The Halloween Ball

[info]pl_professor
[info]plagued_rpg
The Great Hall was dark and eerie, thick spiders web hung from the torches on the walls and draped across skeletal statues that stood in each order of the room; a badger, lion, eagle and serpent. The usual floating candles had been replaced with pumpkins, their faces carved in twisted smiles.

Two tables lined either side of the room, flush with sweets and lollypops, butterbeers, toffee apples and, apparently, skulls. Music hung heavily in the air, slow and beautiful and eerie, encouraging the dancers to take to the open floor. Already Nearly-Headless Nick and the Grey lady were dancing with each other, silvery and elegant, two ghosts dancing on all hallows eve...

QUIDDITCH RESULTS

[info]plagued_mods
[info]plagued_rpg
Though it was a cloudy day there was nothing dismal about the crowd today down at the Quidditch Pitch! Gryffindor and Hufflepuff were out in full force to support their teams, along with Ravenclaw and Slytherin checking out the competition.

The game took off to a huge start, the teams quickly shaking off the dust of inactivity! The quaffle zoomed back and forth almost faster than the eye could keep up! Both teams seemed evenly matched, the scores racking up evenly before Romilda Vane took a bludger to the elbow! Her broken arm took her out of the game and left Gryffindor a chaser down! Hufflepuff began to pull ahead.

But as we know, one of the most deciding factors of a game is who catches the snitch! The match lasted well over an hour, without anyone even catchinig a whiff of the elusive ball. But then it was spotted, at almost at the same time by both seekers. It was a race to see who could get there first.

A terrific catch by Ginny Weasley, snatching the it just before Megan Jones could reach! But the Snitch is only worth 150 points...

Attention students.
Today is the first Hogsmeade weekend and, despite the rain, I'm sure you're all anxious to get out for a few hours. Please make sure your permission slips have been signed. I will require one from each student before you leave Hogwarts.
If you do not have a signed permission slip, you may not leave the Hogwarts grounds.

Curfew for those of you in 7th year and below is 6.30pm.

Owl to All Previous Seventh Year Students

Dear Student,

After discussions between Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
and the Ministry of Magic, it has been acknowledged that your previous
year at Hogwarts was unavoidably, and tragically, disrupted and your
tutoring not up to Ministry Educational Standards, leading to failure
of any member of the Class of 1998 receiving NEWT level qualifications.

As such, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would like to
offer you the opportunity to return to school in order to resit your
last year and gain your NEWTs qualifications along side the students
that will be returning in order to continue this year. Arrangements
will be made for your stay in your former houses and timetables will
be given to you on the first morning of school. Re-sit NEWTS classes
will be taken alongside the current NEWTs class.

You are not obligated to return to the school, but should you wish to
take up this offer you will find enclosed your ticket for the Hogwarts
Express departing as usual from platform 9 3/4 on September 1st, as
well as a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall
Headmistress
