Eaters previously banned from England were allowed to return. The Ministry of Magic had no comment on any possible connections between the two.

NEW ARITHMANCY PROFESSOR APPOINTED BY GOVERNORS

The Governors that head the Educational Council appointed Tahlena Selwynn to the position of Arithmancy Professor at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry just days after the previous professor, Septima Vector, fell to her death.

Selwynn is a highly-regarded master of Arithmancy who did extensive work and research in China after graduating from Hogwarts in 1977. "We are pleased and confident in our decision to appoint Miss Selwynn," said a representative for the council in a short statement released Monday. "We are satisfied that she will fulfill the requirements a professor ought to live up to, as well as make the rest of the year an educational experience for the students."

Selwynn is due to start teaching her classes on Wednesday.

HOGWARTS PROFESSOR FOUND DEAD

Septima Vector, Professor of Arithmancy at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, was found dead Saturday evening. Vector, 42, taught at Hogwarts for nearly twenty years and was a valued member of the staff, according to Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.

Vector's body was found at the base of the Astronomy Tower shortly before ten o'clock Saturday night by Rubeus Hagrid, Groundskeeper, who declined to come out of his hut to comment. Investigators and Aurors were dispatched to the school immediately, where Dark Magic was ruled out.

"We cannot say for sure if this was accidental or a homicide," said Rufus Scrimgeour, who was on the scene. "We have also not ruled out the possibility of suicide. But we have deduced that there are no traces of Dark Magic anywhere near the tower."

All students were kept sequestered in their dormitories and Common Rooms while the staff and Prefects patrolled the school, in case there was any threat to the students present. None was found.

For now, Vector's death is being treated as an accident, though the investigation is still on-going.

FOUR MUGGLES REPORTED DEAD – DARK MARK SPOTTED

The Dark Mark was spotted for the first time in nine years on Wednesday evening over a Muggle household. Four people – two adults, two children, all non-magical – were reported to be deceased inside.

No other details could be confirmed, but the Minister himself released a statement regarding the attack, reassuring the public that this is only the work of a copycat killer. “As sickening as it is, with the return of certain fully-pardoned persons into our great nation, the Ministry was prepared for such attacks to occur. We are in no way accusing these individuals of this crime – in fact, we have secured alibis for all six. However, the Ministry is aware of these associations and copycat killings that often occur when these sorts of things happen. We want to make sure the public knows that You-Know-Who is not back, nor will he ever return to England.”

The formal statement, which was read in the Atrium of the Ministry, was all the Minister cared to say, although anonymous insiders say that Fudge is determined to prove that these murders were not the work of the pardoned Death Eaters.

The family had no known association with anyone inside the Wizarding World, and no motive has been reported.

NAMES OF PARDONED DEATH EATERS RELEASED

A week after the Ministry revealed that a number of unconvicted Death Eaters were to be pardoned for terrorist ties, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement has now released six names. These six, who are all known to have been allied with You-Know-Who before he was run out of Great Britain nearly ten years ago, have not had any crimes such as murder, theft, vandalism, or harassment tied to their names, and all were under the age of twenty-two at the end of the war.

"It is a great day for Britain when we as a community can forgive these six individuals for crimes committed in their youths," said Minister Fudge today in a statement given today in the Ministry of Magic. "Like many of us, they have made mistakes, and after a long and arduous process, the Ministry feels that these individuals have served their time and learned their lessons. All are upstanding citizens in countries throughout Europe, and none are known to associate any longer with You-Know-Who or the Death Eaters."

Many protesters have questioned whether or not the Ministry is in a position to know who the individuals pardoned have associated with, but the Ministry has insisted that they are certain the six pose no threat to the Wizarding Community.

"You-Know-Who is gone," said Head of the Auror Department Rufus Scrimgeour. "He isn't coming back. And if he does, he'll have a nasty surprise waiting for him."

The six individuals receiving full pardons from the Ministry are as follows:

Alecto Carrow
Amycus Carrow
Bartemius Crouch, Jr. (Son of Bartemius Crouch, Sr., Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation)
Rabastan Lestrange (Brother-In-Law to the infamous Bellatrix Lestrange)
Peter Pettigrew
Thorfinn Rowle

MINISTER ANNOUNCES SOME DEATH EATERS PARDONED

In a show of good faith as the Wizarding World approaches the tenth anniversary of You-Know-Who’s flight from England, Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge has granted a handful of Death Eaters pardons.

All under the age of twenty-two at the end of the war, the Death Eaters in question have been confirmed as followers of You-Know-Who, but none have ever officially been found guilty of any of the hundreds of murders that occurred during His reign of terror.

“We are not yet officially releasing a list,” said Fudge in a press conference early this afternoon. “But after an exhaustive search through trial records and interviews, we are certain that none of the individuals on the list are guilty of any crime other than being a member of You-Know-Who’s army.”

Forgiveness was a key theme to Minister Fudge’s six and a half minute speech, but the question remains: will the Wizarding World ever be ready to forgive You-Know-Who and his Death Eaters?
